It must be a game Jaffe is a big fan of. He called it "a Hell of a Choice", and compared it to his Christmas gift. What do you really think that could be outside of Twisted Metal, and of course it's not God of War? Also I'd say it's not a big AAA game, since Jaffe mentions this "surprise" game aside from the other 2 big AAA classic Sony hits he's got wind of.

It seems to me Sony is bringing back an old IP, but it's not getting top tier AAA treatment and Jaffe is crazy about it? What could it be?

Socom?
Syphon Filter?
Jet Moto?
Warhawk?

Don't disrespect Socom like that. It they made it like 2 and actually put some love into it could be a hit. I'm sure they will throw some bullshit br into it but honestly as long as they focus on the core the fan base is there.

Ok, I’ve thought about it a bit and the only thing I can think of that could potentially ”blow my mind” personally that kinda fits his description is either

1. From Software making a Castlevania game licenses taken care of by Sony, a sequel to Symphony of the Night. Would be big, like huge.

2. Bluepoint making a complete remake of Symphony of the Night, in 3rd person and in a modern engine (maybe the one used for Demon’s Souls).

It would be nice to have some extra minor hint from davidjaffe davidjaffe to get a slight idea of what we can expect without spoiling/leaking too much info, maybe adressing these three questions:
-is it an Asian or Western game?
-Is it from a new IP or from an existing one?
-Is it going to be published by Sony?

We know Sony has over 25 games under development, being around half of them new IPs and it includes several Asian (even not Japanese, or at least XDEV is hiring producers for games form there, and both Jimbo and Hermen said they want to grow in Asia and not only in Japan) and western games.

So to reply these 3 questions wouldn't be to say too much.

1- I think it's very likely Western if we consider it's a 1st party game.
2- Jaffe's response implies it's an existing IP. He responds surprised " they're making a ___blank_____, so he knows the IP, it's not new.
3. I think that's a given.

Considering one of Sony's heads said they are working on 25+ games I expect 3-5 1st party Sony games to be released every year for the next 6 years I dont think they would have anything being worked on beyond 6 years.

However, can we say that half of the Concern (*pun intended) is due to a certain group of ultra, mega die hard lovers being CONCERNED about the possibility that they may have to CONCERN TROLL yet another Playstation exclusive?

I’m Concerned about CONCERN and the other obvious anti- Playstation brigade (Mr. Fun Socks/Cat Lady/etc) showing up in EVERY single possible thread to CONCERN troll Playstation.

I’m new to the forum but pointing out the super obvious.

I don't see why a studio from the Netherlands would make a US military propaganda game specially when now they have their own very successful and profitable IP. If the other Guerrilla game isn't an Horizon or Killzone game, I think it will be a new IP.

A Paris studio works on Ghost Recon, and the devs have been working on a multiplayer game plus one of the devs has been making hints it's Socom on twitter.

You hit the nail on the head. Your point was much more accurate than mine. Also, nothing wrong with single player games at all, but could they make like...maybe ONE multiplayer exclusive? If you don't play single player games, there is no reason for a PS5. That said, if you love single player games, there is no better console than PS5 (though Xbox MIGHT finally have quality SP games coming)

It's just all getting so predictable and repetitive. PlayStation is an apple and Xbox is an orange. At least Xbox is TRYING to break their mold, though. I want resistance MP. I want a new Killzone. Why did Sony abandon their fun MP IP??!

You’re dead accurate. I highly doubt Xbox ever gets single players at the level of Sony’s however and the inverse may be true as well. It’s just the nature of the beast.

Been on the same boat. Playstation is basically my single player third person action adventure console and Xbox for multiplayer and multiplatform games.

They had a lot of fun mp games and just abandoned em all. Is it really too much to ask for at one multiplayer exclusive? At least one new Socom, Warhawk, Killzone, or Twisted Metal? Anything I can play with friends.
