Gran Turismo 7 could possibly be releasing this December

It looks pretty far into development already, although I think some of the tracks they were doing for GTS, they just transitioned over to GT7, like Trial Mountain for e.g.....I think when GT7 hits it's polish phase it's going to be nerve wracking how good it will look.....Looking back at the GT7 trailer after the recent Forza 8 reveal.....GTS is straight bonkers at 4k 60fps with raytracing......What we saw in the trailer will only get more impressive, since it's already a locked 4k 60.....with probably lots of room for polish...

Yes! I really look forward to seeing that amazing GT lighting that they keep improving on in the many tracks. It's going to look crazy

🔥 Whew. It does go along with what Sony has been saying too. They said they're doubling down on big budget games

They also said they have more games in production than ever and exclusives are more important than ever 💪
Link to them saying they have more games in production now then ever?

Sorry if this has been pointed out already but, most stores used December as an arbitrary date to they have an actual release date

If it is true, that is monumental news. Pretty sure everyone didn't expect gt for like two years

I suspect this game might come out sooner than people think. But this is probably just the store's placeholder date.

If they're not launch, what is?

Spider-Man and Horizon?

Horizon is confirmed for next year. I guess Returnal, Sackboy and Destruction Allstars could be potential candidates for launch (along with Spidey)

It's completely possible. They rushed GT6 out the door to catch some end-of -life sales for the franchise on the PS4, there's no reason they can't spit-shine the GTS assets, slap on a SP mode and call it GT7.

Gran Turismo 7 and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart could be releasing much sooner than originally thought.

Ya sure, pull the other one! Gran Turismo 7 to be released in December, go tell that to the marines.
Gran Turismo 7 ain't gonna hit the streets before NASA's James Webb Space Telescope is gonna launch.

In case anyone for got these articles....

And then much later..

Interesting stuff.

Dude... if the DE is $399... the console war is over and PS5 wins again. There's very little chance the XSX is coming at $449, let alone $399.

The part I found interesting wasn’t the pricing. It’s that in November of 2019, in the first article, they have a plausible release date of November 20, 2020 for the system. They are also pretty close on the possible release of Gran Turismo 7. At the time, I’m not sure we knew about Gran Turismo 7 being Gran Turismo 7 or being a launch or launch window title.

nothing to do with the pricing.

Ah yes, Sony send out cover art placeholder cases for a game that they haven't even announced yet to some obscure foreign retail store. Definitely believable.

You guys are insane if you think Insomniac is gonna release two games for the ps5 launch lol. Sony spaces things out and the console will sell out anyways. There's no need for all these at launch and this won't happen.

I've had this feeling... based mostly on the ever evolving state of GT Sport... that they planned and are going to do this.

Release GT7 in a "B+" state in terms of maybe car content.... and an A+ state in terms of the foundation.... and then slowly add content so that by the time Forza is there they re-release with all the last year of DLC on disc.

I'll never forget reading that GT Sport cars were created as assets for a more powerful machine and then scaled down to PS4. They should be ready.

I really would love GT7 for launch. Spiderman isn't enough.

Its also entirely possible that they didn't announce because they didn't want the date to slip. I think we have another Sony event in August? They'll probably announce price, and if insider stuff is to be believed, show God of War, SOCOM, and give release dates I'm thinking.
There is supposed to have more PS events before PS5 launch. So yes, if not in August we'll see the next one in September.
Socom is more than dead and there isn't any single reason to bring it back. I'm 100% sure they won't release another Socom game.

It's too soon for GoW, the game may be on track to be released on 2021 or 2022 but they still have to tell a lot of stuff of the already announced games and the console itself.

I think they won't announce GoW2 until next year, they better save its announcement for next year because they already have the PS5 hype way above they expected right now, and they need to have big announcements for next year. Because other than that and the next year and beyond they'll have only to be announced the next Sony Japan game, Days Gone 2, if Kojima repeats with them his next game and maybe FFVIIR ep 2.

No way GT Sport is still going strong Sony would shut off the GT Sport Server like they did Driveclub before releasing GT7 to get the max playerbase instead of having them divided between GT Sport and GT 7.

I play GT Sport frequently. Polyphony has been slowing down their monthly updates since the beginning of this year, and the general sentiment around the community is that they’re saving up the goods for GT7. While GT Sport is still going strong, it would still make sense for GT7 to come out in December or Q1 2021.

Daily and FIA race combinations have been getting stale and most of us are hungry for a new game. GT7 would make the PS5 a day one buy for a lot of people; especially for those who have been waiting for the classic GT offline modes.

Last GT i experienced was GT5, had the opportunity to get the game at launch with a special edition during my stay in Singapore. What a staggering experience it was back then. Missed out on GT Sport, so damn eagerly waiting for this numbered entry on PS5.

Man I hope so, would be an excellent launch game. The one thing that puts me off playing racing games regularly is all the load screens before and after each race, it gets boring, next gen should virtually get rid off that I hope. Fighting games also have/had this problem for me.

Guess you've never heard of a game called Call of Duty.

Hopefully they have version 1.0 this year and then proceed to update it every single month like sport got at one point.

I think the chances are pretty slim. It is more probable, that we will get a PS5 GT Sport patch.

GT7 could be great. Visually it will be awesome, but the physics and features need to be there. I hope, we will get a greater track and car amount than GT Sport.

But Nordschleife and some proper cars are enough to satisfy me anyway.

If a big PS5 patch comes out for GT Sport then it will mean GT7 is still far away. Otheriwse it would be losing many potential GT7 customers, because they'd already have a Gran Turismo game with PS5 graphics.

I wonder if GT Sport will just become the online component of GT7.

That's an interesting thought. Maybe even make Sport free to play.

I want seperate accounts for online and offline. I hate how you have to be online to make progress in Single Player mode in GTS.

Would love to play GT7 and Ratchet on launch. I'd get both of them day 0
Spider-Man, Kena, Cyberpunk and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
That would mean no next gen game at launch, I don't think Sony would allow that. (Spiderman may be next gen only, not sure right now, but it is an old gen spin off).

It looked pretty far into development. We've seen gameplay, menus etc. I hope it's a launch title. I'll buy a day 1 PS5 without question if it is.

I always thought the "Oh you think X game is releasing soon? Guess you don't know the developer..." was pretty irrational.

Death Stranding was the last title to shut those people up.

Ratchet and Grand Turismo showed the most gameplay so it's possible those two titles are closest to completion.

I don’t think so - I think there are a lot of people who still want the “traditional” GT gameplay and will buy it Day1 even if the graphics are identical to GTS at that point.

I don’t feel like Sony are really chasing sales with GT anymore - it’s become a marquee title and tech demonstrator. The amount of time they give to PD seems bizarre. Just GTS on the entire PS4 generation.

If anything GT7 should be a day 1 launch title in any normal sense. As it happens I think GT may have shown more gameplay at the reveal than any other title - didn’t measure to the minute but there was a lot of it and R&C.

If it wasn’t GT I’d say the game is locked in for early release. But bitter experience with GT leads me to be cautious....

Ratchet, maybe, GT? No chance for December, unless we're talking about 2054.

EDIT:
On a second thought, they might actually release what they already have and update the game down the road, like they did with GT6 and Sport, so technically the game would debut in 2020, but would be be truly completed in 2022-23.

Well they can slap campaign mode on GT Sport and call it a day. Add few tracks and cars and we're golden.
But yeah, this is PD..

I know PD are...PD, but if you look at the average time between games they release, you’re looking at 3-4 years between instalments (with GT5 being the outlier). The game could be a lot closer than what we think. I’m still not sold on it being a launch title, but I also don’t think it’ll come out any later than Winter 2021.

Not to mention, Polyphony Digital are currently hiring what seems like bug fixers, which insinuates that the game is to be pretty polished, and much further along than we think.

Um that looks like GT5 badly photoshopped. Why would you believe this?

Edit: it's not fake but I think it's a placeholder cover and date. Would love to be wrong though.

People are smoking meth if they think we're getting GT7 this christmas, enjoy the pipe dreams.

if it releases with the graphics we saw in the demo, it's obviously rushed, given how it was running with GTsport settings and the only real upgrade was a slightly higher resolution and very low resolution raytracing reflections in some scenes.

I zoomed to 800%, and slapped on my by-knock-you-larz, but I don't see the "Prologue" on that box cover. Seems like fake news IMO. PD having the full game at launch sounds like a pipedream.
