More PS5 Game Reveals Are Coming, Says PlayStation Boss

The gripe is with the ""We wanted AAA games that would fully demonstrate the horsepower of the machine" statement.

I don't think all those indie games demonstrated much. And surely they didn't look impossible on this gen.

Horizon and R & C were the highlight of the show. And while they looked great, they looked out of place with a bunch of indie games on the same show.

Maybe it'd of been better if they separated AAA and indies for different shows or 1st and 3rd party.

Isn’t this the very same thing that happens at all game shows, especially E3?

I personally have no issue if either company does this, it adds variety. You need to have what is essentially the new “AA” slotted and not blow your entire AAA load in one showing

There are now 3 to 4 indie games that I never even knew of or were even close to being on my radar, that I’m now super interested in and looking forward to playing on or around launch.

We don’t even know the launch lineups or the release dates for the consoles, so I’m sure they’re going to have another show presenting that with more games they held back for that release date and price reveal.

If that's all you've chosen to remember from their conference the other night then that's not their fault.

To be fair to him, what the fuck did they show that wierd dolphins with wings high school game for? Did anyone honestly care for it.

But slating Bugsnax after that really catchy song is just wrong.

I actualy didnt mind the indie titles. But yeah fuck the gta5 thing. That was a clear marketing contract flexing nothing else.

Lets just say and for what reason i dont know but neither sony or microsoft are ready for next gen and thats a shame given the extra time they had vs previous gen.

I get your frustration but hey the best isbyet to come.

And my backlog is soo full i dont mind waiting for some real hardcore true next gen aaa titles

I usually don't mind em but Sony needs to show us the actual "horsepower" and why we need to get a Ps5 day one.

My backlog is just as ridiculous. Actually halfway through Horizon now.

I'm in the same boat as well backlog-wise, it's one of two reasons I wait at least one year before getting a new system: gives me more time to catch up on backlog, and possibly getting a better deal price-wise not to mention avoiding technical issues early adopters sometimes face.

I've not even started Horizon 1 though I do have it. So when I saw the trailer for 2, I was like, "holy shit, Lance Reddick is in the game? (does quick check) And in 1 as well? That's cool!"

Worst thing for someone like me is having psnow and gamepass.
I need a divorce no job and an empty island to keep up.

I saw some showcasing of the ssd and raytracing. I just hope it will translate into some new gameplay mechanics cuz if we just bump up graphics that wont do much for me.

I am pressing x for jump the last 20 years.
Its time to evolve

My issue is I must have every new tech day one most of the time lol. If its backwards compatible, even better.

I've had Horizon since around launch and its still in the wrapper. I've had it so long i didn't wanna open it so i got the complete edition digital. I started it because of the rumors of the sequel.

You good. The first one ended in a cliff hanger so you will get the full experience all in one

Looking forward to more games/footage dropping throughout the summer. I think the event did a good job putting a variety of experiences out there, something for everyone.

Give me some next-gen MLB The Show, Sony. Pllllease
There was a ton of variety there my gaming brother

Ratchet and Clank
Gran Turismo 7
Resident Evil 8
Astrobot
Kena
Returnal
Oddworld
Horizon Forbidden West
Demolition Derby game (LOL)
Spider-man Miles Morales
NBA 2K
Sackboy

Good. Still holding on hope for Studio Japan's big game(s). Did not make an appearance yet. Rayspace, please be real.
Sad though many of the big gun studios might not release until mid gen or later, considering increasing dev time and their prior releases. Bend, SSM, ND, Sucker Punch, Media Molecule, KojiPro (whether exclusive or not) ... gonna be a long wait. Hope they got 2nd party to fill gap.

I'm excited for Death Loop as well. Looks like some fun mechanic will be there, probably some that weren't even spelled out in that trailer, and I got Bioshock vibes from some of it which will always grab my interest.

I think we'll be seeing more 3rd party games...I personally think they're gonna bombard the spring with 1st person games...Spring/Summer drops been killing it for them the past few years hasn't it?

No shit.

Show me actual gameplay this time that demonstrates a true generational leap because I don’t think Jimbo knows what that means
Imagine thinking you know better than a very successful executive who helped PlayStation become the phenomenon it is just because you shout, ‘show us gameplay’. I’m sure he and everybody else at Sony knows that.. end of the day, the reveal got the job done. period.

The fact that those games were even there in a debut showcase that was meant to demonstrate the power of their new system then it is their fault. On top of the idiot who greenlit the opening of the presentation by showing beta footage of GTAV from fucking 9 years ago
It was a sloppy presentation that could’ve been miles better.

No, the debut showcase was meant to debut the PS5. And it did that. Gay Furry Dinosaurs and Creepy Bugs was like 3 minutes out of a 75 minute show. You don't need to buy those games.

Sony needs only not to screw up with the PS5 price, show Silent Hill + God of War 2 in their next show and they've already won
Going by what we've seen from both camps, Sony has already won...….Of course Silent Hill and new God of War we know are coming and they will look great, but like anything else, the path is already well paved.....It's a guarantee that we will see more exotic cars on the road as we go along....

Of course they have more games in development both first, second and third party - did anyone think that they didn't?

I enjoyed the event but I think they do need to do another one a bit closer to launch. Maybe a State of Play closer to launch that primarily features the launch games only and has long extended gameplay walkthroughs. They still need to announce the price and release date so hopefully this is the plan.

Well, all I really want is SOCOM and more VR games. I’ve given up on Chrono Break, Legend of Dragoon, FFVIr and others.

Would be a great time to revive Jack & Daxter along with Mark of Kri.

8 future PS5 game reveals...

Naughty Dog - Factions Mode Standalone Multiplayer. The one is definitely coming and will probably be revealed relatively soon. Both Naughty Dog and Bruce Straley confirmed it's existence. (Maybe a tease at August's State of Play?)

Sony San Diego - Uncharted 5. In 2018 the MLB The Show team started spinning up a second studio and attracted a bunch of Naughty Dog talent. This reveal is probably ba ways off.

CyGames - Project Awakening. The lead developer confirmed it was still being worked on in 2019. Though it may not be a Sony exclusive, I expect it to be re revealed soon.

Ready at Dawn - ???. Leadership at the studio has been gushing about the PS5 console and controller. So much so that it wouldn't be shocking if Sony contracted them for another exclusive.

Guerilla Games - ???. In 2018 Guerilla hired two leads from Ubisoft with FPS experience. A specific job listing asked for "You will build a robust backend that can scale up to serve many concurrent users". Many concurrent users. That's the interesting, if vague, phrase. Does this mean Horizon II will have a robust multiplayer component (more than just Co op) or does this mean they're working on a stand alone multiplayer title? Killzone Battle Royale?

- Japan Studio - Silent Hill Reboot, Rayspace. Sounds like the Silent Hill Reboot has smoke to it. Rayspace, a space combat game, also seems to be rumored.

It's a no brainer they will, they still have to do a teardown of the console, show OS features etc....And of course state the launch lineup......There is still much more I think they will reveal in the coming months. They still have to do a presentation on BC, I guess they will do that when they do the OS....

I mean if all your interested in are Furries and Insects more power to you but I saw some other really interesting looking games during the stream.

I have to admit one of my favorite games was a furry one.

I thought the game looked pretty amazing alongside Horizon Zero Dawn 2. I also liked Demon Souls but I didn't see enough to come to a conclusion.

I won't have to wait two years for a real next gen game. I'm pretty sure that within the first year I'll be able to pick one up. Maybe even at launch.

They nailed her design.

and show how me the SSD/IO is years ahead of PC. Show me games with UE5 tech demo graphics level please. Thanks.

Say that to Phil Spencer as well.

Ratchet and Clank looked more impressive than all thr games shown at Xbox's last event put together.

Seriously?

That's not saying much when all the May event showed was AA cross gen games. Something would be VERY wrong if Sony 1st party games didn't look better than AA cross gen games. NO?

Wait until we see 1st paryt XSX exclusives and then compare.

Stop with the stupid fanboy nonsense

Your gripe is obviously with Sony.

You highlight that AAA-title line, but conveniently leave out the very next line, which gives context.
"But some of these smaller games are making very cool and innovative use of the new features of the console , so we allowed the show to give a sense of the sheer range of gameplay experience that will be available on PlayStation 5. "

It's just PR spin. To think they held back some of their AAA game reveals to showcase indies is a joke. That's all they had ready at the time.

It was still a decent offering just don't BS us with things like this 😂.

So there is still hope for Silent Hill. Fingers Crossed. Although RE8 is already quite nice tbh.

Hopefully that includes UI navigation. And mooooore gaaaames.

Yes, this. A Spiderman game and some random indie bullshit is not going to make me spend 500 bucks + x
Still have my hopes up for dying light 2 and/or cyberpunk 2077 as launch titles.

Shinobi (Insider) made a statement suggesting people wait to see the official launch lineup of the PS5 before assuming Spider Man Morales is the "anchor" game.

This suggests to me that it's possible Sony held back a card or two for an August event.

No they weren’t.
If anything it proved the majority of PS5 games will be 4K and not lower as people were expecting Xbox to capitalise on that area.
native 4k for games is the baseline expectation for a machine more than twice as powerful as PS4pro

After all the concern trolling on gaf, I'm actually surprised that R&C was running at native 4K at that graphical fidelity, so much dynamic stuff going on and the world shifting.

Next-gen is going to awesome.

Yeah, they did say that this event is the first of a series.

The first was pretty good, showcasing a variety of games and what's possible on next gen. I also liked that it had more focus on 1st party and that it also didn't feature dull yearly franchises.

However, I would prefer for the next ones to have more extended gameplay, have some technical info, and to be clear with release dates/windows.
