Everyone keeps saying Xbox now has no games coming this year…. Well we will find out next month at the showcase.
Not really confirmation, but yeah, one would think that is what they referring to.
Not sure how games getting delayed would be embarrassing these days. Not exactly like everyone else is on time and MS are the only ones having issues.
The timed Sony exclusives make for a funny anecdote but were obviously known upfront. I can see it being frustrating more than embarrassing, especially since Starfield was looking like the centerpiece of their year (at least from what we know so far).
On the bright side, this gives me a lot of opportunity to tackle my backlog. I feel much less guilty now about finally diving into Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order recently before my extra playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077.

NGL, even if they show some bomb ass game play, it'll feel a bit hollow so close to this unexpected delay announcement.
And yes, it was unexpected the way they kept hammering the 11/11 across social media just a few weeks ago.
I'll be glad to see what the game really is regardless. They gave themselves a pretty big window for releasing it in the first half of 2023, but I'm hoping they can get it out by February or March.

Wait forI know its like they think xbox only has 1 game coming out this year and it got cancelled
You're all in on bets today.I'm sad for Todd, I bet he really wanted to make it to that magical 11.11.22 date.
To me it just shows they were pretty unprepared for this generation until very, very recently. If they were hinging their H2 of 2021 on a game that would've been a multiplat had they not announced intent to purchased the developer two months before their new consoles released, that shows they were unprepared with a longer-term plan IMO.

I think GP and studio acquisitions were their long-term plan. Games take a long time to make and we had/have a pandemic going on. Makes the fruits of those moves a little slow to appear. Even more so since most of the studios they acquired had just released projects and were near the beginning of their next cycles.
Certainly true that their pipeline was too thin for the entirety of the X1 run which didn't put them in the best position to start with this time around. Sony was a bit slow at the start of the PS4 gen as well, it happens.
People are overreacting. We still don't know if they have something in place for this year. People will find out in juneWhat a shitty year for Microsoft
That's not how you sell consoles

That's very optimistic and I'm still looking forward to the game, too, but has Bethesda ever released a massive game in February or March, historically speaking?
Plus what if Avowed and Hellblade II get pushed back, and don't make it out in 2023? They'd need something for the holiday season, might as well make that game Starfield.
If you don't sub for some time MS usually makes you eligible for the 1$ promo again after some months. If I'm being honest I'm not seeing a reason to resubscribe to PC gamepass for the remainder of this year. I have flight sim and FH5 on Steam so that's all I need for now. Might resub at the end of the year for a month to try anything I'm unsure about but apart from that, they aren't giving me a reason to.
It's a shame really, the service was looking promising last year but at the end of the day they need to deliver on that promise, if not there's no point.

Oblivion, March 2006, but then again it was delayed from the previous Autumn, which is what seems to be happening again.
Well I’m not sure if the date given was just nice in theory or something they really thought possible. What’s stranger to me is showing that elaborate Redfall reveal, a game no one seems to be excited for, and then giving us a Summer 22 release date. I don’t understand what’s going on over there.

Yes Sony, Nintendo etc. delay games as well. But not to the same propensity and rate as Microsoft, and not without other games to fill in the gaps. They also don't tend to parade a game as coming on a very specific day, in a very specific month, of the calendar year, only to then delay it by up to seven months (potentially) with a vague-ass release timeframe window.
A game practically advertised for six months (if not more) for a certain date suddenly pushed back by up to seven more months (if not more) shouldn't be needed to tackle a backlog, but hey...
But Halo was delayed too ?And for more than a year and it's Bethesda....They are very hit or miss. The delay is disappointing, but if it avoids another Halo Infinite disaster, it’s absolutely worth it. Microsoft can’t afford to have bad games when they’re releasing so few.
With that said, Microsoft is going to close out two years of their console with just one decent exclusive: Forza Horizon 5. Questions are rightfully being asked: what the hell are they doing? Unless they have a secret major title dropping instead of Starfield - highly unlikely - they’re releasing no major games on 2022 at all. With the number of studios they have, and the time they’ve been given, it’s starting to look like bad management across the board.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see a big third party title money hatted on to Game Pass to fill the gap Starfield is leaving.
I mean, I say it because he always likes to play around with the dates for his games (Skyrim's 11.11.11 and Fallout 4's Vault 101 logo transitioning into a 11.10.15), so it's a shame that he missed on such a special date, 11.11.22, this time around. You're all in on bets today.
Actually, shows how little you know. I was going to go back to Skyrim (already started it last year) and then after that I was going to play Fallout 4. Without this delay I would have went to replay and complete those games much sooner. Now the delay buys me more time to add another game or two to my list of things to play. One of the few big game releases I had never played till now was Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. I have still yet to touch my copy of Elden Ring, so I have more time for that also.
Also, never touched Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Another game to get to.
How could Sony year be dry with GT7, Horizon FW and God of War Ragnarok? Not to mention Sony has games like Forspoken and Ghostwire: Tokyo too that they paid for.Eh. Too much to play already.
Sony's year is pretty dry, too after the two heavy hitters in Q1 - and that's even if God of War hits this year, which would honestly surprise me at this point.

I don't get it, the games they released already don't count for 2022?Because I literally mentioned those already? AFTER Q1 the year looks pretty empty at the moment. Maybe FFVXI hits, but Forspoken looks not good, and Ragnarok is a question mark on the calendar.
It's a rough year, period.
Unless and until we fill out the second half of the year.
They can eat shit at this point for all I care.I'll be glad to see what the game really is regardless. They gave themselves a pretty big window for releasing it in the first half of 2023, but I'm hoping they can get it out by February or March.

And Halo needed another two year delay? Launching a game half done doesn’t work - Halo Infinite is in flames right now.But Halo was delayed too ?And for more than a year and it's Bethesda....They are very hit or miss.
Quality wise they've been hit or miss, like fallout 76 or even fallout 4 that was a bugfest around launch...I don't care how much a game sells as long as it is good (of course said game selling well can garantee a sequel)And Halo needed another two year delay? Launching a game half done doesn’t work - Halo Infinite is in flames right now.
Bethesda are hit and miss if you mean everything they release sells and reviews incredibly well? Fallout 4 wasn’t to my tastes, but everything else they’ve released is rock solid.
Sony already did their job.I don't know how much simpler I can say this.
After Q1, Sony's year appears pretty dry. Even if God of War hits, there's only one Sony first-party game coming out that we know about. If it does not hit, that's 75% of the year without a first-party title. That's a long time.
Versus the year of non-stop excellence from the summer of 2020 through summer 2021: Ghost, Last of Us, Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, Sackboy, Astro, Returnal, Ratchet & Clank. This 12-18 month period is absolutely slower.
You hold it against them that they had great 2020 to call their 2022 with GT7, Horizon and God of War Ragnarok dry? I just don't agree at all with that view at all I guess but if that's how you see it so be it.I don't know how much simpler I can say this.
