Not even regular DirectInput mode when plugged into PC? That's disheartening. I planned on picking one up for that.
DS4Windows needs the device to be in a working state to convert it from Dinput to Xinput where it can emulate an Xbox 360 controller. That's really all it does. Otherwise if you connect a DS4 to a PC and don't use any 3rd party software, it is still a perfectly functional controller and in many modern games, they'll even recognize it natively as a DS4 and give you the correct button prompts. Some games even use the lightbar for things like health, wanted level etc.Give it a couple of weeks and they'll add it as a new profile on DS4Windows.

i saw Austin Evans testing it on a android phone (worked) and a ps4 (just connects and not detects the buttons) IRC.
So, just like a Dualshock 4?
Wasn't ds4 support added to pc after the ps4 release?I was hoping for native support on PC. Sony's dumb, they could make good money out of it. Bummer.
I've heard the buttons on the DualSense are way quiet in comparison to the DS4 but need confirmation. That would be a huge improvement for me.
Do the analog sticks feels more resistant and steady? I always thought the analog sticks in DS4 were shit and it seems to easily fuck up the dead zone.
Rev reviews the sticks feel.
He had an issue with the elite controller's dead zone problem. The current sticks he's using on his elite 2, is a must for the best tension, as the standard ones feel too loose for him as he's mention in the video. The biggest problem he has with the dualsense seems to be the distance between the L1, R1 TO THE L2 R2 TRIGGERS, preferring the DS4s instead .I think I'm just as confused tbh!
I don't know... it seems he felt the sticks were about the same quality (maybe even a bit worse) than DS4 sticks? But I'm not sure, it seems he doesn't like Xbox analog sticks, and I much prefer them.
I would say that is a matter of preference. I have much better control with the higher tension on DS4 compared to the looser xbox one.less tension on a stick is better for precise aiming. you want as little resistance as possible so that you can easily perform fine movements without any hindrance.
the stick has to feel solid as well tho, it has to snap back firmly.
that is the perfect stick. I don't get people that want more resistance in the sticks like you can set the elite 2 controller to... I guess that's better for people that aren't that good at actually knowing where their thumb is positioned at any given time? I dunno.
so he says the sticks feel a bit looser! which is great! that means they are closer to the Xbox One sticks, the DS4 sticks were already only slightly stiffer. they might have listened to some CoD pro player feedback as they play all their official games on PS4 due to the pr deal. and I would bet they would mostly want looser sticks

I have my DS5 now and too me the tension feels very similar to DS4.
Controller cuckoldry, well I never...it is partly preference tho. but less resistance logically leads to better fine movement capabilities.
I get tho that some would want to have more tactile feedback.
I want my sticks to be as tension free as mechanically possible.
if the DualSense is slightly looser I am all for it.
funfact: back in the Xbox 360 esports era, many pro players gave their new 360 controllers to friends to play with so that they would use them and loosen the sticks overtime. and then only use those loosened up controllers.
not everyone did that of course but many did.

So ideally you'd want the sticks to just be flopping around. Like a flaccid penis as opposed to an erect penis.
Works on PC, PS3 (yes 3) and PS4 via remote play.

Holy shit if the home button works on ps3 and the rumble......shit il buy 3!PS3????? does the home button work? rumble? sixaxis? does it work wireless like the DS4?
Can anyone comment on what feels more "premium", compared to the DS4?
The video above has the guy saying DualSense feels cheaper, but BenjiiSales is saying the opposite on Twitter...

Sorry. Dpad. Feels like an actual cross. Not broken up into quadrants if that makes sense. Even though there is a space on the shell. It feels like an entire piece underneath. Like you can pull of quarter circles easier than DS4
every aspect. The plastic overall is denser. The buttons have no play to them before pressed(no rattling when passed over with thumb). The analog sticks are tight and grippy and A little taller than DS4 and just a touch under xb1. There’s no creaking either. The back has a grip to it too. For my hands it’s a perfect fit. This is JUST feel to me. I haven’t used on my PS3 yet or PS5 of course. I’ll try soon.
edit:

DS4 isn't 100% compatible. It requires DS4Windows or Steam Overlay to work and has trouble with most DRMs and emulators, even with DS4Windows enabled.Wasn't ds4 support added to pc after the ps4 release?
Considering the ps5 is not even out, support for it on pc will probably come later.
yeah, update on that. it is recognised as a standard USB controller. so no home button and no other features work aside from the standard button inputs
I also suspect that it will have similar compatibility issues as the DS4, so games like Yakuza 5 will not work with it. (that's the only one I remember from the top of my head)
but... that's the case on every PS controller. they are all connected crosses, the design was originally only the way it is because of Nintendo's patent on the cross shape dpad.
I know. That’s why I said it feels like iteven though it’s quadrants. Each of the 4 are further raised and you can quarter circle without touching the base of the controller. You can’t do that on DS4
