I get that, but this one is basically identical to the first setting wise, so it stands out and kinda makes me lose interest a little quicker.
Hey, to each their own. Although, consistent art direction is important for a more grounded series like TLOU.
Ghost of Tsushima has the liberty of being a completely fresh IP with no expectations from that of a previous entry. So Sucker Punch can really go wild with their vision.

I could see things like lighting improved (maybe RT, I don‘t know), draw distance improved, higher resolution, faster/zero load times, using the DualSense haptics, maybe physics improvements.

They won’t just ship it as is, it’ll hurt their reputation and Sony’s. They’ve known about the PS5 for way longer than most, I’m sure they had a team working on PS5 specific features/additions the whole time.

There’s a little bit of Ubisoft-syndrome going on; reusing mechanics from their other games, like the rope swinging in Uncharted 4. It makes sense though, from an efficiency and business perspective. Overall, a good look at the game. The gameplay itself looks good, if only a minor evolution.

They talk a lot about realism but there is a statistically improbable amount of women in the combat encounters. It stands out like a sore thumb. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a diktat that it must be 50/50 no matter what. No society in those circumstances would endanger the future of humanity (women) without being direly short on men. Men are disposable and less valuable biologically. It’s silly to put the women in danger.

Still waiting on PS5 before I pick it up. if I pick it up.

Specially if you consider how easy coding for the PS5 is gonna be.

Do all the big first party PlayStation studios share tech to allow easier development of these things?

I am fine with killing 10 000 people in the game but listening to that dog scream when it burnt to death, dammit i hope they have a couple of steaks with some sleeping pills i can chuck at them.

In the first game 20 years has passed after Joel's daughter died at that point even the cure was possible its not gonna do much. The infection already done its damage and the society was destroyed and the infected are dangerous but they are no longer the bigger threat, other people are.

I think we’re agreeing.

They‘re trying to frame the situation in the new trailers to make us less sympathetic to Joel’s decision. Joel made the right call, you’re not sacrificing someone I love to have a very small chance at curing something that’s 20 years on.

The violence is going to be a problem for some reviewers, mark my words.

Its kinda interesting because its not that its a level of mayhem unprecedented in videogames, its just the physicality, the immediacy of it.

Looks absolutely stellar though. Day #1 for me.

yh we get used to that , humans atack us because they decided to , dogs not . they just do its job .
and about world looks like you will miss so much if you just will run like in gameplay from place to place. because you wont back to it anymore, so maybe just give it more time i think.

I am just happy we can turn humans and infected against each other. I don't know why I enjoy that so much.

Thats why remind me so much Days Gone. I make this on Days Gone almost everytime. Save a lot of work and in the end is a fun mechanic besides stealth/combat.

They do share tech, APIs, etc., through their XDev/SIE networks, yes. They also made steps a few years ago to work together more under a tighter umbrella with all of their entertainment properties such as music and film.

So access to movie assets and meshes for next-gen would be a good resource to tap into for graphics.

I always agree that Joel did right thing, Fire Files were looking for a tool to gain political power so more people join their group, and don't forget Joel didn't lost his daughter to infection but to other human.

I’ve been saying it for a while and it might just peak with the ps5 gen especially if we seeing this on ps4. The ‘violence in video games’ argument is going to have to be revisited because seriously it feels a lot like a real murder sim considering it’s so damn realistic and the characters react so genuinely. Especially when they’re upset you killed their friend.

This is not to disparage the game I can’t fkn wait and it looks totally awesome!

It’s kind of interesting this time that they didn’t allow the player to be hunted too much in the video. That was a domination run from a player who has played that section many times and just owned the enemies. It was a cool thing to see how well it’s done but I’ll be playing completely differently if it’s at all possible I usually like to clear each area of enemies before moving on. I wonder if that’s going to be possible with this game. Surely each area has to have a finite number of enemies in there I just wonder if the net gear and ammo gain will be worth the expense to gear of kills. It looks like the knife / stealth kill doesn’t have durability this time?

Arg I can’t wait to play I always hate these last few weeks wait when you want a game so badly.

It was neither a selfish or a sympathetic decision. It was a father's choice. Some people stood far too far away from the narrative, clearly. You're not meant to be an overseeing, you're meant to be Joel, the father.

On almost all points, I’ll agree. Just something I noticed. Like I said, it makes sense to reuse work you’ve done if you can do it in a way that makes sense.

You're making a lot of assumptions when its set in a world that never existed, but ill play this game:

People throw away the value of "life" and the "future of humanity" in dire circumstances. Have you seen the state of the world now? It's not exactly ideal and everyone, male or female, is pitted against each other. Less and less is there this expectation/assumption (like in the past) that women are fragile and won't fight. You can talk about biology all you want but we're not the same as animals, well, not entirely.

Anyways, the game looks amazing, better than any studio in terms of story telling and animations. Really looking forward to it.

I’m going off of history. If you put your women in combat they’re gonna end up dead pretty quickly and then humanity is truly over. You put a 6’ 2” 225 lb tank of a man out there if you can, not a 5’ 5” 115 pound woman. We are animals and like most, we are sexually dimorphic. We’re built for different purposes. Women populate the world, it’s foolish to put them in danger if you don’t have to. Women have one kid at a time and it takes 9 months to make one. You ain’t making much progress if you‘ve got 10 men and 2 women.

In an apocalyptic scenario humanity would quickly revert back to traditional gender roles. It‘s what brought us to the dance after all.

Interesting. & a very sensible use of resources.

PS first party are up there with the very best third-person animations in the business these days, it has to be said. It's them or Rockstar. Just a joy to play & watch.

Actually in those situation you don't want too much population in your group, more people means you need more food and other resources, and usually those people care less about "future of humanity" more about keep their own group alive.

i saw many things in this gameplay that was saying this is current gen . i will buy it and play it , but im not like some kid hyped trough the roof i can see not best things here and there easily, specially after hrs and hrs playing huge open worlds last months.
and devs said its so huge and new... hmm many things just went from first game to this , mean in gameplay, and many things other games allready gave us earlier , and in open worlds . But sure it will be huge , though im waiting to see next gen presentations now . specially racings, and nextgen open worlds, and sad that Crew Demo 2 didint flew.

I don't think reviewers will get on the violence too much. Tarantino movies are very violent and they get good reviews. In RDR2 you could literally blow people's heads off with a shotgun and it didn't seem to bother people.
