Halo Infinite graphical comparison 2020 2021

Definitely a decent upgrade , the lighting was so flat before this . I was one of them who made fun of the original reveal , but credit to where its due . Good job 343i on the improvement

This is a drastic upgrade. Textures and lighting are vastly improved. If you can’t see it, then you are likely in a small screen or just a hater.

for me there is a clear texture improvement, but that small snippet of the open world still did not look great, jsut something is off.. the trees just look so fake and they are so sparse

i am also worried that they have only shown this forest like area, i hope the open world will have alot of variety and isnt just more of that

A Halo ring is completely synthetic, it is supposed to look 'off'.

Comparing the F2P multiplayer mode with the previous years Single Player campaign isn't very fair, there are probably options turned off on the Multiplayer that you'll see in the Single Player, they both have different performance targets.

Halo has always had a certain style, it's not the best but it's nice, if we're going off the new multiplayer(which we shouldn't) we see that they've evolved that style nicely, but it's possible the single player COULD look better.

In a high up fly by the trees look sparse, but on the ground view I think they will look fine.

The fly by open world shot looks pretty similar to these screenshots shared before, obviously just a different POV.

And to add on that,

Look at the rocks and trees and texture. The sand on the forerunner pillars base. It all looks pretty similar to the screenshots from Inside Infinite. I know MP gets the benefit of more baked lighting and smaller scope, but I expect similar quality in campaign and the graphics look nice and sharp to me.

Trees/foliage animation would make this game so much better, having everything static makes the world lifeless
Have you actually seen someone stand still to even know if the world is lifeless? The only things I've seen have been people running around, full of life.

People jerking off to a 5 second clip. smh Damn, how low is your bar for Halo that showing next to nothing gets you excited... And saying it looks better than the dogshit we saw last year is not the compliment you think it is.

It must really piss you off that people are loving what they've shown of Halo Infinite, doesn't it? We have more than just a 5 second clip. We have about 14 minutes of information and footage with tons of MP gameplay footage. And a tip for you: Halo Infinite's campaign will never look worse than its multiplayer. If the multiplayer looks this good it means the campaign is even more impressive and likely a good step above in all kinds of areas.

Left one looks better IMO, that's why I was confused.
I didn't think the weapon looked that bad in the july 2020 demo in the bright daylight, though it was a little 'flat' in terms of color. The new texture is much more detailed and gritty as some would expect from a Halo game.

i think if you zoom out and look at the AR on the left in the July 2020 demo throughout the demo it looks pretty bad in comparison to what was seen in the MP demo.

... apart from the several minutes they showed off that people are discussing in this thread that you're responding to? What? Did you think before you wrote this, or do you always just roll your face across the keyboard and hit "Post Reply"?
Did you people graduate high school? Reading comprehension? They didn't show any part of the actual game other than a flyover with no actual enemies, a cutscene, and 5 second cuts of the multiplayer. If you think that constitutes showing a game, then you have some really low standards.

The opening few seconds showing the overview of the 'open world' area looked to be a significant improvement. Can't wait to see more from the campaign. The multiplayer footage looked like everything is expect from a current gen Halo so no complaints there and it all looks so clean.

Yes, because like you, I've invested my self worth into how good Halo Infinite will be. Stop being so pathetically defensive. I have no issue with the game; I'll be playing it for free via gamepass and for the record, I think Halo 4 is the best Halo besides 1, so I don't have anything against 343 as a studio (although Halo 5 was trash). I'm just calling out the sad state of fandom when you get excited off of this garbage. Like I said earlier, pretend you've been here before with 343 and save your praise for when it's actually warranted.

These would look so much better with ray-traced global illumination, almost looks like they were designed for it but then it wasn't implemented. Texture work looks very washed-out and ambient-lit with the lighting system they have in place at the moment.

Imagine if 343i only worked on Craig to look absolutely incredible but nothing else ! LOL

You're walking around then you come across this, totally out of place, CGI level Craig as a meme

That would have been nice

The art style is miles better than Halo 4 and 5, Halo Infinite looks like Halo again. I guess we have Joe Staten to thank for that.
Joe only came on board at the tail end last year. I'm sure he's made a lot of good decisions on priority and polish, but the general art direction was chosen well before his onboarding.

Some of the visual effects in this are top notch stuff, and this is all at 120fps. Imagine what the campaign is gonna look like.

I also have had the opinion for years that Halo 4 is the best one of the pack besides the first game. However, after replaying Halo 3 on Series X at 60fps, I kinda feel like my mind could be changing somewhat as I've quite literally NEVER enjoyed Halo 3 as much as I did with my Series X playthrough. I have a feeling Halo Infinite hype is playing a big factor there. All I know though is suddenly the beginning of Halo 4 doesn't feel as hot as I remember it feeling after just playing Halo 3 at its very best. I do know, however, that nothing will ever change my mind about how good I felt the Chief and Cortana's story were in Halo 4's campaign, and there were many things I did enjoy.

Perhaps my main mistake with Halo 4 was starting the game in Legendary difficulty. Big mistake. It just didn't feel good to play at all starting out, but I've replayed Halo 4 many, many times at Heroic and normal and felt it was the best, so maybe legendary just didn't feel too good from a balance standpoint for me, which made the opening segment feel not as good as I remember.

That said, there's nothing to be defensive about, the game looks amazing. You are being pathetically negative and intellectually dishonest about what was presented. Say they didn't show much of any of the campaign. That's fair, but you saying based on what we are reacting to, which is MP footage, that they showed nothing, that's flat out just not true when we have all this beautiful footage. We are seeing plenty angles of how good it looks graphically, we are seeing plenty angles of real gameplay.

Yep, the game definitely matches the screenshots they showed us.

The flyover actually features a bunch of brutes on the top of the cliff holding marine prisoners, what are you talking about

Game looks great - the main issue I had from last year was the lighting. That alone make it not look like Halo - colors were all wrong. Seems the delay corrected this.

Game-wise - I wonder how they are going to handle midmatch quitters - especially now that the game is free to play - gonna be tons of people who wont give a shit about being banned. This worries me a bit.

I'm happy we haven't seen any of the gawd awful Power Ranger looking armor sets and I pray they never see the light of day again.

Just think. This is just the MP mode...runs at 120fps. The campaign will be 60 fps which means the campaign will have the potential to have literally double the graphical fidelity. It's crazy that this game looks THIS good at 120fps. Hell, it looks better than any 60 fps multiplayer shooter than I've ever seen.

I think some ppl just don't understand that when you go from 60-120fps, you are literally halfing your potential for graphical fidelity (bc math) and yet the game STILL looks this good. It's actually an incredible technical feat.

So you've gone from "they refuse to show us the game!" to "Ok, they showed the game, but they didn't stream an arbitrary amount of it that'll vaguely refer to!" in one post. And you wonder why people are mocking your idiotic opinions? Between the couple of minutes they showed during the conference, and the additional footage they put out later, there's enough for people to have an opinion on. But hey - keep fighting the good fight, can't let people on the internet enjoy something can we?
