I hate the Xbox One controller. I desperately miss the 360 controller. I accidentally hit the triggers when I mean to press the bumper button ALL THE TIME!
It really bummed me out to see the Series X controller is basically the same thing.

That Daddy of pretty much every modern controller.

My brother had one that looked exactly like that but the 'thumbsticks' didn't move. I think they were something to do with the rumble? Must have been an earlier one, I guess. Or is this a case of the Mandella effect?!

but by god i hated the Gravis Gamepad. what a poor excuse for a controller. the D-pad is not even a D-pad, it's some incredibly stupid octagonal thing that you can insert a tiny joystick into. what the hell is that for?

the four (at a time when SNES controllers had 8) buttons are all shallow and don't give good pushback. just horrible. thankfully the PC didn't have any side scrollers worth playing at the time that made you need one. the iD Software platformers were way better on keyboard. at least a spacebar has a click to it. this was so bad i think most of the time i just stuck to K+M

I remember having to press start to switch between punches and kicks in Street Fighter. It was comfortable but 3 buttons only at the time...ugh

N64 and DC controllers are a dream next to this pile. There might be even worse but I only have a moderate collection of old stuff

Honestly the worst controller is the modern touchscreen phone interface when they try and make virtual buttons.
I don't mind games designed for touch interfaces but this stuff is horrific.

Even something as simple as Sonic, which is a dpad and one button feels like total shit.

I honestly haven't had much issues with console controllers the only one I wasn't a huge fan of was the PS2 duelshock as they made the buttons very mushy to accommodate the pointless analogue buttons.

You do realize Sony ripped off the SNES controller when they were working on the SNES PlayStation with Nintendo, right?

That thing didn't even have analog sticks. What are you even talking about? Because it has a d-pad and 4 buttons?

From these that I used...

The first Xbox One controller when I played Forza 5 it was impossible to use the bumpers no matter how much force I put to press them.

It probably was the first controller that I thought that that doesn’t work... all others I can use and adapt pretty fast... 360 controller for example is pretty good.

I dunno why the n64 controller gets so much hate... I actually have really fond memories of that controller and loved how well it worked for games like goldeneye (felt like you were actually firing a gun with the trigger)mario, zelda etc... Only thing that really bothered me about it was the sticks would wear down and go crusty after a few months of heavy use and no amount of cleanup would restore them to their former smoothness.

Probably the wii would be my pick for worst, as i absolutely hate motion controls, which were required input method for many of the systems games.

Quoted for the right answer.
Every other controller on the planet was superior to this crap.
The Jaguar, DC, Saturn analogue, N64, GC, Genesis, PS3 controllers are all superior to this thing.

The DS4. There are just too many problems that are UNIVERSAL. You can "like" it but there are just too many caveats that come with it that can't be ignored. You WILL go through controllers like crazy no matter how good you think you are to your controllers. The skin can easily come off the analogs, they can stop connecting, stop charging, the battery life is a joke. Even just how they feel in your hand, they are the cheapest, thinnest, creaky plastic. Sony designed and built them not with quality in mind but with cost effectiveness.

Just because you like Sony and the PS4 doesn't mean you have to defend and make excuses for the DS4. It's NOT a good controller. It's easily one of the worst.

One of the MAIN reasons why people are SO excited for the DS5 is that it's different enough to hold the promise that Sony has likely learned its lessons from the DS4. We are hopeful that the DS5 will actually be a quality controller that is built well and will last.

Only controller I’ve ever hated was the duke. I’m retrospect the original dual shocks were crap too because the DS4 is so freaking comfortable, but I was fine with the original DualShocks at the time they were current.

I didn’t like the duke even when it was originally released.

Of the ones I've owned I hated the WiiMote + Nunchuk.

Crap all around, very few good games made clever use of it, was expensive as hell with shit quality (both the ones I owned ended up getting sync issues and issues with the nunchuk connector) and the nunchuk is the absolute wors pos analog stick on any controller I've ever owned.

The piece of trash that is the N64 controller. Fuck that controller, and fuck the N64 and it's 3 good games.
:messenger_tears_of_joy:
3 Good games on launch day?
Super Mario 64, Wave Race 64 and Pilot Wings 64 all on launch day.
SM64 and Wave Race 64 are 2 of the best games of all time.

Wii ones. Juggling between the Wiimote and classic controller, the added expense to upgrade to motion plus, and dealing with AA batteries.

I'd never thought people took issue with the Dreamcast one.

Hands down these pieces of shit. Lucky for me my bro bought them. Must have been the late 80s or early 90s.

Both them didn't last long, both had that cheap clicky feel to the buttons and they stopped registering fast.

All you gamers who have been playing with console gamepads and quality m/kb the past 20 years consider yourselves lucky you didn't have to roll the dice on junk in the 80s.

I never had an SMS but this controller was trash to use. Switch contollers are for toddlers or dwarves. I had no problems with N64, but Gamecube was an ergonomic nightmare.

It took me years to realize why the Dreamcast pad hurt my hands, but then I realized that the handles like go inward a bit and cause your wrists to be closer, while other controllers angle your wrists out.

Ha ha ha, I forget how young some of you are on here.

You do know the Playstation didn't start with analog sticks right?
And if you can't see any similarities between the SNES controller and the PS1 controller, I think you should look more closely.

My launch ds4 from 2013 still works perfectly and the one I bought in 2014 is the same.

What do you guys consider the worst controller ever?

Personally, I have never been fussy when it comes to controllers. All were good enough except one.

Sega Dreamcast Controller.
572px-Sega-Dreamcast-Controller-FL.jpg

Simply bad in every way.

Analogue stick which was too loose and there was only one.

Really awkward to grip.

Cord too short and at the bottom of the controller.

Heck even the D-PAD was a disgrace after what we got on the Sega Saturn.

I have to agree on the DC pad, which is hard to say because this is probably my favorite console of all time. The grips were so thin and oddly shaped, the triggers were oddly positioned and could cause fatigue in games that used them heavily. I think they designed it with only the tiniest hands in mind.

Of the ones I've used for any length of time, it's gotta be the DS3 controller: uncomfortable as all get out, and some of the weirdest design decisions, like the inward-curving triggers and the convex stick heads. I hated that thing.

Don't care about stick positions.

NES: that shit literally disfigured my thumbs, so hard and so sharp, it was painful to use after a couple of hours.

N64: probably the worst overall, coming from the iconic and sleek design from the Snes (which is probably the best gamepad that i have ever used) they managed to make this turd that rendered unplayable many games with that retarded design

ps3: it was awful, the sharp angles, light weight and small design provoked me cramps all the time

Xbox 360: that d-pad is the worst design that i have ever seen in a first party accesory in my whole life, I have never used a xbox controller since 2010, did they fixed that piece of shit? I still remember being baffled on how it was impossible to play Street Fighter 2 or Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 remasters because of it

Ps4 is the best that I have used lately, never understood the hate. never failed on me and is extremely comfortable and ergonomic

The Nintendo 64 ultra racer controller. Not particularly great for racing games and terrible for everything else. Still, my friends and I had good laugh attempting to play goldeneye with it.

PS1, PS3, NES, 3 button MegaDrive/Genesis, holding Wiimote sideways for required games,
The switch pro controller is probably the worst as far as Nintendo controllers go
Crazy talk. It's awesome.
Gamecube controller was incredibly comfortable.
