Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 | We Don't Need Roads

I preordered and downloaded this today - and for some reason it actually let me start the game up.
I was like: "did I just get away with something here?"

Turns out it was just a tease and only lets you get to the title screen and says come back on the 27th.
At least you can see some in-game graphics for a bit during the intro, heh.

Weird because all other games I preloaded it doesnt let your start it up.
I did the same thing yesterday and just let it play for a minute or so. Love the menu music with the footage. Beyond excited to finally get my hands on this.

I'm wondering how you can play this on Xbox without a keyboard?

I seem to remember needing my controller and a mouse and keyboard to play this properly last year. For instance, how are you going to press the various buttons on flight computer?

This looks incredible.
sorry but nope that looks bad. i know it's low spec hardware so it's to be expected but i wouldn't enjoy playing that. there is waaay too much pop in and the draw distance is very low. textures are low resolution too.

but hey i am used to playing this game at maxed out settings on PC. i'm just sayind i'd be pissed if i bought the game looking like that. hopefully the Series X looks better.

Its $300 hardware............. For it to run at all is impressive

don't know what they're gonna do about that. you can do the most basic things with a controller. you'll be able to take off, fly about, and land.

either they add a shit load of menus and make the UI more friendly to controllers or they add a virtual on screen mouse. either way that sounds tedious as hell.

I think it looks absolutely fantastic. I haven’t seen it maxed out on PC though, and I think the last flight simulator I played looked like this:

"Microsoft Flight Simulator fully supports Xbox gamepad, keyboard and mouse, Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas One, Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder, and HORI HOTAS Flight Stick for Xbox One, Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flight, Honeycomb Alpha Flight Controls XPC, T.Flight Full Kit X, Razer Turret"

I'm sure most people who are serious about playing this will eventually plug a keyboard and mouse in. However, if you watch the Series X video you can see some sort of controller cursor moving over the control panels.

Ok so you can plug a kB&m into the Xbox then. I didn't really think of that.

Why don't people do that for FPS then to get an advantage?

Most games don't support a mouse and keyboard. A lot of Microsoft first-party games do though (Minecraft, Gears, Flight Simulator, Halo Master Chief Collection).

The good thing that its on game pass. So no reason to get "pissed". The game looks amazing and plays amazing according to people who actually played the Series S version.

Many people do. Sea of Thieves has two sets of servers for example, one for Xbox Only and one for Xbox and PC. If you use a KB&M on your Xbox, then you have to use the XB/PC servers.

i'm just saying it doesn't look good. yes it's impressive it's running at all but it looks bad.

I think you're utterly ridiculous (hyperbolic) - And I'm playing it on 5950x / 3080.

You can have a good time with this on a controller by just flying with the main controls, but it's of course not very intuitive to keep pointing your nose at small buttons with the controller stick..

Ah, that takes me back to the times when I was looking at screenshots of flight simulators in computer magazines and day-dreaming of playing them.. Of course I ended up playing many on my Amiga

lol. You need to try harder with that concern troll.

I am very curious of the reaction from the general consumer market to MFS. It is basically the first time when the hardcore simulator hits the general community market (of course there are trains and truck simulator but they are slightly different).

For me it’s a couch thing, I haven’t found any comfortable way to game with m&k in a couch, I need a controller.
I think Gamepass is a great idea for this release, we know it’s great on PC but using a controller with so many controls can be annoying, testing it out and then invest in a proper flight stick if I like it seems like a good plan.

Is this Chuck Yeagers?
F/A 18 Interceptor on the Amiga 500

It was actually a great sim, felt awesome using a regular Wico Command Control, there was some rubber banding in the controls which made the plane feel heavy. Breaking the sound barrier was a nice touch, check 2:12 at the video above, I haven’t played any modern flight sims but I hope they haven’t forgot about details like that in the upcoming Top Gun expansion.

My recommendation, turn on all assists, turn off the voices unless you like hearing "stall, stall" all the time and turn off everything on the HUD. Use your co-pilot wisely so you can just sit back and enjoy the view.

Because not every game supports kbm. It depends on whether the devs allow it. For example fortnite and modern warfare/warzone allow it. It will match you with pc players.
But then games like rainbow six siege dont.

Not sure how every game works, but a game like COD will detect it and put you in K&M lobbies.

Also, I wouldn't exactly call K&M an advantage. There are players on controller who can dominate K&M players, especially since controller has assisted-aim.

This the tech graphical showpiece for series x?

I'm sure it won't be as bad as it sounds. FF14 and Elite Dangerous have hella controls but using a controller they work fantastic. It does take getting use to. Pretty sure Elite Dangerous has more required keybinds too, not positive though.

My recommendation is to do the opposite of that and actually learn how to fly a plane, and also use a real life auto pilot and nav system.

Learning is awesome. Being a spectator gets boring fast.

Has anybody seen any info on the Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Upgrade pack? On console I keep getting an error but on the website it asks me to redeem a code to claim it. I have pre-ordered the GamePass version and I suppose it may not go live until the Xbox version of the game actually releases but the Premium Add-Ons Bundle for Forza Horizon 5 (£35.99) went live as soon as they added the game.
I'm hoping for a similar sort of price for the GamePass version of Flight Simulator too.
