Maybe I'll just put you on ignore instead.

I have no one on ignore. I am afraid of no ones opinions.

This is definitely a win for the xbox series x.

It has higher fps with next generation ray tracing turned on plus supports vrr so even in the 120fps mode the dips aren't seen.

You'd have to be a playstation fanatic to not agree.

I actually think though once ps5 gets vrr and a patch for ray tracing mode it may be the better version.

But if xbox can figure out their supposed gdk api stuff then it will end up being too close for a war battle!

I am replaying all cod games campaigns (starting with cod4) and now I am no Ghost. It's surprisingly good. Looks great at 4k with 4xTXAA too.
MW and MW2 were awesome but aged a lot.
MW3 was kinda bad and worse looking.
World at War was only good in Russian missions
Black Ops is awesome,
Black Ops 2 is a mess of bad story and weird gameplay aside from few cool Missions with Harper.
That's it so far. I remember Infinite Warfare being my fav and bo3 being trash. But I also remember Ghost being trash and now I kinda like it...

I enjoyed the Ghosts campaign a lot, actually. Shame the cliffhanger ending will never be followed up on.

Isn't it supposed to be more powerful the series X? In what way is a win to have selective scene with better FPS? We need to be an Xbox fanatic to not admit it

Both good, xs outperforms ps5 in rt mode especially with the lack of vrr, It'll look pretty bad dropping 20 fps and this was not in one scene, but 2, maybe more. In the other hand in 120hz mode ps5 in helicopter scene runs BETTER, but as John said, all this are not noticeable while playing in xs because of vrr. That's how important is.
There is no monitor in the market that supports 120 hz and doesn't have vrr.
PS community must demand this feature.

I feel bad for John a bit. I don't think he's "biased" at all and he does great work, but whoever was working with him that time ...

Let's just say when they were talking about the Xbox doing better in the 60fps RT mode (which it clearly did), they pretty much just stated it. When the PS5 was winning in the 120 fps mode, the guy is making comments like "There is no clear reason why this would be the case", and pretty much downplaying the differences in that mode.

He didn't do the same for the 60fpsRT comparison. And that's where claims of bias keep on creeping in. It's such a weird way to approach things. Just say what the numbers are. Don't hem and haw for "reasons" when one side, and only one particular side, is losing.

Then you had John who was obviously trying to be fair and talk about how great they both were, almost trying to downplay his co-workers comments to be more even handed.

Maybe I was misreading it, but I just don't give a :lollipop_poop: about the performance differences between platforms (in terms of wanting one to be better) and to me the difference in commentary from the other guy felt like it was slapping me in the face.

John is by far the best thing going at DF IMO. I hope he doesn't let the negativity burn him out.

I wonder if in time the developers - after various titles - will find the balance between features and performance on XSS. Considering that on Watch Dogs it seems to have RT while has a lower resolution or something, while here it runs on 1440 but doesn't have RT.
Guess eventually there will be a middle ground.

Generation is interesting.

Downgraded gun smoke on XSX timestamped. Watch in slo mo.

Much more side by side examples on VG Tech vids.

Vgtech analysis:

There was an issue on PS5 where the frame rate could randomly drop below 60fps during scenes that it previously ran at a solid 60fps. This issue wasn't encountered on Xbox Series X.

Digital Foundry:

Series X is more stable in RT because it's more powerful and lead to a better experience

But impartial and genuine.

This one is too close. We wait for the next comparison.

How so? Xbox clearly does better at 60fps with RT. 40 vs 60 fps is not close at all (during a few drops of course, not sustained).

The PS5 was better at 120 FPS, but not many people are going to have a 120FPS capable tv. I mean I have one and I even I don't think it's important because when we start hitting truly next-gen games, I think 120 is out the window.

This one is clearly a win for Xbox.

Folks seem to talk about there TV's for VRR... Am I the only one that has for a long time, used a monitor for console gaming?
I seem to enjoy it more than what a TV ever did.

So PS5 random drops started after a patch?

Both consoles are good. Xbox holds a constant 60fps with ray-tracing enabled while PS5 drops to 40, and on 120 fps mode PS5 holds closer to 120 while Xbox is closer to 100-110. In either case the drops in both consoles only happens in select scenes and most of the time they reach their target framerate, and that's with visual and resolution parity. It's basically a tie and that's good.

If you look at it from a consumer perspective then sure. But if you look at purely from a technical standpoint, you would say PS5 seems to be more performant in CPU bound scenarios here and Series X in GPU bound scenarios. It's rather even.

They wont admit that which is why he's backing out of the thread. If the PS5 is ahead even by the smallest of margins, "Xbox is terible" and memes galore.

I'm with you there, just got a 144hz monitor for the SX and it's so smooth and snappy compared to a TV, they don't know what they're missing.

Another game where the TFs narrative is dead.

- 60fps mode pretty solid with dips in some set pieces on PS5.
- 120fps mode with campaign with dips in both in the same places with Xbox going lower.
- 120fps MP is flawless.
- From the games DF tested that one is the most closest between PS5 and Xbox... performance is the best one too.
- Huge praise on Dual Sense features.

These results made me question something... are people playing in 120fps being matched with 60fps?

MP should be equal to everything... so 60fps.
