Guerrilla Games has confirmed in a new interview that Horizon Forbidden West will support a 60 FPS performance mode on PS5.

As revealed in Julien Chièze’s interview with Guerrilla, the game will support a 60 FPS mode and likely a Fidelity mode running at 30 FPS as well (although this is speculation on our part. Translated by ResetEra, this information comes as another interview with Game Informer revealed a whole bunch of information about the game, including details about combat and skills.

You can see the clip below:

Horizon Forbidden West running at 60 FPS joins other PlayStation Studios PS5 titles that also run at 60 FPS, such as Demon’s Souls, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure to name just a few.

Despite being on track for 2021, Sony has revealed that it isn’t certain that the game will release this year. Despite that, the game is highly anticipated as last week’s State of Play has become the most-watched one for a single game ever.

Other notes:

“The map is a little bit bigger, but in general, we've really looked at increasing the density, and adding more content, making sure there's a lot more to do for the player across the map, and then making that content also engaging by telling little micro-stories,” de Jonge said.

"The climbing tools for the first Horizon were a little bit limited and restricted," admits de Jonge, "so we really just wanted to open that up and give players the freedom to climb anywhere they like in these open worlds."

"So now you also don't have to go around the mountain. If there are no handholds, you can just go over it in a straight line, which is great. And then combining that of course with the glider that you can glide back down. You can go down even further into the water. We just add a lot of verticality in that sense to exploration," says de Jonge.

isn't it powerful enough to go full 4K and 60fps on a cross gen title?

oooh boy...
Dude there are cross gen titles like DMC5 that now have a 30fps mode.

Don't expect miracles when pushing ray tracing and/or 4K resolution its pretty expensive 🤭

Nice to have it confirmed, but given the news on cross gen most would be expecting this I guess. Be interesting to see if it's just DRS with frame rate prioritised or they add a bit more zing and panache to the visuals as well. Hopefully the latter, but lighting and frame rate come at a heavy cost. Either way I'm sure it will look and play great.

The only good thing to come from being cross generation.

If I didn't have a PS5 I'd wait to play this and other games on the new machine, instead of wasting my first play on a worse version.

Just as long as we're not FORCED to play at 60fps, I'll be okay with it.
please 60 fps 1080 upscaled to 4k with ray tracing : (
HFW didn't have ray-traced reflections, but it seems to have some sort of global illumination applied. Look at how the palm trees seem to have an under-glow to them due to the bounce lighting from the sand. Pretty cool stuff.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
30 fps and 60fps are both great, the PS4 version at 30 FPS feels like it’s “getting by” I can’t wait to stab one of those machines at 60fps hd on PS5.

will probably use PS4 Pro settings
MM didn’t use Pro settings when it gave us 60fps with Raytracing so I don’t know where your assumption is coming from. The PS5 has enough horsepower to run this with 4KCB/60fps. It’s a cross gen title and isn’t pushing it to the max.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.

ah yea, since there is no ray tracing present, hopefully there is not sacrifice much on the visual settings.
