Outriders is Coming to Xbox Game Pass on Day One

This is a great get, but not a priority for me.

Interesting experiment as an alternative to a timed exclusive though. We've had this sort of thing before, but never as big a third-party title that I can think of. Don't know if we'll ever know the results, but it'll be great if we do.

Who was that forum user who looked for cheapest deal on any game to show that gp is not really a good value?
Gods&Monsters in this thread...... what's the point of GP when you can buy deals on Steam? And if you read the thread, even if someone already had GP, no point even playing the vanilla copy as part of a gamer's sub plan because it's better to pay more $$$ and buy a bargain bin copy.

Personally no interest in the game, but this should keep the game alive longer. Have they confirmed if it's cross-platform?

Had no interest but now i may give it a shot.

More "filler" games right? 😉

Well in all honestly it does look like a game suited to the platform/service in every way. It's a coop focused GAAS game that might not be good enough to stand on it's own feet so the opportunity to get exposure to extra players in this way was probably too good for them to pass up.

The good news is that there's still a chance the final game will be better.

It's not GAAS...

I wonder how this affects perception seeing as both PC and PS gamers will still have to actually pay for the games. Also wondering how long it will be on GP.

I was in-between wanting to buy this so glad they confirmed this before I did that! lol

I don't know the history between you all but come on, you don't need to start bullying each other over what you individually think provides value. Someone interested in Outriders will most likely purchase it and if they can get it via discounts on the PC (if that is what they prefer), why are you having trouble with that?

With game pass, we're not adding the game to our permanent library so you have to consider that when determining value. Some people might put more value towards doing that and if they can get it for less, do you think Game Pass is better for them or a discounted price? Regardless, based on the blog post, it doesn't seem like there is an expiry date on Outriders but it is tied to the duration of a subscription so some people may not like that and that should be perfectly OK.

Completely unrelated to the above, but I think Outriders will be go F2P at some point. Similar to how Destiny did. I think it all depends on the type of success it finds.

My guess is 3 months minimum. Haven't seen a game last lesser than that, then again we haven't had a "AAA" Third Party game release like this before.

Who knows at this time.

Cool, i will try for sure.
It’s the type of games that I will never buy day one but since it will be on gamepass.

What’s nice is that it guarantees the game will have some population for a little while. Good news although I’m not sure it’s my style of game.
This is very true, which would in turn not surprise me that other "MMO-Lite" new franchises take this same approach in the future.

Well pre-release the devs said it's not a GAAS game. How truthful that is? No idea.

That sounds very plausible. Maybe it could lead to MS doing "launch month" style of GP releases.

People who wanted to buy it day one will still have to, nothing has changed. Except perhaps their perception of Gamepass, which I guess is what Xbox was going for.
So how are they planning to earn money from this game? GaaS baby Gaas? PC and PS? Good luck thinking PS gamers will be suckers buying this game full price knowing what’s going on in the green neighborhood. Seems like it could be popular with PC folks.
Why would someone who can't get it free with Gamepass not buy it because its free with Gamepass? The price they were willing to pay hasn't changed.

How they make money will depend on how long its in Gamepass. Could be DLC or MTX, but you can bet MS has paid a healthy sum for this, on top of bonuses based on playtime or players.

As I said before, this is an interesting alternative to the timed exclusive, and it means PlayStation-only guys can still buy it if they wish.
