Halo Infinite Teaser Got 2 Million Views, 81K Likes, 24K Retweets in 8 Hours

Ugh. I hate Instagram and Twitter being used as metrics for video games.

Will this be the new console wars battleground stat?

Can we please stop this dumb fucking trend now?
I actually have no problem with social media metrics, but we really need to come together as a group and agree if these numbers are to be celebrated or not? Cause after the PS5 reveal, there were a few threads pointing out how some games have succeeded despite not having a lot of social media attention. And how these numbers don't mean anything. We counting this or not? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

My second most anticipated game this year. I'm playing through Halo on PC right now to refresh myself. I hope they make the MCC 120hz on Series X. All
Halo fans should get a chance to play those games at a high framerate.

Did people forget the 343 Industries is making it?

A lot of new lead/senior devs work on Halo Infinite that were not involved in Halo 4/5. It's a reboot of sorts and on a new engine with a massive budget and manpower. Lots to be excited about.

Troy Mashburn (Horzion Zero Dawns lead combat designer/senior desiger) is the Gameplay Director/Lead Sandbox Designer on Halo Infinite campaign.

Paul Crocker Lead Narrative designer at Rocksteady (The Batman games) is the Narrative Director on Halo Infinite

Just a few examples

That's good to hear, Halo Guardians was an abomination. If it's a different team, should be different results.

It's proof the Banished are in Halo Infinite. They are apparently revolting against the Covenant based on the assumed intercepted propaganda messaging.

The banished are Jiralhanae (Brutes) that revolted and left the Covenant before the events encompassing Reach - Halo 3.

The Covenant tried to wipe them out but was never able to, then the Human/Covenant war went into full swing. During these events Atriox and his Banished grew in size and strength. They took on other Covenant forces that questioned the Hierarchs and the Great Journey and continued to amass numbers as the Covenant dealt with humanity. He also captured a large fleet of ships from the Covenant while they were busy fighting humanity.

Long after the events of Halo 3 Atriox came across the Ark and swiftly wiped out the UNSC forces that were working to study and decommission it. The Ark is roughly the same diameter as Jupiter, and the UNSC deployment on the Ark was massive as it has a slip-space portal leading directly to the African continent on Earth as well as the ability to construct new Halo rings. Eliminating that force in such a short time is something even the Covenant at full strength couldn't accomplish. The Banished are a militarized mercenary turned outright war machine whose only goal is the power to conquer all.

In Halo Wars 2, you face the Banished with the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire, one of the largest ships the UNSC ever built at 2500 meters that was designed to install a colony very quickly, but was redesigned to quickly install a powerful military after the unrest with several colonies and the UNSC during the human civil war. Spirit of Fire also has several Spartan IIs (same strength/skill/training as Master Chief) on board. In Halo Wars the ship uses it's slips-pace engine as a bomb to destroy a Covenant force and a Forerunner Shield World, which resulted in it being stuck at sub-light speeds for 28 years while the crew went into cryo-sleep. The Spartan II's on board are all still in their prime. In their first encounter Atriox single-handedly kicked the shit out of several Spartan IIs and with one hand crushed a Spartan II in his Mjolnir armor.

By the end of Halo Wars 2 you push Atriox back, but don't defeat him. At the end of the dlc expansion, he and the Brutes are still on the Ark with control of the drones and most systems.

The teaser today was the Banished informing humanity that they are coming for them.

I posted these in another thread today but they demonstrate how strong the Brute soldiers in the Banished are. The are the smartest and strongest of their species and they amassed an army of other ex-Covenant soldiers like the Sangheili, Unggoy, various Jackal races, and the Lekgolo.

After Halo ODST i pretty much lost interest in the franchise, but i'm willing to give infinite a shot on PC.
Does anyone have any news about a pc release date?
I'd bet good money it's Day and Date with. Series X via Gamepass for PC

hiding it like this seems like a mistake, should've embraced open transparency with multiplayer and flight tests from the jump

please tear down 343 if they fail to deliver

They got the lead Combat Designer from HZD!!?? No one can convince me that MS isn't serious about this launch, they are balls to the wall this time

im genuinely surprised tbh. Im a massive Halo 1,2,3 fan but i assumed Halo lost all its mindshare with Halo 4. And then 5 failed to recapture much so i really didnt think many people would care about Halo Infinite unless it turned out stellar.

I truly hope they pull it off. They need to remove pretty much every new ability added after halo 3. They need timeless maps like 1,2,3 all had in spades. But at the same time they need something fresh.

i think they need to bring back the core gameplay but then really beef up the social side of things. For whatever reason, when i boot up Halo 5 i feel isolated and lonely but when i used to load up Halo 2 i could feel the community. Just little things like showing the current player count, having proximity chat, having community events, having a ranking system that allows you to show off your rank which in turn makes people more competitive and willing to chat.

When I play Overwatch i feel like Im in an shared experience because theres a great connection to the outside world within the game. I want that back in Halo

Halo is definitely a franchise which makes Xbox more appealing to the general market. There's a lot of nostalgia there for the average Joe coming across it in Target or whatever, "Wow, Halo - I remember that!".

MS hooks 'em with Halo, then introduces them to GamePass which is just as revolutionary as Xbox Live was initially. Spread the word of Gears, Forza, etc vicariously.

PS4 holds such dominance that people have forgotten exactly what Xbox has to offer. The reaction tothis simple teaser is a promising sign of things to come.

Series X may not beat PS5 pound for pound, but they'll help Xbox find their footing and there is definitely something to he said for that. Halo Infinite is the tipping point

Xbox could use some hype for sure. Sony kept relatively quiet for 2 years preparing for next gen while Microsoft tried to take advantage of that silence generating news and good will for their gaming platform. Now they look out of gas.
I hope this is a joke lol. I wouldn't call Microsoft trying to take advantage, they've been readying up for this upcoming gen.

"Nobody cares about Halo anymore"

Lost count of how many times I've read that on this website.

lol, sure guys. Whatever you say.
It's hyperbole on their part of course, but I also think it's fair to say Halo's mainstream popularity isn't what it once was. Especially in comparison to the level of popularity the series had during Halo 2 and 3. That's not to say it can't reach those heights again though.

He also worked as game designer on Killzone 3, which is my favourite Killzone game. Halo Infinite is certainly in good hands.

Damn, with the variety of enemies in Halo's universe this can only be good news. KZ3 was solid as hell

I don't think that the new abilities ruin the game, neither did the Halo 3 equipments, although neither is great.
The problems of Halo 4 and 5 are the core gameplay, enemies (mechanics and AI) and the scale.
I hope they fix it, then they can add as many new items, abilities, weapons, enemies, and, hopefully, new cool mechanics as well.

This past gen, my gaming interest has really decreased. I'm posting on message boards and my interest to talk about games is there. Play them, not so much. But there is just something about Halo that reminds that I really want to play it. I got goosebumps at the end of the E3'18 and E3'19 trailers.

I can't tell if this thread is satire in a response to all the attention Sony's been getting with certain Sony reveals such as the console and game trailers reaching big numbers on social media. So I'm not sure if this is Xbox fans saying "here look, look we-we can do it too! We made a number!"
