I heard that there are 2 consoles per company. The mid-gen refreshes are going to be introduced at release so that these consoles can run the entire 7yr cycle.

Anyway, I tried to piece together was is happening. It appears like the PS5 Pro is coming later. That would mean the base PS5 is 9TF and perhaps the 2 SKUs for Xbox are releasing during xmas 2020.

So 2 models. Possible 2 coming out from Microsoft but 1 coming out for Sony.

Also PS5 Pro might not see the light of day until 2022.

To be fair you did though... you originally said Same time release for two consoles (which I did in fact read an internet news article that quoted an article that quoted you) Then you said the pro version would come much later (the article did not mention that part).

That pissed me off because that is not ideal for me. I want the Pro model up front then maybe a light later on for the masses. I don't want to be forced to buy two models. So what can you confirm now about the two models?

I have no idea what you are saying here. I have read this several times. where did i say PS5 exclusives pushed me to get a PC? i have built a PC every gen for the past three gens to play console games at 60 fps. the only difference back then was that i HAD to own a Playstation to play their exclusives. now thats no longer the case so i no longer feel obligated to stay in their eco system. however, this time around, Sony relies on us spending money in their ecosystem more than ever. PS+ subs, DLCs, Microstransactions, Digital Store sales where they get 30% of the cut instead of the usual 10% and finally the midgen upgrades.

I dont know how many consumers like me will move to PC. i do know that the PS CEO was afraid i would do it just a few years ago and a built a brand new console just to keep me from going back to PC. it actually worked for a couple of years until i got sick of playing 30 fps games on the pro. So if the CEO was afraid, he must have seen numbers where a substantial number of people move every gen to PC. Enough to invest in R&D for a console.

at the end of the day, it might come down to 10% but those 10% of users are enthusiasts and day one adapters who spend a lot more than your 'traditional console gamer'. we have numbers from sony themselves, $1,700 vs $700. this is money sony is leaving on the table.

Sorry, you're not making any sense and your complaints are quite frankly bizarre. You are already buying third party games on PC to play them in 60fps so Sony was never getting their 30% cut in third party sales, DLCs or Microtransactions. Why would anyone take the time to build a gaming PC and still pay $60 a year for PS+? Practically no one that has a gaming PC and a console would choose paid multiplayer over free multiplayer. Console only gamers don't have a choice.

So the only thing Sony will be missing from you buying their exclusive software on PS5....because you plan on doing so on a PC.....umm so why should they care?

Just as last gen, final dev kits won't be out til summer. Zhuge even said so.

As for 512Gb/s bandwidth being enough for 11-12tf...yeah, ok

For the mass-produced dev kits sure they'll go out later this year, but I would assume the core specs of the APU/RAM/SSD in the dev kit devs have now are final as they have to finish their games and submit them for testing (TRC etc) around August I guess?

PC piracy hasn't really been a thing since Steam and GOG took off tho, and both of those were years ago. Only time we hear about piracy is when a game goes full-draconian DRM bullshit, and usually out of protest.

Otherwise, it's usually with digital shows that are stupidly locked away from official streaming in other parts of the world. The Mandalorian was massively pirated because of this.

I don't know about you guys, but I've had 5 cars (really 4 since one was a hand me down). Out of those 4 cars, it's been 4 different car companies. Two Jap, one USA, one Italian.

No, I'm not missing the point. Analyzing any situation without the right context makes no sense.

Again, of course X1X is more powerful if it was launched a year later. But losing the "power crown" can be analyzed if both products are launched the same year, have comparable prices and point to the same segment of customers in the market.

By this I don't mean that Sony undoubtedly always has to have a more powerful console than the competition, because it would be a false statement and because it's likely that XSX has a slight difference of TF in its favor.

You have to be short-sighted not to see the context, if you launch a console 1 year later and it costs 100 usd more, the manufacturer has to be an idiot to make a product lower than the one already It is in the market.

The same with the narrative of the XB OG, if you launch a console 2 years later than the PS2, the same logic applies.

Is it low in a traditional sense, or is it low because the number is low? Granted if you’re looking at it compared to a high quality pc build, but think of everything else that works in conjunction with that, that you wouldn’t get on a pc.

As for memory, as BGs said, memory changes have happened before without developers knowing. So who knows. I only report what I’m told.

That memory bandwidth fits with Oberon A0 bandwidth (512GB/s). But we know it got improved with B0 (maybe 550GB/s) and there is also the last model E0. I wouldn't worry about it.
