That's probably correct. There was a rumor that said Ratchet would be ready in 2020, even said maybe mid-2020 (I guess Sony was possibly going to do an early launch..?)

it certainly looks the most complete out of all of them. I think Ratchet would be mostly good enough. Demon's Souls for Spring would be a great launch window title to look forward to. Hopefully Horizon is fall 2021.

Sony revealed a lot, but honestly....they kept a lot close to their chest. Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, the new San Diego studio, the rumored Silent Hill project. Then you can take into account Bend, Ready At Dawn, etc....

The next time E3 2021 rolls around all those studios could show something.

ONE BIG DISAPPOINTMENT I HAVE THOUGH - No Killzone MP shooter I really wanted to be wowed again by a gritty KZ2 MP type shooter in next-gen fidelity.

I'm rewatching these trailers on my tv and some of these Indies look better than current gen heavy hitters.

I just remembered that Resident Evil 7 improved its visuals a lot after its first reveal (especially its models - remember how shitty Jack Baker looked in the first edition of the demo?). Perhaps the same thing will happen with RE8 and the models will look vastly better as the game comes together. It doesn't look bad, but the models definitely looked a step down from RE2/3's ...

So I think it will improve.

Finally watching the spiderman trailer in 4k its so much easier to appreciate the jump in quality. Theyre using the same engine but textures, polycounts and effects are ramped up way higher. the detail just doesnt show in compressed video, and it doesnt help that all environments are blurred out.

I'm still lagging behind, but gonna throw my mega post anyway. I'll try to make it as brief as possible. All are personal opinions.

Why I think the event deserves 10/10?

Well, going to the event I only expected to like around 2-3 games max, and I was amazed by so many interesting titles with original ideas! Most PS5 only games were native 4K, and looked very impressive. Let's get into them:

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

90% interest. Looks wonderful in native 4K, like all (most?) others shown. Liked the prior game, and this is most likely a spin-off like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online

0% interest. I rate it already as 4/10, one of the shittiest open world car driving, on foot gameplay animation. The game has everything, that's why most kids love it, but it's like cheap, low budget furniture store that has shit racing and driving, shit gun fight, shit pool and arcade games, shit flight. Rockstar is great with narrative although the story as I finished it has plenty of cringy, cheap jokes. I liked the GTA4 story and protagonist much, much more, probably all the previous ones in that regard.

Project Athia (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

100% interest. Looks like a pure potential of what to expect from a worthy PS5 next gen game. The gameplay visuals, although stunning looking, had the assets that are slightly rough and might leverage UE5 later on.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

100% interest. The game looks CGI! Wonderful, lots of chaos, amazing visuals and the regular interesting gameplay and story-telling.

Stray (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

80% interest. This game looks strange, not sure but gives me strange feelings like Limbo game and Journey, and seems to have something creative behind it.

Returnal (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

70% interest. Horror games aren't my type, but looks action horror which is not bad to try, and I'm all in for some sci-fi shit.

Destruction AllStars (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

100% interest. Wonderful game! Brings back memories of Twisted Metal and Destruction Derby back in PS1, with a flavor of Fortnite-like, and Rocket League. I think this will potentially be Sony's next big thing. Detailed destruction, on-foot interaction when your car destroyed so you can pick up another car. Lots of potential customization both visually and tactically!

Sackboy A Big Adventure (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

100% interest. Loved and bought all LittleBigPlanet games and spent endless ours building things there! Would love more Sackboy! Glad Sony went smart here and didn't let him disappear with the likes of LBP games on hold right now after Dreams.

Oddworld Soulstorm (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

70% interest. Mostly for nostalgia, I remember how creepy it was during the PS1 era, found in the demo free disk inside PS1. Puzzle solving and funny themed.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

100% interest. MAN! This game looks insanely good! One of the best games shown in the reveal so far! Can't wait to dive into it's charming world! Rivals Ratchet and Clank in terms of CGI quality graphics.

Goodbye Volcano High (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

50% interest. Looks strange, gives me Life is Strange vibe, and I love that one a lot. Still not sure about it, it's not clear enough.

GhostWire: Tokyo (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

60% interest. I'm not into horror games that much, but this looks like action and fun, might give it a try.

JETT: The Far Shore (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

70% interest. Strange looking game, but I'm into space and exploration. Small game as it looks, but seems like a good one.

Godfall (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

70% interest. Looks like a good game overall, interesting fight styles. Might give it a try.

NBA 2K21

0% interest. Let's skip this, I'm a football man (AKA soccer). Used to enjoy some baseball and other sports during PS1 era and before, but not much now.

Gran Turismo 7 (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

100% interest. Finally, a complete version after years. Not into circuit racing but won't heart to play some of the most played car games in my childhood and through the years. There is some slight ladder effect in some very few parts of the trailer, probably for being pre-alpha? Not sure, but better anti-aliasing would help.

Solar Ash (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

60% interest. Looks like a nice game, not sure though. Might pick it up and try it.

Demon's Souls (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

50% interest. Looks great, but I'm not a souls fan. Might give it a try.

Resident Evil Village

0% interest. Looks like a good game, but not for me.

DEATHLOOP (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

90% interest. Looks like a wonderful, fancy shooting game with lots of challenging and punishing consequences. I'll get it!

Little Devil Inside (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

90% interest. Looks very intriguing! Would love to try it out!

Horizon Forbidden West (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

100% interest. Preordering the most expensive digital copy available! One of my favorites!

Bugsnax (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)

0% interest. SKIP.

Astro's Playroom (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)

100% interest. Gonna preorder it when available and then play the older VR version on the next PSVR2!

Hitman III

10% interest. The last game was shit with insanely stupid AI. So far this doesn't look good enough.

Then comes the console and accessories reveal! I was shocked! Wonderful, sleek, thin design! Very futuristic, didn't see it coming! I would say the design deserves around 9/10 overall, I love it! Gonna get all those accessories, especially the Pulse 3D wireless headset!

GT 7, Horizon II, Demon’s Souls, Spiderman, all looked incredible. I wanted to see Demon’s Souls gameplay so bad though!

A really strong showing for Action/Platformers with Ratchet & Clank, Kena, Sackboy, and Astrobot. Ratchet & Clank in particular looked amazing.

Housemarque stepping up to the big leagues with an insane looking third-person shooter.

That’s without mentioning the pretty strong and varied Indie and third-party support. Arkane’s Deathloop looks awesome.

Where did i say this? i said people were underwhelmed, not that they disliked it. i will quote my original post here if you want to do a ctrl+F and see if you can find me saying people didnt like the event.

and even though i said it was disappointing, i dont know if i would give the youtube video a dislike. in fact, i went on to say the games looked "incredible", "stunning", "absolutely stunning", "looks CGIish" and the one game i criticized the most, i said was the best demo of the event. curious how you ignored that glowing part of the review to focus on the tiniest bit of criticism i had leveled at sony.

as for sony missing their chance and leaving MS to knock it out of the park, i literally said im sure MS will fumble that too. if anything, as a sony fan you should be upset that sony didnt go for the kill. i remember jack tretton standing there gleefully prolonging the used games part of the conference to stick the knife into MS as slow as possible. sony had the chance to do that here by showing actual next gen gameplay demos that MS couldnt show because their cross play strategy meant they are woefully late to the party, and sony just showed some more trailers instead.

Sony's marketing is absolutely delusional. When you have games like Demon Souls Remaster, Horizon 2, Spiderman 2, GT7, Ratchet and Resident Evil 8 in one show, and people come off of it underwhelmed, you have fucked up.

When you have seen the reaction to Microsoft's horrendous conference full of last gen games and indie shit no gives a shit about, you are supposed to do the complete opposite of that. Not double down. I have no idea why literally half an hour was spent on games that could've passed for switch games.

Everyone said people want to see gameplay demos from Microsoft like the ones Sony makes. Well, sony apparently doesnt make those demos anymore. The problem with not having demos is that you dont get a sense of the upgrade the CPU and the SSD would bring. Is there destruction in horizon, spiderman and demon souls? is the environment foliage interactive? are there physics? How is the SSD being utilized? Ratchet did a great job showcasing the SSD but that was literally it. If your own studios wont take advantage of the SSD, forget about third party studios. All this talk of the I/O and i swear i couldnt tell the difference. It's just prettier graphics. GT7 didnt even look that good. Sony shutdown the wrong studio because i swear DriveClub looked this good last gen.

Overall, a shockingly disappointing showing which had no business being disappointing. All they had to show was gameplay and features that make this console the biggest leap ever and they failed to do that. Their cutscene trailers didnt look as good as Microsoft's cutscene trailer either. Compare the ocean in horizon to the ocean in hellblade and its a generational difference.

MS has a great opportunity here to set the bar. Show us that next gen doesnt just mean pretty graphics, show us what makes the gameplay different. A super detailed crab isnt getting me hard anymore. i want to see hundreds of NPCs governed by that amazing CPU reacting to my actions in the world. That said, I am sure MS will fumble that too.

Apparently, showcasing games is harder than making them and these companies are fumbling over each other failing to excite us one after another.

Best Games of the Show:

- Demon Souls - absolutely stunning. it looks better than Horizon which means bluepoint has literally taken over GG as Sony's most technically advanced studio.
- Horizon - Despite the lack of gameplay, there is no denying it looks near CG at times. I wish we got to see some gameplay.
- Spiderman - From the small snippets i saw, it looked incredible.
- Ratchet - easily the best demo but there was hitching during the realm switching and that needs to be ironed out. It's clear that the ssd needs more than a second to load the next level. gameplay is more ratchet so meh. they shouldve focused on creating a demo for spiderman instead.
- Resident Evil Village - i thought this was cross gen but looked sufficiently next gen. character models were stunning.

i would love to talk about the games but sony didnt show me much gameplay did they? so cant really talk about the game part of it.

the funny thing is that you all were trashing MS when they revealed trailers in their event last month. the biggest complaint was that the games didnt look next gen enough, followed by where was gameplay demos?

the fact that we didnt see more than one gameplay demo is why we are talking about sonys marketing strategy in the first place. if they had shown gameplay, i wouldnt be talking about the marketing.

no ones complaining about "not enough gameplay" for this event because sony didnt even promise gameplay
and even then we got way more gameplay than the last xbox event, so im really not sure why youre so up in arms about this one lmao

i attack MS way more than sony. 99% of the likes i get are on posts i make making fun of xbox. i literally made a gif making fun of MS thats been viewed close to 200k times.

Did they say gameplay event? No. As a normal person, you understand it as a glimpse of PS5 future games, and it actually had many brief gameplay for most of them unless you're trying so hard not to see.

Where did i say this? i said people were underwhelmed, not that they disliked it. i will quote my original post here if you want to do a ctrl+F and see if you can find me saying people didnt like the event.

and even though i said it was disappointing, i dont know if i would give the youtube video a dislike. in fact, i went on to say the games looked "incredible", "stunning", "absolutely stunning", "looks CGIish" and the one game i criticized the most, i said was the best demo of the event. curious how you ignored that glowing part of the review to focus on the tiniest bit of criticism i had leveled at sony.

a person can like something and be underwhelmed at the same time. i wish i was a mindless drone fanboy like you want me to be, but unfortunately i have this weird human brain that allows me have multiple perspectives on something.

as for sony missing their chance and leaving MS to knock it out of the park, i literally said im sure MS will fumble that too. if anything, as a sony fan you should be upset that sony didnt go for the kill. i remember jack tretton standing there gleefully prolonging the used games part of the conference to stick the knife into MS as slow as possible. sony had the chance to do that here by showing actual next gen gameplay demos that MS couldnt show because their cross play strategy meant they are woefully late to the party, and sony just showed some more trailers instead.

I'm rewatching these trailers on my tv and some of these Indies look better than current gen heavy hitters.

What did you think of Kena? looks amazing. I usually don't care for indie games but this and little devil look stunning.

Kena looked stunning, like a Disney film come to life. I hope there’s a lot of meat to the game...hoping it’s like Zelda or something.

very intrigued and impressive to pump out visuals like this for an indie studio. PS5 being easy to develop for will really help these smaller devs

did you miss this post literally a few posts above your post? i quickly checked with my friend and admitted i got it wrong. recognized that it was indeed FUD and pointed out that i wanted no part of it, then went back and immediately edited out my post to make sure it didnt spread any further. if you read my original post that triggered rusco, you would notice that i thought it was one of the best looking games at the show.
