I'm ready to start eating, who's ready to serve first... I've heard crow tastes like chicken. LOL

Being serious, I thought a lot of the games looked interesting. It seems like they are going a different direction with SoD3, but with nothing but the little bit of CGI it's hard to tell.

Everwild looks imaginative, but I just don't know what that game is even trying to be.

I am not even going to give you shit, after watching that you have been through enough pain.
Peace brother

It could be 16K and it would still look like horse piss. It's not about the resolution, it's about detail, design and overall fidelity.
Detail, design and fidelity was amazing... All the animals that were running around, they deliberately looked at that. Combined with 4k 60fps, open world with smooth gameplay. Basically everything I wanted from Halo after the GaaS rumors. Will probably play it as long as I did Skyrim

Well hey, more power to you. Personally I'd be pissed if that was a top dollar budget AAA game on a next gen system I'd been looking forward to. Some other games in the showcase made it look like a joke imo and I can see no excuse for it, really.

After this show, Sony certainly has no pressure to move and I think it's not unlikely that Sony will announce the price of the PS5 after Microsoft. And that would really be the knockout.

This is the worrying thing now. Sony were seeming like they we’re gearing up to respond to a major Xbox blow out.

This might make Sony put those plans back in the box again - no need to play cards if the opponent is already unable to match what’s on the table.

I think console warriors should feel pretty dumb for all the petty squabbling to date. As many of us predicted, games will look the same on both systems. I don't think there's any point trying to claim supremacy of one system over another, because at the end of the day, you won't be able to discern multiplats from each other, and the best games on each system should offer equally stunning visuals.

My favorite so far are Everwild on the XSX and Horizon on the PS5. Both titles stood out from the pack in their respective shows.
The games don't look the same, the Sony ones look far better.

Exactly. I wanted something that would made me insta buy XSX because that would mean that SONY would need to try harder. But SONY doesn't need to do anything after this failure.
MS with gamepass i best for poor gamers. And thats their value.

Yeah I play for the gameplay not the graphics. I don't expect that from Halo at all. If they push for native 4K, running at 60fps, available on Xbox One, it won't look as good as the new HZD. Don't understand why people would expect that.

I mean, I don't actually care since I was never into the franchise, but I simply don't understand it. What were they thinking. They shouldn't have showed it in this state.
what do you mean this state? this is its only state.

its a game designed on to run at 60 fps on a jaguar cpu and 1.3 tflops. you can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig.

Wow so that was it.... you cannot hype up a console with such arrogance, bang on about being the most powerful and have the dealers of this world eating out your hand expecting huge difference to PS5, then only show that.

There is NOTHING shown there that PS5 cannot do or do almost exactly the same from what I saw.

PS5 killed Xbox IMO with that one line....Everything you see from this point on is running on PS5 hardware. Boom!

I didn't see a single mention of it actually running on Series X. Given a lot (or was it all?) of the last show was shown on a PC and expected quality, how do we know what we saw today was on the SX. Genuine question.

To push such a narrative of 12TF is looking a bit ridiculous now. No wonder they changed their messages to basically TFlops don't matter as much.....

There was lots of pop in in Halo, not sure what that was running on...

All in all that was disappointing.

Ouch.

But you know this is the side effect of chasing frames and res - still image caps look awful.

I did wonder if this is why MS have been shy of showing anything on Xsex - they know that stills wouldn’t look good.

Maybe it feels good playing it. Then again it’ll probably feel good on xb1 and a pc from 6 years ago too.

I went into the xbox show with no expectation and I was surprised by the diversity of genres. Never been a halo fan and was not blown away by that demo. But the rest of the show wasn't too bad if you just think outside the box. Or should I say xbox series x. If this was a current gen showing I would have been more impressed I guess.

Has been a lot of talk about the 12tf powerhouse but I didn't quite see it.

A couple of interesting games but I'm not leaving PS over this.

I'm rewatching Halo from the recording to see it without the livestream hiccups. I'm sorry, this just doesn't look good. It's not even just the tech, it's the way this is put together. The ambient lighting is flat and dead. Geometries are simple and scattered. The world is empty, static and flat. Textures are a mixed bag, and Master Chief's armour of all things looks the worst (armour and gloves look almost sub-HD to me). I was expecting this game to look like a cross gen game, because that's exactly what it is, but I think the issues run deeper here. The "it looks like a PS3 game" is hyperbolic but there is something deep down there, it's almost like the environments were designed to run on a potato and then the developers just turned all the mesh and texture sliders to max with varying results, and the final effect as a consequence is a bit jarring. Those development hell rumors definitely make sense with what we saw today.

Now my question is, why the hell is Microsoft pushing THIS of all of their games so much to the forefront, if it frankly looks like one of the worst of the bunch? Do they really hope to sell the console on the Halo name alone, who cares what the game looks? Couldn't they ask the guys from Medium to give them 3 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay recorded on an SXS? Can't they produce 60 damned seconds of a car racing in Forza just to show some real time ray tracing (just like Sony did with GT7)?

It's almost August people, it's likely around 100 days until you can buy an SXS, and we are still to see a SINGLE piece of footage that unequivocally shows that this machine can perform as it looks like it should on paper. This is all very wrong. Either the people in charge of PR are HORRENDOUS at their job, there are deeper issues under the hood (in terms of optimization tools on the current devkits), or a combination of both.

My thoughts of this presentation are

-Halo looks good but just that for those who say the Xbox one doesn't hold back anything I mean please stop, the main enemy is the same
of halo wars 2 which is good and bad but let's see how this involve.
-The Rare game could be good but I need to see more.
-Ori to 120 fps 4k, yes thank you and yes this looks much better than any dolphin game but not Ori even when is gorgeous is not a tech showcase
-Medium looks good and is using the SSD in a great way with breathtaking effects but the graphics are good just that, is okay
-Stalker 2 that is good but we need to wait a couple of years again to see it released (niche game so it's not very popular)
-State of decay 3 .... bro really
-New game of Obsidian is something I want to see but I want to see in real time but I am still excited, the worst enemy of elder scrolls could be here
-Hellblade ... see you in e3/summer fest of 2022
-Double fine is okay
-Warhammer was a CGI so not much to say
-Crossfire is okay but as we saw so few fragments of gameplay I can't say if is closer to current gen or next gen
-Fable was good I expect great things from Playground but was just another cinematic
-Tetris is okay but the version of other platform will have the same and not is not graphics benchmark

The conference was just fine, too many CGI and looks like we need to wait a couple of years until we see the real next gen graphics in XSX but hey the old Xbox one
doesn't hold back the games ..... good joke.

Totally agree.

I was playing GoT expecting MS to knock it out of the park and be thinking this is the last PS 1st party game I’ll play for a good few years.

Little did I know what was coming though.

I also wonder if you get what you pay for - gamepass is cheap, and the games MS are able to put out with that income stream match the price.

But they will anyway. At worst, they'll get cocky and announce the price first.
I don't see how 'announce price first' = 'getting cocky' instantly like what the fuck?! one of them has to go first in reality anyway and any one who goes first is now 'cocky'?? like find other shit to throw at Sony but not this 'they are getting cocky again' shit again

You and many others were making that exact argument, that cross-gen policy would not at all affect game output.
It's also quite bad when your gameplay segment gets blown the fuck out by Destiny 2 in the same conference.

Yeah, I was wrong. Still don't care that much to be honest. I never played games for their visuals, although Forza looked insanely good. Gameplay wise I didn't see a problem at all, loved how it played.
