Final Fantasy Stranger of Paradise | Reveal Trailer

The amount of money they pumped in to this, they probably could spend less than half of this to recreate FF8 and 9 with 4k pre-rendered backgrounds (akin to FF10) and that'd rake in far more money than this, which is probably on track to be a failure after that reveal.

Edit: After rewatching this seems to be the end of the game? Even then nothing makes sense.
Think someone posted the plot where they mentioned he is probably that angry that he kills Garland and then turns into Chaos himself because of his hatred, it all makes sense

But Garland turned into Chaos by absorbing the four fiends so by absorbing Garland wouldn't he turn into a being other than Chaos considering its now them + him, NeoChaos? Who are they anyway? They're not the four warriors of light, are they some random dudes that hated Chaos? So, they're from the past? Or did they also time travel? And if they didn't who is that voice that says Garland is some lost warrior? But they can't know that if they didn't time travel considering Garland is from 200 years in the future. In this time he would just be Chaos? So, are they connected to the 4 warriors? Do, they not exist here. So did these 3 defeat the fiends?

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

....

I've gotta stop thinking about this in relation to FF1....

I'm going to be honest to you, I don't think Nojima is thinking about this that deeply in relation to FF1.

"We are here to kill Chaos."
"We have to kill Chaos."
"Die, Chaos creature!"
"You sure Chaos is here bro?"
"Yep, totally sure, this is Chaos' castle, that's Chaos' altar Chaos is def in here."
"WhaaaaaAAAAaaggh!"
"We have a physical need to kill Chaos!"
"No seriously bro, where's Chaos at? We need to kill it!"
"Hey you, there! Are you perchance Chaos?"

I'm fucking dying, who edited this shit :messenger_tears_of_joy:

That’s how you know a story is truly 2deep4u. When they use some Ominous-Sounding Proper Noun at least once per sentence.

prediction: roughly 50% of the voice acting consists of grunts, sighs, and the word “Chaos”

I imagine this is one of the reasons why Nomura and Kitase decided to boot Cyber Connect 2 from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Imagine if this was the type of bullshit we had to deal with the Remake. Too bad it didn't go the same way with whatever the hell Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo did here.

Wut? Character design is credited to Nomura, so who executed it is kinda besides the point.

And as I've already noted, Nioh2's character creator is one of the best of the PS4 gen - its way, way, better than FROM's efforts.

It's a good game! It's an ironic game.. see the theme of the game is chaos so the trailer must be chaos!

When you start the game the characters rip out of their skin suits and the title crumbles into a whole new game that is good!

They've overused it, now it's sort of played out.

The only thing that will make a giant sword wielding protagonist interesting for me is if the gameplay were to feature a robust physics engine for all of the weapons and battle system.
A giant anime sword with the simulated physical properties of what you'd expect form a giant slab of iron or what have you. Now that would be sick!
I can't stand it at all tbh. It's ugly design. Even the oversize guns in Gears of War looks retarded to me. Only Cloud gets a pass for nostalgia reasons.

Famitsu: “what was the inspiration for this game?”

Tetsuya Nomura: “I always wanted to make a game about a guy who is angry at some thing. I wanted it to feature a guy who is really angry, and who constantly repeats the name of the thing he is angry at, so the player never forgets that he is angry.”

Famitsu: “what was your concept for the main character’s design.”

Tetsuya Nomura: “He is grounded in reality. His defining feature is his angry face. I didn’t want his outfit to draw attention away from the angry scowl. This is a guy who’s really angry. He doesn’t spend 2 hours getting dolled up every morning like most of my other characters. He doesn’t have time for that. He wakes up angry. Then he puts on his angry t-shirt and gets back to his hunt for the object of his anger.”

Not the most polished trailer but this looks like it could be fun. Just give me a black mage job so I can spam spells everywhere and I’ll be a sucker and probably buy this.

Hopefully they can fix the demo soon.

With the memory of their struggle buried deep in their hearts...
Jack and his allies, Ash and Jed, burn with resolve to defeat Chaos as they throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine. Yet doubts remain—are they truly the Warriors of Light the prophecy foretold?
Step into a world of dark fantasy and revel in the exhilarating, action-packed battles.

Trial version available on PlayStation 5 until June 24th, 2021.
Coming 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5.

Overall, this looks pretty terrible. I’d rather have something like this any day than “brave and stunning” SJW trash, though.

I don't even mind the graphics, but that looked uninspired as hell. Not even bargain bin material.

Maybe if I was 15 again I might have seen this as cool? Who knows. I'm sure Square has a target audience in mind for this, but it sure as hell aint me.

Combat could be excellent, but the art and character designs are not good.

The protagonist also needs to stop shouting while performing finishing moves.

They should have just funded a Chrono Trigger remake or a 2D-3D FF6.

story is based on the original FF1. SE assumed fans familiar with it. this seems to have caused confusion with many. SE forgot that most FF fans are only familiar with #7 and after. the scene is a recreation of an encounter in the original game.

Seems like a complete bastardization of FF1 IMO. FF1 had some time travel paradox crap going on. The main characters look real stupid in comparison to Garland's iconic design.

Characters turning enemies into red crystals and being angery towards everything makes them more villainous then Garland is.

barley anything to revel about the story other than to interduce Garland and the warriors of light.

Won't need to reveal much for FF veterans that know the story. New audience is going to be confused as hell.

Punk boy band takes on armor clad medieval knight. The cringe is unreal.

This would be cringe as hell if done by the best director. But Nomura has a gift for making even the simplest story into a needlessly convoluted clusterfuck, paired with dialog that way too hard to be deep and emotional yet it ends up so corny it makes Twilight look like Shakespeare in comparison.

I felt shame just watching the trailer.

The biggest cringe here is you getting your jimmies rustled over fidelity to a 1987 NES game.

The bigger cringe is you getting jimmies rustled over someone else getting their jimmies rustled. 🤭

An even bigger cringe is you calling cringe at me for me reacting to you calling you cringe for cringing about the game!

Its a veritable fucking cringe loop.

If someone solves it, maybe we can return to our own time like the Warriors of Light?
