That's actually a great price imo. You almost have a whole system, that's very capable, for little money. The only question is - how good of a condition are they in?

Imagine being a kid and being told by your parents that they're taking you to Red Lobster on Saturday, only to be told on that day that they're not taking you until Wednesday. Now you have to spend four days salivating at the thought of scrumptious, deliciously seasoned, mouth watering lobster making contact with your taste buds. That's the equivelant of what Nvidia has done to us by extending the embargo on independently determined benchmark results. Darn Nvidia! Darn them to Hades!

That sounds ridiculous, because they're not obligated to have their benchmark results ready by the embargo's end. They could have still released them days after the original date of the embargo's end.

They're are some reviewers who have already conducted their benchmarks and are ready to publish their results. What about them?

I guess one could say that it's not fair for some people to be able to publish their results first because they received their cards first...but, damn, I guess extending the embargo was the ethical thing to do.

So the coolers are far inferior because they're traditional designs? When the founders was first shown, the sentiment was yes, it might keep the GPU cooler but at the expense of the cpu and memory temps. How is that FAR superior, objectively. He doesn't know shit.

You think asus would put 3 8 pin connectors capable of pushing 400 watts to their 3080 design on the Strix if they couldn't keep it cool? The Rog Strix GPUs are known to run cool and relatively quiet. I just don't buy it.

Yes, and it's also a matter of customs for some, for example TechCityYes still had his held by AU customs so he wouldn't have been able to finish the review in time. I imagine there's more situations like that & Nvidia recognised they could just push embargo up a few days to give them a chance.

Crysis on my "new" 9800GTX+ (guy that bought 1070 from me got me this once he heard I would have no GPU till tuesday :messenger_grinning_squinting:)

In native (2560x1080) it's not so great (high settings)

Jensen said that the FE cards light up, but I haven't seen any images or footage of light being produced by one. What part(s) of them light up and in what color(s)?

The whole point of a media embargo is so that everyone can publish their results at the same time, so that no individual outlet has an unfair advantage and gets all of the views because they posted first.

I'm kinda tempted to upgrade my PSU to 1kw for extra headroom but I guess since nvidia says 750w is fine for the 3090 then I'll just keep what I've got and see how it goes since I don't plan to overclock it. Plus it's tough to get your hands on the better psu units these days anyway due to covid.

edit: I found the psu I wanted in stock and got 10% off + free shipping so I went for it :)

I'm torn on whether I should upgrade my Asus 2080ti strix to a 3080 TUF (don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a strix or equivalent again) .

My current card has a lot of legs left of course and I love how quiet and cool it runs. But I do quite a bit of gaming on TV which I'm planning on upgrading and I really want HDMI 2.1 for high frame rate gaming at 4k on TV.

Wait for the refreshes imo. 2080 Ti to 3080 jump looks anaemic atm, especially if you start OCing (which you should). Get yourself an active adaptor in the meantime, you can do 4K 120hz like that. ;)

Are you targeting 4K? Might be fine then for 60 fps, but probably not. 4c4t is a big bottleneck no matter how you slice it. XSX might not be a bad idea if you're not tied to the PC, because chances are you could sell it off 2 years later for 70-80% of what you paid for it anyway and then upgrade to PC hardware with much better price/performance than what's available this year. DDR5 is coming in 2022 also. :)

Thanks for the reply👍, that's probably the sensible thing to do really. Even though I read the adaptors can't handle gsync TV functionality.. I'll try to refrain from upgrading. And I've recently started OCing my card more with good results. 🙂

Dang, the dude had just sold it :/ Well, I'll be looking some more, and decide next week when the reviews and benchmarks come out. The PS5 price reveal will happen a day before the 30xx cards come out, let's see those too before I grab my wallet.

The bold is the best upgrade path and will give you a good platform for the foreseeable future.

Just wait for the new AMD CPU's that will arrive in the next month or so.

The TUF series will be the low end and they will sell for USD $699.

Found this on Youtube comparing the 2080 ti to the 3080 'in a couple of games, not sure at all how legit this is though.. Claims to be from some "accidentally leaked" Chinese review.

It's still a nice improvement no doubt, but if the numbers are correct I'm holding onto my card for a while.. until refresh at least. The 3080 looks like an amazing deal in comparison to the 2000-series no doubt about that and it is quite a bit better than the 2080 ti. But I don't feel as big of a panic to upgrade if this is true.

Still, driver updates could widen the gap further I suppose.

It's listed at 8000 NOK for the non-OC version of the TUF at komplett.no, which is also the price nvidia list in NOK for the 3080 FE card.

3060ti rumored to be at 80% of a 2070, depending on its price this could be the best entry level card. Comes out in October

If the leaked results are correct then the 3080 is a great upgrade over the 2080 but not worth my time selling my gtx 1080ti, buying a 3080. Taking out my 2080ti and putting it in my driving/flying simulator and putting the 3080 in my main pc.
