When I see someone excited for COD...

Not trying to discredit the new cod, but certain people would also be excited for that dolphin game just because the dev spoke negatively of the ps5.

So you'd rather pay for a service of meh games then actual AAA games right? Yall fan boys will defend a service to cover up the fact that first party is shit.
Yeah all games are meh...

I know its early days but i am really looking forward to seeing what these development tools mean on ps5 and why or how they are so much easier to work with than Xbox.

I imagine that most of this turns into some sort of benefit in terms of time saved, but what are we talking here, can someone quantify an example for me,

I have no idea what all this means in the grand scheme of things, are we talking about tasks taking a few seconds longer, does it affect quality, are there fewer loopholes to go through.

Really in the blind on this one, but i feel it is something that is hardly ever talked about.

Maybe someone can chime in, this is so far beyond my scope but i think its interesting.

Hope my half-arsed question attemp makes some sense to somebody.

And with that the Sunday Roast chicken is ready, bb later, its munch time.

Then educate yourself, this information is easily available.

Try the Road to PS5 presentation or one of the many official presentations from AMD.

You may be surprised by what you find. Smartshift is a mechanism to IMPROVE performance.
Actually no. The target of smartshift is to get the best performance of a specific power target. It is a Technologie for mobil APUs to redirect power where needed.
That also means both pieces of hardware could reach those targets fixed if enough power is available. But than the cooling solution must be big enough. So Sony targets a fixed power target that the cooling solution can handle and a tries to get the max performance from that power target.

This was already debunked by RGT👇, also "smartshift profile" LOL at least try make it look believable :messenger_tears_of_joy:

RGT on PS5's variable clocks

"Long story short, from Sony's internal testing, the CPU and GPU will remain pretty much maxed out, Cerny said at the worst case scenario we're looking at a 3% reduction and I am hearing the same in real world performance IF the CPU is very heavily taxed and even then it's maybe 1-3 frames that happens....but from multiple people I am hearing from now including sources who have given me really good AMD information....I can say with very good authority the PS5 CPU/GPU will not reduce to anywhere near this clock frequency (referring to the BS leak)"
Haha I'm saving this!

All this talk about the PS5 downclocking under the worst case scenario completely ignores how the Series X would do the same damn thing. The PS5 is built to handle its 3.5 and 2.23 clocks in the same way Series X is built to handle its own. If there ever exist some code that forces sustained max load they would both eventually downclock to avoid overheating.

I saw RGT’s video before seeing his BS post. Smartshift has little to do with profiles, so for him (SamWeb) to associate those two together gave away his obvious bias.

Now if he associated profiles with backwards compatibility, then he would be getting somewhere. However, that wouldn’t satiate his biases.

No, the difference is larger.
The 825GB of the PS5 are "marketing" GB, which translates to 768 "real" GB.
The TerraByte are 1024 "real" GB, so the difference are 256 "real" GB between both

"real": 1KByte = 1024 Bytes
"marketing": 1KByte = 1000 Bytes. Marketing loves to use it for advertising the size of Harddiscs because it sounds more impressive. Some apps use it to make it easier for the users who do not know about the 1024 thing

The usage of the "marketing" GB was confirmed by Mark cerny around the time of his march talk, when he said something like that 825GB is the logical size because they are using 12 channels and 12 chips, and 12x64 = 825.
The 2 consoles will have almost the same amount of usable space. XSX will only have around 50 GB more space for games. 750 vs 700.

I think I got this from this thread but was wondering if anyone had a link to it on Era?

PS5 Dev API is almost the exact same as PS4 Dev API with new tool sets for new features for PS5. So it has made Dev time easier for devs. Xbox has new GDK API, Xbox used to use XDK. So devs having to learn GDK. Then the issues with PC’s running GDK API and emulating Xbox Series X features made in the console hardware has been a challenge at launch. But GDK API has gotten better. Things are improving on Dev Front. Xbox series X will be fine and games are going to be fine. Just a bumpy start and learning curve.

Well, you can grab a PS5 DE, subscribe to Plus which you'd have to anyway for online and get all those PS Plus Collections games, no upfront cost.
True, not the same as Game Pass of course since that has a a lot of future day one value of new first party titles.

So sorry m8. I was one of those people. I got so busy delving into side quest after side quest then my ADD kicked in and I went back to playing FO4 doing side quest after side quest (and installing every mod I can get my system to handle), but again my ADD kicked in and I went back to Skyrim, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Control HZD, and a bunch of other games and well I think I may have finished like two of those. I still haven't finished GoT. It's a problem. I am not seeking help.
Sounds like me lol. I have till this day never finished an elder scrolls game, but damn if I don't have a great time playing

Not to mention that AMD's Smartshift isn't responsible for the downclocking, that's PS5's 'custom' variable frequency feature. People keep spreading misinformation unintentionally. Smartshift is there to divert any unsued power from the CPU to GPU, it's not the main technique, it's complementary.

I believe the PS5 is the first ever console that requires a stand regardless of its position, you need it to be standing and laying horizontal 🤔
You can't remove the Series X's stand and that's releasing first, so technically...

No fucking way :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Some spread misinformation intentionally here (we have two great winners) and there for FUD.
