Gonna take a wild guess here, ready?

- Ram speed increase
- Slight CPU upclock (circa 200/300 MHz)
- *wild swing for the fences* 2 more CUs enabled due to high yields of thiese RDNA 2 waffers :)

theoretically only the 1st would have an impact of price
I hope!

A question that I have is how are the CUs activated? Like can Sony just release a patch that activates them or do they have to do this on a hardware level?

Have no idea on PlayStation. I believe there were some of the Phenom/Athlon chips where you could unlock cores that were turned off. If you were lucky enough to get a chip that was not faulty, but just created to fit a certain model.

With Sony there is no question what system the game has been captured on though. I think Xbox should just say we release on PC so we are going to show it on PC. They need to stop with this Power narrative though...it's no good to brag power if the lower system looks better lol.

Thing is even a really powerful PC ( say a Zen 3/RDNA GPU) in theory will be holding XSX back when it comes to the XVA and SSD until those are addressed on PC.

Right now you may as well stick with/upgrade an existing PC or buy the cheap Lockhart+gamepass. There is zero incentive to pay $500+ for XSX and get no real benefits from it game wise. Just throwing money away and giving the hardcore the 12TF bragging rights.

On the topic of RGT's new video about possible spec upgrades....I'm very skeptical. Detailed specs have been confirmed for a while and the consoles are being made for weeks now.

For PS5 it also has to be remembered the cooling system is designed around a fixed and predictable power budget so any upgrade in specs would mean a complete redesign for the cooling/case size/PSU.

Along with my price guesses I will say no upgrades from announced main specs (RAM/TF/clocks). Not that I would moan if it did happen of course!

HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 , I'm curious--if you can't divulge, I understand. Could these rumored "spec bumps" coincide with the information you heard from various sources about PS5 running at ~11.5TF?

They could've bumped specs of any number of things. We don't know their situation, only speculation. They did RAM in the PS4 very last minute. They could've done a few things in a few short months.

Where are my Xbox fanboys at?

We have to move through the steps and get back in action trolling participating on GAF. Being serious though, that conference has struck the Xbox community, very little activity after the showing.

I do wonder how they managed to have this big of a gap in game development. It really looks like they are 2 or 3 years out on any of the major projects.

Thanks, Heisen.

Moreover, how long until Sony reacts to this lackluster showing? I'm still of the mindset of first or second week of August.

Feels weird chomping at the bit to pre-order a next gen console(either one) until early or mid-August.

Most of us wouldve had our pre-orders in over a month ago.

Nope:

Digital Foundry: If we can go on to GDDR5 and the PlayStation Meeting in New York... 8GB, it surprised everyone. Was it really that late in the day that the decision was made to bump up the memory? You said earlier that you weren't in the meeting where the developers were demanding it, how crucial was it?

Mark Cerny: That was really a case where our developer-driven process worked. So we received feedback, we listened to the feedback, we altered the hardware as a result. As far as how late it was in the process, actually what you're seeing there is just the developers were very, very good about keeping information confidential. As near as I can tell that all came from one rogue hacker, who wasn't even disclosed by us, how managed to hack into a developer and extract both the Microsoft and Sony documentation.

The GDDR5 change happened >18 months before launch. I can't see any spec bumps 4 months from launch (Xbox One was a unique fluke IMO).

There has been a Culling for sure and a heck of alot of crow eatern. However, I am sure the lemming troop will drag them selves back up from the depths of the oceans eventually.

Hats of to you and X-fighter for being brave enough to show your faces around here, that or your both a couple of masochists. :messenger_grinning:

spec bumps? lmao

yeah its another secret sauce is it
Come on guys there is no PS5 spec bump. We know what we are getting. Let’s get real.
I already warned them in another thread, guys this is a BAD LOOK.
Depends on the spec bump. Things like memory and clockspeed can be bumped up. For example with the X1 they bumped up the clock speed and with the PS4 they doubled the amount of memory.

It isn't a GPU in power brick type of thing.
Ok, yesterday it was additional CU's activation and now a clockspeed bump ?
Lol at what frequency do you want your Ps5 to run in ?
Forget additional memory, just deal with the specs.

Well this is a speculation thread and somebody brought up a rumor of a spec bump. I don't believe it myself but that doesn't stop me from speculating.

I don't really understand what this is supposed to convey.

I'm simply making conversation, as I'm not technically minded and would rather have things explained why things may or may not be plausible. I'm very much a layman.

If, for some reason, that triggered you and that GIF is an attempt to come across crass or insult me, I apologize for causing that.

I mean I called it for months. Each time someone said MS is deliberately not making Series X exclusives to be consumer friendly, I told them "it makes no bloody sense, it had to be because their games are too far out from launch day". And now I am proven right 100%.
Oh well, at least now we can get some peace and quiet now that the "consumer friendly Xbox" copy-paste is dead.

The "there will be no held back by previous gen because it is build from the ground up for Series X" can be put to rest too. I guess even I couldn't guess that Halo Infinite would end up being the ONLY 1st party Series X game that would be crossgen. So what Xbox PR really meant is "there would be no holding back by previous gen other than Halo because none of our new games 2022 onward are actually going to run on XboxOneS."

Xbox fans would not be forced to upgrade to play next gen games... Because the games would not be out for two more years.

The TF stuff before reveal and all the fake insiders - its like you time warped from discussions 6 months back that are long old and dead.

Well, maybe they had something good before, but that Halo Infinite sound effects and dead environment sounds is something to expect from counter strike and PS2/OG xbox era.
No, I mean now. Maybe that this hasn't been properly integrated into this crappy demo, but their sound team is crazy good. I think they have their own Instagram even, with a lot of updates. I remember a topic here on NeoGAF that had a lot of their videos

I suppose I'm guilty of giving them the benefit of the doubt. Not out of "consumer friendliness" but just because I thought that they were concerned about sales projections and wanted to safeguard the subscription services.

You saw a single cross gen game. That’s not a fair comparison

I don't think anyone's expecting that, we're just curious as to why it's a rumour in the first place...
It was a response to this (guessing) young lady.

Does it hurt so much, yes?
Sorry to disappoint but males don't feel the same way females does, females are sensitive.
And why would i be hurt in the first place ?

Oh speculating.

Did you speculate what "Captured from" can possibly mean ? no ?

I don't think they played an MP4 on the PS5 and just recorded it.

The footage came from a PS5 that much has been confirmed. Plus Digital Foundry spotted faults in alot of the footage so it definitely wasn't done on a render farm and just played back on the PS5. That would be false marketing.
