2023 Set To Be A Slow Year For Game Releases

Can't remember a slate so poor across platforms. This is when we really see the effects of COVID on development studios. The games we were getting so far were most likely already a long way into development when the pandemic hit. But launch of new projects seem to have been stalled. This may push publishers to delay some 2022 games to 2023.

If a $200M movie can be made during lockdown with the VFX done from home, so can games.

Spider-man 2, Pragmata, Black Myth: Wukong and Alan Wake 2 are coming in 2023 and probably some other big games like Star Wars KOTOR remake. It's too early to predict, we'll start seeing more next year

So why would 2023 be slow, if you believe there maybe many delays in 2022?

I think the opposite. 2023 is when current-get will gain momentum.

Developers / publushers rarely ever announce release dates so far away

There's not a lot of games announced for 2023 because we are over a year away from 2023 still

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Don't worry, that'll be the year of Dragon's Dogma 2. :messenger_sunglasses:

Wait until next E3, I guess we should get some 2023 game announcements there.

Zelda BOTW 2 (maybe december 2022?), Metroid 4, Mario title?, Alan Wake 2, Wonder Woman (Monolith), Spider Man 2, MS titles (listed above), etc. Loads of good stuff.

NO PAIN TRANCE CONTINUE
Don't really care. Huge backlog anyways. And Halo, Elden Ring and Gran Turismo 7 are soon here. With that said I tend to play slow and takes brakes between games so not really and issue for me personally.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I just hope Starfield doesn´t get delayed. Meeting first-set release dates is a rarer and rarer thing these days.

People were saying the same thing about 2021 last year and we got a ton of new, interesting games. It's like listening to your uncle bitch about football during brunch every year.

I'm completely over this whole "games can't be made like usual during COVID" line. If you want to argue that games couldn't be made at the same pace originally because the company didn't have an IT infrastructure that supported remote work, fine, but it's been nearly two years, if you still can't output to pre-COVID levels by now, that's a failure to manage.

Perfect Dark should be out by then. Plus I imagine Nintendo's next console will come out with a good launch year.

Next few years will probably be pretty bad in general though. I imagine a bunch of woke games will be coming out as that was really big the last few years. Probably won't be until 2025 when that fad ends.

I feel like this gen has been amazing myself.

Games I picked up this:
Halo infinite
Deaths door
Psychonauts 2
Forza Horizon 5
Mass effect legendary edition(specifically mass effect 2)
Hitman 3
Guardians of the galaxy (yet to start it, doing infinite first)
Resident Evil: Village
Lost Judgment
Melty Blood
Deathsmiles Collection (16th December)
Sonic colours
Castlevania advance collection
Scott Pilgrim
Outriders

2022: (games I am interested in)
Tunic
Elden Ring
Redfall
Starfield
Gotham Knights
Suicide Squad
Hogwarts Legacy
Sonic Frontiers
Stalker 2
Dying Light 2
Plague Tale: Requiem
Warhammer 40K: Dark tide
Crossfire X (campaign)

Other notable games others are interested in:
Horizon forbidden west
Sifu
Kirby 3d land
God of war 2
GT7
Stranger of paradise: FF (very unsure on this one)
Tiny Tina game

I can imagine 2023 will be packed too.

& I'm sure there is plenty more that will get revealed at e3/summer game fest that will pleasantly surprise us.

& I'm sure I've missed out plenty of games I've enjoyed this year and looking forward too. XD

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
To be frank, this was also a kinda slow year for new games and mostly HD remasters and ports for me, these are the games that I got:

- Shin Megami Tensei III HD Remaster
- SaGa Frontier Remastered
- Legend of Mana Remastered
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (still a port though)
- Nier Replicant
- Sonic Colors
- Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
- Corpse Party
- The Immortal
- Castlevania Advance Collection
- ActRaiser (granted this is more of a remake)
- Alan Wake
- The Great Ace Attorney Collection
- Doki Doki Literature Club +
- Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
- Scott Pilgrim vs The World

The brand new retail games that I got were Ys IX, Persona 5 Strikers, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Shin Megami Tensei V, and Tales of Arise.

I feel like all the big 2022 games haven’t even been announced yet.

Sony and nintendo haven’t even announced anything past this summer.
