100 euro for disc player would be a lot

What about $200 like:

If the PS5 DE comes in at £100 less than the XSX in the UK, then that will create an interesting problem for me.

I'm from Scotland and am therefore incredibly tight! 😂

I can see Sony wanting to be in between the XSS and XSX for both PS5 & PS5DE
The PS5DE needs to be more then the XSS but not too much.

And the PS5 needs to be cheaper then XSX

I'm concerned. The government is telling hou afstand 1.5 meter but how are people going to fight through Mediamarkt to get their PS5?

One question: How are people saying that Sony is being forced to change prices if nobody knows the prices in the first place. Also, if the adjusted prices are the exact same that have been rumored for so long, how are they adjusted?

Prices in US are usually cheaper in general. Probably $500 and $400 USD.
It's was a straight conversion for PS4 and is for XSS & XSX.
it's the UK prices that ain't consistent and maybe more then anywhere else.
PS4 wasn't too bad though

The majority of people that have 4K displays haven't bought a single UHD Bluray.
More for them then, 4k streaming doesn't hold a candle to 4k Blu-ray, it's no wonder people say they can't see the difference 😂

399 for the digital next gen router mutant is an amazing price.

The tech inside for that money is a bargain.... I'm still leaning towards 449/499 though

It's irritating to me that people still don't know the difference between Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray drives. A decent 4K Blu-Ray player, even internal for PC is $150 - $200.
Yes. The whole u it. But just slapping the disc reading mechanism in ps5 is probably like 7usd. It has all the UI and media capabilities regardless

$399 or $499 EUR/USD
So as a Canadian...I can probably expect $499/$599 ... I can deal with that. Better than what I expected tbh.

I've been away from the scene lately. Is the the PS5 digital edition have the same specs as the full version?

I could see 399 and 499.

The big price gap is to motivate people to buy the more expensive console, more restricted console and yes I do mean the PS5 Digital Edition by that.

People on this forum say Sony fans are rabid and aggressive.

All I've seen in this thread is non-sony fans being fucking retarded.

It's not a disc drive, it's a 4k uhd blu Ray player that updates constantly to keep it on the cutting edge of tech.

And yes, Sony will take a hit on the digital edition as they make more money in the long run.

Drop these talking points and move on to something more interesting

Of course it doesn't look as good but people don't care about unless they're really into Home Cinema. Same way they don't care about a 11.2 Atmos system, they'll get a soundbar and call it a day.

MediaMarkt NL just updated their PS5 page with a "rumored price" of €399/499

Checking the page last update date goes against the update date they have set up. Last update was:

Apparently pre-orders started there in NL. If this get's confirmed, it's pretty much as expected.

Digital is good. Its the same power just without disc. Not liek 50 % less power like Xbox Series S.
Normal Disc Price would be Standard.

If these prices are true:

For 499 you get
  • The faster console of the two top priced consoles with 15% less teraflops and double the IO speed
For 399 you get
  • The same console without a disc drive
For 299 you get
  • A console thats 3x less less powerful than the most powerful with the same slower IO.
For those looking for cost benefit, the Digital PS5 would be the logical choice.
Unlike with PC games, its still possible to sell or trade in consoles games. So what is exactly "logical" about buying the De?? 3 to 4 games sold covers that price difference easily.

Standard $499
Digital $399
That's MAX prices. It could even be cheaper.
And pls stop making claims that the "PS5's SSD" is expensive, it's not like it's a super SSD in a package bolted on the PS5 like PC hardware.
What's making the SSD so special is it's "DNA" is all over the console. The "SSD" part is just normal nands with more channels than normal, giving higher bandwidth.
The "secret sauce" as they say, is embedded in the APU, giving lower latency. The "storage solution", as I like to call it, can't be that expensive. The parts are trivial. The only excess cost would be R&D, wich I believe Sony will eat happily.
And gut feeling telling me that the XSX has a bigger die size than the PS5 APU, and that's where the cost is. (bigger die on same process = lower yield = higher prices)
At least much more than the cost of the Dual Sense. (as some use as an excuse for high price)
