"There is one small little thing, I'm kinda hesitant to bring it up because I know people are going to get mad at me, but I'm going to mention it anyway, I have a sneaking suspicion that a variant of the Infinity Cache is in the PS5, now the reason I say that is because when I was asking my sources, a couple of them accurate, the same sources told me that the PS5 was running incredibly quiet, very cool and they gave me all the breakdown of the PS5 testing procedures from Sony thats turned out to be accurate, they told me that the cooling solution was very different, very unique and they gave me other insights and lo and behold we started to see patents for that.....but one hint they gave me was that cache coherency on the PS5 is incredibly important and this is one of the reasons we see cache scrubbers...when I asked my source why does it look there is some sort of stacked memory on the PS5, are we looking at 3D stacked memory? they told me and I quote "think PS Vita". So I don't know if that is the case that there some type of chunk of cache or if it some type of Infinity Cache, I am still pretty dam confident in my information that PS5 has custom RDNA 2 features, or more specifically it's built on RDNA 2 with custom features which are NOT seen on RDNA 2 silicon...we'll just have to wait and see."

Looks very pretty, but the gameplay looks very one note to me. I’ll wait for some reviews I think.

F2P sold as retail. Sadly ...

Thanks for clearing up the temperature thing. :messenger_ok: That was my bad then.

I stand by the rest that I said :D

There is no way the CPU or GPU run at 30°.

Sorry, but the rest of your post is gibberish.

Seems you did not read any article at all about Sony´s event, the headlines were concise enough. You would have known that, right after the first paragraph. They even mentioned how warm the PS5 got (according to them).

Nobody mentioned once horizon 4K the past 48h or right after the Japanese event. So, no idea what´s with the tangent and or what "spreading nonsense about your competitor" has anything got to do with your initial inquiry (which was based on a wrong assumption).

You no fooling us!

Saving the RAM data on the HDD for it to be loaded later? Current gen could do that. Would it be worth it having a dump of 8GB write on a 5000rpm hdd? No. It would be slow as fuck to turn the system off. Hence the reason they didn't do it and just kept the RAM powered.

With SSDs, the barrier of slow I/O is gone. Nothing groundbreaking about it.
Loading is so fast it wouldn't even be necessary to save all those GBs from RAM, just save state and what assets to fetch from disk.

Yeah, heat pipes. The better the engineering and the more heat pipes used will emit less heat.

Heat pipes transfer heat from where it's not needed to where it can be diluted away by a fan. Not sure if I misunderstood you but they won't reduce the overall heat being emitted. Heat is energy, you must have heard energy can't be destroyed or created, just transformed

wtf?

If Division 2 requires an online fee for a paid game, why not Godfall? Sure, from look&feel it´s an F2P game to me, a generic hack&slash F2P with barely any depth that would have been free on PS5, unlike on some other platform. :wink:wink:

yea, didn’t mean to say it emits less heat but that it transfers the heat away to somewhere else. It doesn’t necessarily need a fan (passive cooling) but a fan does help.

Not a huge surprise. There was a reason they didn't show ANYTHING of the game. I'm telling you, MS was getting out of the gaming business and then reversed course, probably on the promise of subscription model gaming. Only thing that makes SENSE as far as them having NO GAMES ready for launch of a new console and being several YEARS away from doing so. I mean, it's either that or a company like Microsoft was just that incompetent? I don't buy that. MS is many things, but incompetent is not one of them.

Wired will now become relevant to green side.

Yup. That guy. These dudes can't wait to jump on any sensationalist fud to blow out of proportion. GUYS! YOUR BOY HERE. PS5 IS DEAD.⚰💀☠⚱
People like him make the Xbox fans look bad. And the sad thing is they have a pretty big following and some Xbox heads interact with them so their followers think "wow, they must be very important if Greenberg comments on their videos" and the stuff they say gets a lot of attention, even if it's complete nonsense.

May explain the abundance of raytracing launch titles on PS5 vs not much going on on XsX. Just a lot more accessible under such an architecture perhaps.

I don't know of any 'Xbox fans' here that bring these guys up. It appears that they are far more popular with the Playstation guys. If you guys didn't mention them no one would talk about them. Why bring them up at all if you don't care for the Xbox platform?

Wasn't really a shot at Xbox fanboys (maybe a little bit), but more a shot at these fly-by-night YouTube "tech" channels that focus only on next-gen consoles and spread as much fud as possible based on which platform they hold dear.

Why purchase the Series S? Isn’t an X sufficient even without a 4k tv?

to be completely open here, the series s was purchased as an early Xmas gift for my nephew. I will share my gamepass subscription With that console so his parents don’t need to worry about buying any games for him. He is 8 year old boy that cares only about fortnite, mine craft and forza horizon. I myself will use xb sex in my living/gaming room, my xbone x and PS4 pro will be connected in my bedroom

Although I'm skeptical of their claims, we also have to remember that bandwidth also plays a huge role as TF is just one part of the GPU. The PS5's GPU, 5700, and XT all have 448 GB/s, but on PS5 that 448 GB/s is shared between the CPU + GPU, and IIRC it's even shared with the Tempest Engine (AMD CUs stripped of its caches). Whereas those RDNA 1 dGPUs have their 448 GB/s fully reserved for themselves. We'll see how it all pans out, with RDNA 2's architectural improvements and other hardware customizations combined with Sony's very efficient low-level API, I do think PS5 will punch above its weight even compared to equivalent RDNA 2 PC dGPU over the coming years.
Agreed. There's a point that needs emphasizing about bandwidths, it can't be used as a factor for performance as much as total peak TerraFLOPS can either. What these higher bandwidth GPU's lack that PS5 has is effeciency that's handled by the geometry engine and cache scrubbers (and maybe other advancements we're not aware of yet). Geometry engine will make sure the bandwidth that's being utilised is on TerraFLOPS that are relevant on geometry that can be seen, not on wasted hidden geometry that gets culled away. Cache scrubbers will reduce the load on the bandwidth too by mitigating total cache reloads. So it's expected the PS5 will have lower bandwidth needs to render same graphics as other GPU's that don't have these technology advancements implemented
