Microsoft Responds to Optimized Launch Game Performance Issues

Now Xbox fans are playing the waiting and praying hoping games their system will outperforms the PS5 which was supposed to be the weaker system. lol the irony!

Friends: So what games you have on your XSX?
XSX owner: I have "Alan Waiting" "Tools of War" "Halo Infinite Promises".
On the plus side at least you can file the game away in a folder and move it to your external drive for when they patch it.

This is the exact opposite of what Sony did when devs were struggling with the PS3. Instead of sending out teams to help them, they shifted the blame to the devs themselves. 1UpYours had a great discussion around this at the time.

Good news, it was always going to be software issues and not the ridiculous hardware conspiracies some people are pushing.
I don’t see anyone pushing hardware “conspiracies.”

The only thing I see is people trying to show Xbox fans that all that marketing about 12 teraflops and “most powerful console ever” was exactly that. Marketing.

The reality of the situation is that the hardware in each console is different. And as many people, myself included, have been saying for MONTHS is that you can’t boil a console’s potential ability down to one magical number called teraflops.

And now you’re seeing the result. PS5 performs equally or better than the Xbox. And Xbox has to walk back their marketing and do damage control PR because their obvious BS has been called out, shown up, and thoroughly debunked by actual real world games.

That is not a hardware conspiracy. Those are the facts, and blind fanboys need to accept it or they’re going to have a rough ride this generation.

Well new forum warrior, I'm playing Yakuza, Gears Tactics, a now 60fps Sekiro and NBA2K21. What are you playing?

Both companies are using Cpus and Gpus from Amd, so in this case, yes, within the same architecture, more teraflop, more power.

Nope. MS deviated from AMD's architecture of 8/10 CUs per shader array. GPUs that are composed of 80/72 CUs from AMD would have 8 shader arrays. Because the optimal number they deem for each shader array is 8/10 CUs.

What MS did is tacked on 2 Dual CUs at the end of the shader arrays because they cannot afford to put another shader engine (2 shader arrays) which would dramatically increase the size of the die.

So no, it's not the same architecture that AMD itself is using in their RDNA1/2 GPUs. MS introduced 6 Dual CUs at the end of the shader array because they need those CU compute for their cloud computing. But for a GPU designed to render games, those CUs are bottlenecked.

Without exclusives, worse control and also worse in multiplatform. Xbox is throwing money away.

Really none of what you typed is true though is it? It has exclusives, controls are great, and the system is doing great in multiplatform titles. I can see and appreciate different preferences but objectively you're wrong. Both systems are good. Why is that hard to accept?

... I'm unaware of these results..?
You should know by now to not trust every word that comes out of Microsofts mouth. That is exactly how they got into this mess.
Xbox fans will be just arrogant in two or three years when the performance delta will be more or less exactly what it is now (I'd be surprised if it's very different, one way or another).

You know how long it took for them to accept the xbone was visibly slower than the PS4? With NO redeeming factor.

Being equal, even if they were promised their console would be "better" will be something to behold.

I am just glad we have all realised 120 mode is the most important mode for all games. Who needs 60 frames at 4k with raytracing. We must focus on the future..

Its still Rdna 2, despite different number of Cus used for eached shader array...

Sony has put alot of effort and resources into their dev tools.
They are the best in the buisness.
I think there were a couple of reasons Sony stuck with the 36CU GPU, one being to make BC easier, and the other was to make the changeover from PS4 development to PS5 as easy and familiar as possible. Thats my thoughts, not claiming Sony said this.
Sony was also well ahead of MS with releasing dev kits to studios, and this would have given devs a quicker turn around for their PS5 development.
MS on the other hand totally changed their GPU, and added a number of extra API extensions, all while being behind Sony with releasing dev kits into the wild.

Its pretty reasonable to assume that this would have given developers a leg up with their PS5 games coding over the XSX. And again, it's pretty reasonable to assume this would result in PS5 versions of games being better optimised than XSX ones.

If you rewatch road to ps5, mark cerny pretty much showed a diagram that ps5 development is their fastest ramp up ever, just less than a month to get things running.

Even ps1 and ps4, their previous easiest to develop consoles needed 2months iirc the diagram.
