No no Series X uses BDXL like One X did. Old first version of Xbox One doesn't, that's why when you buy Standard there is no option for Series X disc, and the other cross-get Edition has to include BDXL for Series X and standard BD for Xbox One.
He is talking about games. They r burned on normal blu rays and that why u can put a xsx game in it x1 original and install the game . Yes xsx plays 4k blurays but games are on normal blurays

They laugh because MS just cannot force publishers, they will just find a loophole like Activision did.
Yeah, and that's a shame. You would think people are on the side of Microsoft on this. Because if Microsoft would've been able to make this happen, the same would happen for Sony, so all gamers would benefit from it.

Xbox has never said or confirmed what discs Xbox Series X will use. Only Sony has.

No, Xbox One uses 50 GB BDs for game discs. They do have UHD Blu-ray drives for 4K UHD Blu-ray movie discs.

But the games HAVE to work on the 2013 Xbox One so they have to be 50 GB BDs, same as PS4.

If you buy the Series X version of COD @69.99 you automatically get the XB1 version, correct?

But if you buy the XB1 version there is no upgrade path. Asking because Im sitting here with my xbox friend.

Since you remember all my posts, you'll quickly find them and be able to quote it as a response to this message.
  • Please show me where I was hyping Halo Infinite AFTER MS postponed it (understanding it was "utter shit").
  • Said that XSX isn't powerful or more powerful than the PS5 (that was your previous remark that my focus suddenly is on GP)
  • Or show that I never really cared about GP or praised it in the last 6 months.
Spoiler, you won't find any. Because I know very well what I write, and my position on topics. So you better start quoting so you don't look silly.

ps. And don't kid yourself that you play games, and don't care about systems. That's as realistic as if TimDog would say that.
You were hyping before the show and soon after that

I don't have time to quote you. I think many of us here remember what

It's already happening on the Sony side though. There's really no need for the policy because publishers will find a way around it which is worse for consumers in the end.

If you buy the PS4 version it costs 10$ to upgrade to the PS5 version. But if you buy the Xbox One version you have to buy the XSX version of the game again if you want the upgrade. Instead of costing just 10$ it's going to cost consumers 70$. Just looking at the physical version by the way.

Ah yes for games it is BD standard, I was just saying Series X like One X support BDXL since it has Ultra HD Blu Ray player, but that is only for films true.

I guess the pre registration thing for PlayStation is only for the US ?

It's weird that you can't order consoles/accessories directly from the PlayStation website here, only from 3rd party retailers, at least in the NL you can't dunno about the rest of the EU

From Destroy All Humans dev :

“You’ll see a revolution in next-gen games where loading time either is minimal or outright removed. Even the lower IO performance on the Xbox Series X is already a fantastic upgrade.”

“The PS5 will be the benchmark platform for CPU optimization where the goal would be to get the same end-result performance on both platforms"

Interesting... Devs look really focused on the PS5. And this dev says the goal is the same end result on both platforms.

There's no way MS can be this dumb, is there?

I would hope not for something so simple but looking at the spec sheet Richard Leadbetter had it does list the drive across the XSX, One X and One S as all using a 4K UHD BD. If it was a 100GB compatible for games I'm sure it would say going by other changes/differences listed between systems shown in the specs.

There's no way they'd open up pre-orders within the next couple of days is there? Has to be at least a week or so out...right?

My former GameStop coworkers who are still with the company have heard nothing.

No worries. Yea if I were in Xbox shoes I would have done whatever possible to secure those to bolster their lineup until their first party output was ready. And I'm sure they tried, I just think Sony was able to throw more money at them for whatever reason.

No you've got it all wrong. It's not about having more money. Its about install base & ROI.

It's more likely. Xbox have to pay double ,triple more money than PS to get timed/exclusive deals. Because of their smaller user base. It would cost a lot to get publishers to ignore sales from 112 million user base. That consistently pay for games based on NPD & sales charts. MXT stats etc.

In the end install base is all that matters. Selling to 40 million people vs 112 million is heavy lost for publishers. Xbox has to pay for the sales lost & then some. There's no ROI. It's not cost effective for xbox division & it's damaging for publishers.

User base & sales charts matter. Blank cheque fantasy is over.

And honestly why would someone buy a PS5 game to (try) play it on PS4 to begin with.

Just basic Ignorance, like when I was a wee lad and bought a 32x game for my Genesis not knowing there was a difference. Granted I was 12 at the time but there's plenty of uninformed parents who think xbox is xbox and playstation is playstation, numbers and versions be damned.

Yep, as long MS keeps embracing current gen they cannot make a BDXL only release. I suppose we'll see two disks in their boxes: either one BDXL and one BD or two BDs.
For cross gen games Xbox Series X games will just be regular Blu-rays, same as Xbox One.

For next gen only games, idk. They are focused on Game Pass (all digital) and they might not want to invest in a new disc format if they think 50 GB BDs +download the rest will work. But that would make every game install require online connection. Maybe XSX will use BDXLs, but Xbox 360 only used DVDs, so idk.

I doubt Xbox games would ship with 2 different discs in box, too expensive.

Ok....WHAT THE FUCK is going on with PS5 pre-orders? I got an email that seems to indicate that a select number of people will be chosen to pre-order the console, controllers, etc. If you don't get an invitation, you can't pre-order? What...is Sony going to cut out retail vendors at least for the pre-orders prior to the holidays or something? This seems REALLY weird. Seems to indicate that you won't be able to pre-order via Amazon, GameStop or places like that but only via Sony itself? Am I just missing something big time or has anyone else seen that? I've attached the FAQ that is linked from the page where you can indicate your interest in pre-ordering.

This. Seems. Weird.

Just looked it up on Twitter, thats confusing haha.
The way it's been worded has been so confusing, so I completely understand. Haha. Here's how I understand it.

$59.99 - Standard Edition (PS4/Xbox One/PC) *PS4 can upgrade to PS5 version through PSN Store. Xbox One version cannot upgrade to Series X version*
$69.99 - Cross-Gen Version - (PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X)
$89.99 - Ultimate Edition - (Same as Cross-Gen version, but with bonuses and extras)

Yeah so by that dev/article's logic, PS5 is going to set the optimization goal for CPU in games because it's less powerful, so that must mean the Series X is going to set the SSD optimizations because the IO is slower.
