2022 is Looking Rough for New Game Releases

Like the title says, what games is everyone even looking forward to picking up day one this year?? .... Its looking rough. These 4 games are the only ones that got my attention but don't even know if I am getting them day one (already have the W3)

Last of Us Part 1 Remake
Callisto Protocol
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next gen
GOW Ragnork is day one if that is even dropping this year

This thread comes up periodically and only means one thing: that the OP's taste in video games could desperately use some broadening.

Try looking outside of the usual AAA backyard on a single console, and you'll suddenly realize that no year is "rough for new game releases."

Personally I'm glad. I just got a ps5 so this gives me time to catch up with some stuff.

Got Elden Ring which will probably take at least a month to beat and then I'm probably getting Ps+ extra and play throughout Miles Morales, Tsushima, Returnal, Demon Souls and Guardians.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
I'll try some shit that hits game pass. Got stray preordered on steam. No clue what will actually hit this year. Destiny is ever green.

If for whatever reason you don't have interest in 2022 games, then it would be better spent trying to clear your backlogs.

If you have nothing else then tough luck. Replay some games or expand your taste and try other games you previously wouldn't.
What AA or indie games are you both looking forward to playing this year?

After Elden Ring, I have been slowly working on the backlog but it would be new to play something new this year.

Nothing else this year interests me. Hopefully my ps5 will get more of a hammering next year.

Stray
God of War Ragnarok
Hogwarts Legacy

Stray, Scorn, Soul Hackers 2, Evil West, Tunic, TLoH: Trails from Zero, Temtem, Valkyrie Profile and probably a couple more I'm forgetting.

Then of course there are some AAA that I'd like to play as well as some DLCs releasing this year.

I have to disagree with the OP. There are several games still coming out this year that I want to play.
Plague Tale: Requiem
Deathloop
Grounded
Forza 5 Hotwheels
Callisto Protocol
Hogwarts
Scorn
Ereban
Atomic Heart
Planet of Lana (Maybe)
Sommerville (Maybe)

Probably even more that I'm forgetting or are unannounced

If I get GoW Ragnarok this year I'm more than happy. TLoU Part I is completely unnecessary but looks so damn good I'll have to check it out. Forspoken looks good too, I don't get why everyone is so down on it.

I'll focus on getting the most out of my one year of PS+ Deluxe I just upgraded for and the three months I have left of Gamepass I got for 1$.

2023 is just crazy. FFXVI, FFVIIR, Zelda BoTW2, Baldur's Gate 3, Spider-Man 2, Factions, can't wait.

It's been a great year for me, but I'm big into Indies, hidden gems and underrated games, just this month I already bought 3 games and I'm probably past 20 new games counting the rest of the year

I can understand your struggle if you only play games with heavy marketing or AAA budgets though.

Have to disagree as well OP...

Callisto Protocol
Hogwarts
Scorn
Rumbleverse (Assuming it's not delayed)
God of War Ragnarok
Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
Metal: Hellsinger
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II
RE Village DLC
Dragon Ball: The Breakers (Maybe?)
Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed (Maybe?)
Gundam Evolution (Maybe?)
Multiversus (Maybe?)
System Shock (Maybe?)

Shadowrun Returns Trilogy and Narkua Bladepoint this week.

That and High Isles on ESO and Shredders Revenge should keep me busy until I see this same thread next month.

There's so many great indie games coming that I've already played and can't wait to finish.

- No Place For Bravery
- Cult of the Lamb
- Bear and Breakfest
- Signalis
- Uragun
- Stray
- Card Shark
- Sea of Stars

Then there's still a ton of AAA stuff

- F1 2022
- Madden
- Gotham Nights
- God of War 2
- The Last of Us Remake
- CoD
- Pokemon
- Xenoblade
- Midnight Sons
- Splatoon 3
- Forspoken

AA Space

- Live A Live
- Evil West
- The Callisto Protocol

This is not a life altering list here but jeez come on there's less than six months left to the year. I didn't even count Oculus games. That's like 4 interesting games per month.

Weak on AAA but still much to keep busy with.

Tons on GamePass, Hogwarts, Modern Warfare 2, Callisto Protocol, Pokemon S/V, and maybe GoW Ragnarok?

Once Modern Warfare II drops, there are going to be some serious hours put into it to really care!

Otherwise, I'm hyped for TLOU1 Remake, Calisto Protocol and Ragnarok (if it drops)

Tlou 1 remake + Forspoken + Gow Ragnarok + Hogwarts Legacy. Hopefully sony, square and wb follow through here with no delays.
Also interested in modern warfare 2, calisto protocol, a plague tale, steelrising, deliver us to mars, midnight suns oh and the dark pictures finale.

A better year than 2021 for sure which had for me just Guardians, Halo and Deathloop that were top tier.

You have a lot of AAA’s on your list, I’d say fill it out a bit with a few indies or AA’s like Soul Hackers 2, ANNO Mutationem, Sifu, Eiyuden Chronicles: Rising, Black Desert, Stray, Little Devil Inside, Tunic, Replaced, A Plague Tale: Requiem, etc. Depends really on your tastes.

Some people really don’t give two fucks about indies though, and with the amount of games out there with so little time… I can’t really blame them.

This is shaping to be one of the best years in gaming. Not sure what you're talking about.

good food yes GIF by Bounce
Elden Ring really hits hard and by itself has redeemed 2022! I have also enjoyed TMNT and excited for GOW:R. I might go back and play more Horizon FW but got pretty bored and put it down after 12-15 hours. Same thing happened with the first one and I eventually beat it so I will likely go back at some point.

SlimySnake

Flashless at the Golden Globes
I will play TLOU remake, Forspoken, Harry Potter and GOW.

Not excited for any of these last gen games. The excitement has left this industry. It's just sleep walking at the moment, and thats how I see myself playing these games. Will play and forget about them the next day.
