The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience is up for PS5 and Xbox X/S

In my opinions motion blur is 100% a must with 30fps. Makes the game look much smoother.
If you move your eyes quickly in reality it's also not picture perfect sharp..
They could tone it down a little but it's very high quality and the demo looks amazing.
Anyway - I prefer GOOD motion blur compared to nothing at 30 AND AT 60 fps. as I said many times - only at around 240fps, the need for motion blur goes away

btw people - you can change to night time at yellow signposts

I hope they update the demo overtime with better performance and bug fixes. It's a nice demo in the hands of the gamers so they can test and play the demo and the devs can optimise the engine.

Just for a clarification for me.
Last year the shown UE5 PS5 and this playable techdemo have all of the new UE5 featured features or are we missing something?
I tried it the demo for myself and it is amazing...
I really hope that the newer current gen games will look like this.

I've managed to give it a go on Series S, you have the expected resolution hit but it runs really well and still looks brilliant.
A massive slap in the face for those who said the console would hold back next gen gaming.
Jesus wept, will you ever stop shilling for this crap box. Is it truly so difficult to ever visualise a min spec world? What could be had if everything was e.g designed around a e.g. 3090ti for example? How much of an evolutionary leap such a scenario would yield, free of restrictions of lower specs? A high tide lifting all ships? No, no?…..don’t answer

I mean, aside from very poor resolution, even I have to agree that it's impressive this runs on xss. Not too bad.
I would still prefer the box s did not exist. It will hold this gen back

Woah.. wtf is this gen capable of in the hands of Coalition, Naughty Dog, fucking Rockstar.
Oh My God Omg GIF by HBO Max

You may not realize it right now, but you are triggered.

In your head, you look like this.

To me at least, you're currently looking like this.

I think that actually this is the perfect time to assess what the Series S can handle. If this Matrix thing is the best thing anyone's ever seen, then let's talk about how it runs on the console you think is holding everything back.

It's just hard to know how it would handle it until you've seen it. I've been curious about how it would hold up in the next-gen engines myself, tbh.

This is a perfectly acceptable result IMO, there are a few cuts here and there, but there is still a generation leap even at the lower res. With that said, I probably will end up upgrading at some point, the XSX and PS5 are just so crisp here.

There is one common trait in reasoning such as yours. Inability to look beyond what’s immediately in front of your nose.

Exactly, got to console warring to call something a "crap box". Some developers said that Series S would benefit when we moved to next gen engines and here we see that coming to reality.

It is now running perfectly acceptable versions of this and Flight Simulator, that bodes well for next gen games on it.

So let's talk about how it runs on Series S and you'll be able to point out how horrible it is to everyone with all this new evidence. That's literally all I said, is that this is a great time to see what the differences are between consoles.

I guess I also made fun of you as well, but people laughed so it's fine. Calm down dude.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Sony Bend and House Marque are the only Sony studios that work with Unreal Engine correct?

Just trying to figure out what the first Sony UE5 games might be from.

So far we know Bend Studio, Housemarque and PixelOpus. Maybe Firesprite also?

Yeah 30fps was obviously going to be the norm when real next gen games start dropping. Even the 60fps cross gen games we’re getting are heavily compromised. Glad I built a new PC.
I don't think so.. It will certainly be an option, but so will 60fps. The "norm" is already established in fidelity and performance options.

We've been over this before. My eyes do not blur when i turn my head from side to side - if yours does, you need to see a doctor.

I'm extremely sensitive for 30fps and can always see it, no matter how much blur is added. I wan't tight controls in games, where I can turn around in miliseconds without getting confused.

Look, I get it - a lot of people wants to play "movies" - they play on standard sensitivity and doesn't use kontrol freeks on their sticks for better controls, so they're not exposed (as much) to low framerates. Luckily we still have options in all games - and I will always choose higher framerates over higher resolution.

After playing the demo I am confident in saying nextgen will be our last generation. All that is needed in the next generation of hardware is 40-teraflops or so to run games with all effects on at 60 FPS at 4K/8K. Nothing is needed after this that I can think of.

What's so funny Riky Riky ?

In most games you don't see the difference right away but in this demo you can see the flickering & the lower draw distance really easy on Series S compared to Series X.

You played both? Sitting a normal distance from a TV you would be hard pushed to see anything but resolution difference, people who own consoles don't sit with two TVs next to each other looking for the slightest difference.
Your basically saying that the Series X is more powerful than a Series S, congratulations for working that out all on your own.
My actual point is that some people were very "concerned" that next gen gaming would be held back by Series S, here we have the most next gen software yet and it runs just fine, it seems to actually run smoother to me.
I wonder how last gen consoles would fare.

What does your point have to do with you laughing about me saying that the difference is more noticeable than I thought?

This is my comment before the demo was released when someone said they wonder how it will look on Series S

If I had to guess I'll say it will probably end up looking about the same on all 3 consoles just different resolutions & maybe a few small details difference.

Have you played both versions? You didn't answer that. I have.
Do you agree that this is the most "next gen" software we have seen and Series S hasn't held anything back? If not what would be better on Series X and PS5 if Series S didn't exist?

The level of detail / geometry is something else in the demo, even the fence is fully 3D modeled with everysingle intrincate detail present, it is just incredible, good bye cardoard fences.

Great news that The Coalition are having a hand in this engine to such a degree, amazing how they managed to optimise the memory constraints so well on Series S.
Just shows Jason Ronald was right, this gen is all about efficiency.

Nanite really is a game changer.
IMO the biggest game changer with this new engine.
Being able to inject basically full detail highpolys into the engine will make everything in games look a million times better basically from any distance.

If it wasn't on Series S how would you compare it? Dumbest post ever.

I don't know why users make the comparison @Physiognomonics made. How much more do they think XSX and PS5 could handle? This demo seems to be hitting those systems hard as well, frame rate a little worse on XSX vs. the XSS in some of the YT videos I've seen. I don't see how erasing the XSS version would allow this demo to perform better on XSX/PS5. Unless they are saying they would rather the XSX/PS5 run at XSS resolutions so it could do more on top of that, but then they are complaining about XSS settings at the same time. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah. ND, Rockstar uses in house engine. Statement more of when devs start leaving last gen behind and start to really push the systems.

It looks brilliant no doubt but I still won't have a good experience playing a full game at this level of low and choppy performance. Wonder how UE5 visuals would look at 60fps.

If anything, this demo proves that the XSS isnt holding back the more powerful consoles. The demo is being downported. The only people who will suffer are the XSS owners and I highly doubt they care about some downgraded visuals.

I have said this before, but my fears of xss holding back next gen were unfounded and this is proof.

This is what so many really dont get.

Having dual LG 27GP950s it makes it fairly easy to compare PS5/XSX (dont have a series s to do so) but for the average person with say a regular 4k 65" TV sitting 6' or so away from the couch if you changed the Series S out vs a Series X while they were out of the room most people would never be able to tell the difference

Its not until DF pauses a game and zoom in 400% counting trees int he back ground can most people see a difference

Since my son picked up a Series S I have been able to see this firsthand

This makes me more confident on getting a Series S, the only difference I see against the other versions is the resolution which I don't care that much... This is way beyond the leap from PS3 to PS4 for me, it's not "the games just look somehow better", this is "games look totally different", as it was in previous generation, this is the leap I never expected but that wanted to see :D
