I know norse god of war is the new hotness. I wonder if they are going to ignore the greece stuff and go right to norse, with maybe some flash backs

They are gonna totally neuter this for the small screen. Some of the shit in the first 3 games definitely won't fly in 2022

This is sounding all too familiar...

Hard to Kill
Please do it right, but since it is amazon I have my doubts.
As a side note I'd see a Jason Momoa for kratos pre reboot but post reboot I have an actor in mind but don't know its name.

If they start with the Norse mythology, it could be a nice action/adventure series, but I have no clue how they're gonna make it compelling as a TV show if they start in the Greek era...

Then again, they seem to have figured out how to make a Twisted Metal TV show, so what do I know?

So who is Netflix going to get because it's only a matter of time before they have them footing the bill on an IP too.

All of these and anime adaptations just reek of corporate America, it really just feels like they're milking the IP's.
It just emphasizes how they're PRODUCTS.

Edit: To be clear Japan does a lot of live action anime adaptations too, but at least they're somewhat self-aware about it and just make them kinda goofy and accurate to the source material instead of just trying to cash in on the IP and make them totally different.
It doesn't make them good either, but at least as a fan I can sorta look at it as just a fun thing.
Most of these adaptations tho usually may as well have been new IP's and would probably have been better if they were.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
They're not going to make it violent or bloody enough.
Pass.

Sony are really jumping the gun on these shows and movies. They should probably wait to see how Ragnorok performs based on the performance of TLOU2, HFW, and GT7.
Games and TV Series are two different worlds. I think it'll be fine as long as the show itself is good, regardless how the game performs. I wonder if they will revisit the Greek Mythology...

I don't think ANY of you guys that post this, actually know why TV TV TV failed for MS. It's crazy how clueless some of yall are.
If I bought an XBox to play video games, why would I want to watch TV on it? Who is that for and why did Microsoft not do it right?

You seem so lost here.

#1 The performance of individual games has little to do with the viability of these franchises as tv/media properties.
#2 HFW and GT7 have underperformed?
#3 Was GT7 going cross-media in your mind?

This is actually a fairly good sign. Amazon is desperate to improve its lineup and has slowly improved over the last 3-4 years.

Would be better to be the premier show on Amazon than a mid-card show on Netflix.

Basically, at this point for TV, you want to be on Netflix, Amazon, or HBO and so far Sony is doing a good job with that with the exception of Twisted Metal, which never seemed that plausible, to begin with.

Most TV shows fail, so ultimately Sony is going to be happy if they can get one or two hits here.

PlayStation Productions is in its infancy. These shows getting 2nd and 3rd seasons will be the judge of their early success.

Starring Tom Holland As Kratos. Marky Marky plays Aries who helps a young Kratos through PTSD of divorcing his wife and disowning his daughter.

I would assume the show will be based on the current storyline with a healthy amount of flashbacks to Kratos' past.

I was going to say this too Christopher Judge would be great! Is he too old though at 57?
Way too old and just had back surgery. Also not a big enough draw to mainline the series. You'd immediately put it in a similar category with See and that at least had Jason Mamoa.

Ideally, you'd get someone like Tom Hardy and limit the number of episodes to fit around his schedule.

Aside from Gran Turismo, seems just about every big Sony franchise has a TV show or movie.

And dont forget the ultimate in TV TV TV. Sony PS Vue. Literally selling cable TV subscriptions.

If they did a movie for Gran Turismo, you'd have to look at movies like Rush and Ford vs Ferrari to see what the ceiling is and it's pretty low.

I think it could have some success as a TV series somewhat in the vein of Top Gear/The Grand Tour and Formula 1 Drive to Survive.

Wow, Sony.. a company known for making huge movies/shows is making... more movies/shows.
He made a fair comparison. In 2013 MS Made Xbox Studios to produce movies and TV shows. Phil killed that fast when he took over. All these new PlayStation shows and movies (Uncharted, TLOU, Twisted Metal, GOW) are from a similar division Sony created to be like Marvel Studios and make movies and TV shows based on their games. If you saw Uncharted in theaters you saw their fancy animated logo.

new school god of war? Or the old school god of war where kratos rips heads, and go fuck a haremm to cool off?
either way the lore is there to make a great show. I don't trust today's atmosphere to actually use that lore to make the show.
