First, let me just apologize for my cocaine-fueled, anti-superhero rant here just a moment ago. I've spent a lot of time since then thinking about how I can be a better steward to the avengers. I have also decided to pledge to donate a generous amount toward the local, youth justice league in my area.

I will do better in the future.

The banned OP does have some merit. You can make drive-by political discourse if you disguise it, but the majority doing it are the anti-woke types.

It's because the modern Western-left tend to run away from communities that challenge their opinion (or even from centrist that don't fully align with them), leaving the space to be taken over by such opinions they oppose. It's not the fault of their opposition, it's the fault of them not wanting to engage in a forum that's "generally" free speech. If people who lean that way want to stay, they have every right but they generally don't. The mods can't do anything about that.

Inside jokes aside, I think (for myself ^^) that I will stick to checking out reviews I trust , especially when it comes to shows and movies, even more so on Netflix. My free time is limited, no need to waste it on things I will end up not liking. But if you guys like to gamble with your free time, then you do you my friends.

I usually just go with the first thing I hear and double down when presented with alternate viewpoints.

I find majorly obvious catering to any specific type of people for no other purpose than filling seat/selling products/tickets to be one of the most irritating points of mainstream media, but after being deep in the scene for a few years, even I agree that it gets to the point where it's just tired. Places like HeelvsBabyFace or ItsAGundam are one trick ponies, very evident when you realize that these people don't *LIKE* anything.

Guaran-god damned-tee in ten years we'll have a new cast of people deriding everything that's released, wishing it could be like the days they were growing up.

I mean, the woke deal is obnoxious, but it becomes a bitch eating crackers scenario, because these people conflate actual issues and problems brought about by corporate pandering with you know...normal stuff. Having a muscular woman as a protagonist in a film isn't an issue. Having a black lead isn't an issue. It's just all manufactured rage.

There may be a tinge of truth, but getting banned just means your voice is heard less, where as if you stuck around you could be a voice promoting it (like me).

I hope tommib comes back. It sounds like they needed to report the posters who were being homophobic rather than letting it get to them - as I've never seen a blatant homophobe evade a ban here.

This is an ongoing problem. It's only like five or six users, but they're drawn to many threads involving media of any kind - mostly movies and television - and then proceed to attempt to derail them. They think they're being clever and subtle but they're painfully transparent given the rhetoric they parrot, no matter how muted they try to be, is exactly what one will find by making even a cursory perusal of the various outrage factories on Gab, Parler, and YouTube.

Again, they're not exactly hard to miss. One already ate a ban in this thread, and another predictably rushed to defend the banal and tired "anti-woke" thread brigading and derailing.
