I dont feel I got played at all. I didn't mind her character. The way Joel got done was kinda hamfisted but it made sense why Abby did what she did. In fact I found the whole revolving revenge stories to be quite interesting.

It doesn't surprise me if Ghost Of Tsushima will overtake TLOU2 player count and sales at the end with that harsh drop of TLOU2 leg momentum.

Loved the game. I'm so glad the company took risks that would potentially piss off its fans. I can't remember the last time I felt something playing a game due to the story...anger, sadness, shock, surprise etc. Love or hate the game, at least you FELT something. In any case, sony first party has become a bonafied powerhouse this gen.

I was one of those who said that the game was gonna sell well initially due to the hype around the first game but could struggle later on due to people disliking its politics and poor direction as a sequel, which in turn could seriously damage the franchise. Many people laughed at me then, but it was pretty obvious.

People didn't even know the entire plot, and they were already accusing ND of pushing a strong agenda such as

People here on GAF are still quoting its sales as some sort of victory and are forgetting that they were on the back of the hype of the first game, but there's been a massive drop off since. This is the type of game that could be in top 10 for like a year at least, but instead it's breaking records for the biggest drop off for a major Sony title. The franchise is seriously damaged as far as I'm concerned and people will not rush to buy the sequel (if they make one) after what happened with this game.

Not surprising at all to me, can only put up with a game actively trying to make me feel bad for so long. Haven’t seen 1st party game shed players so fast. Barely anyone I know finished it, and even the few that did didn’t want to talk about it like we did with spider man and god of war.

It isn't that simple but many of it's biggest critics are the ones obsessed with being anti-sjw. There is a big overlap. On Restera and other progressive platforms it has received a much better reception.
Those are not sales, it's player count. Which includes borrowed and used copies.
For reference, TLOU 1 has a 43,500,000 total player count, but it sold half that.

Maybe so but the reception for the most part seems divided on politics. Not with every case but it is a factor. The youtubers who make a bunch of videos about a game they claim to hate are the sames who have a war against anything that can remotely be construed as woke.

The second game will sell well, but likely a massive drop from the first. I still loved the game and ND has so much talent, but at this point Neil's ego needs to be put in check. He didn't need to go THAT grim and depressing. Thats not even getting into the playing as Abby half the game. ND is/was Sony's golden studio. If you think they shouldn't take a long hard look in the direction they went for TLOU 2 after the sales drop, than you are crazy
Neil needs to stop trying to be gamings progressive version of GRRM. He is not talented enough to pull that off (no video game writer is yet)

I'm disappointed it went woke, but look forward to playing it for the first time on PS5.

6M is the total player count the sales might be lowered since the report of 2nd hand copy on the market is so rampant.
TBF, even with 6M sales in 45 days it's still low for highly anticipated Sony PS4 exclusive on 112M userbase with gigantic promotions and marketing from Sony.
For example
Smash Ultimate - 12 million in 24 days
Pokemon SwSh - 16 million in 45 days
Animal Crossing NH - 11 million in 11 days

I'm fine with it being grim and depressing, I just didn't like how transparently manipulative it tried to be with getting me to sympathize with Abby. I understood Abby right from the get go. "You killed my father, prepare to die." Ok, got it. Totally understandable. I didn't need 15 hours of playing as her, with moments of showing how nice she can be in contrast to how brutal Ellie can be, to get me to like her. It felt cheap. On top of that the pacing and the overly long length hurt the narrative for me.
It's by no means a bad game, but people thinking it's a "10/10 Masterpiece!" need to get a grip. Read a good book for starters.
Also I hate to say it but:
Joel was by far the most interesting character, and now he's gone, and his relationship with Ellie was the bread and butter of TLoU. Him being gone is like when Michael left The Office as far as I'm concerned. If you're gonna lose your best character, at least have other great characters carry the weight of the story. But the characters of TLoU2 aren't nearly as interesting or likeable.

All of these games have sold bonkers. Sony is raking in that cash from all these stellar games, Lou2, Tsushima, GOW, Horizon are not fighting each other. Ellie and Abby, Jin Sakai, Kratos, Atreus and Aloy are all soaking in a hot spring right now, playing the flute and drinking some of the best brewed tea this side of the east.....Stop pitting Sony games against each other, just realize that Sony first party games are bursting at the seams breaking all types of records this gen...

What makes you say this? Not even shitposting, but all signs points towards underwhelming sales. I would love to be proven wrong here though, as much as I don't like Sony games and especially recent ND games, the team had to push through so much shit to actually release this game.
