[DF] Hitman 3 PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S Comparison

What time is it?
Unless I'm missing something, one advantage over the previous generation is the install size. On PS5, my install size is 59.65GB and I seemingly have access to all Hitman 1-2 levels as well. IIRC, my Hitman 2 installation on PS4 was north of 100GB.

I'll keep saying cross gen titles aren't a true test of what these consoles are capable of. It is pretty interesting to see that the one area the PS5 dominates the XSX in, the SSD speeds, it doesn't actually translate to a significant load time advantage. It's possible we'll see that advantage in the 3rd party native PS5 and XSX|S games.

-Ultra textures on PS5/XSX and high on XSS.
-TAA on all versions.
-Shadow in high on XSX, medium on PS5 and low on XSS.
-60fps on PS5 & 50-60fps on XSX/S.
-No RT.
-Faster loading times on PS5.

I have direct quotes in the OP, what you wrote here isn't entirely accurate.

Load times are a split second difference only, and the XsX only drops frames in one part of one level, is otherwise locked 60

Why put a resolution advantage directly in the title (Xbox) and not a performance advantage as well (PS5)? Not trying to start a war, genuinely wanting to know

The thread title is just the title of the video/article, from DF/Eurogamer. Also, read above in regards to framerate. XsX has one instance of dips in one level while always maintaining shadow and resolution advantage

Because it's not a real performance advantage, if the Series X only drops frames in one area of game... which could be the result of glitch or some other hitch and is not indicative of performanc. DF points things out like this so devs can fix it.

One X is 1440p so I assume Pro is either 1440p or lower
They will talk about it.

"We'll be looking at Hitman 3 with a broader perspective, encompassing last-gen consoles, in content coming soon - and we'll also be focusing on the PC version too in a separate piece. One thing we can share right now is that last-gen and next-gen consoles have much in common, and it does require PC to really push this engine to its limits - in this sense Hitman 3 continues the mission in the same way as its predecessor. The push to 60fps does set the next-gen consoles apart, but PS4 Pro's curious 1080p60 mode is a fascinating outlier. We've not put a huge amount of time into it, but it works well in the Dubai stage, running almost flawlessly, and it's curious not to see it on Xbox One X too. Regardless, we've got much more to share on Hitman 3 and we'll be reporting back as soon as we can."

Seems like PS4 has two modes... one of them is 60fps.... this mode is not present in XB1 X.
I have the impression PS5 version is being limited by the PS4 Pro version.

You forgot the resolution part which was the key thing DF tweeted.

The lowdown on Hitman 3 on next-gen consoles - 2160p60 on Series X, 1800p60 on PS5, 1080p60

Where is your god (Cerny) now?

Seriously though, great performance by both consoles and again very close. Both companies did a great job and the game looks great.

That pretty much proves that if PS5 is running at that much higher FPS that it can easily handle higher settings
Not necessarily We'll have to wait to find if it is a bug or a bottleneck. I believe that the aiming with the scope (drops to 40-50fps) is a bug but walking through the fields and seeing consistent prolonged drops to low-mid 50s is a bottleneck and not just a bug.

I have no idea why this didn't end the whole thread.
because "it drops frames" in 1 second of one area and one small part of one level. that's it. It doesn't drop frames 99.9999% of the time you're playing it.
So 60fps locked on PS5. XBOX wavers below 60. PS5 wins again. They need to lower Xbox's resolution. Knowing DF, I expect that the framerate on Xbox goes below 50fps in more thorough tests, which I'm sure Vgtech will point out.
Just, no. You again talk like it wavers often, .01% of the time or less is not "wavers" in general. Game is fine on both systems, play it on whatever you own the first two on (if you do).

Very well optimized game. I'm getting 100+ FPS playing in 4k and all settings turned up to the max on PC with 3080.

BUT

Screen space reflections need to fucking die now. Where's my RT upgrade?

Nice try, Series X, but I already own the series on Playstation! Maybe if Phillip got all 3 on Gamepass, I could enjoy the superior resolution and shadows. That is why you don’t snooze for an entire gen.
