Don't expect the same gameplay of infamous tho.

This one has a steep learning curve before you are gonna able to play decently, it is gonna feel jerky AF for the first hour.

also adjust these settings before starting:

Parkour on toggle instead of hold
Turning down how much they talk
Auto-picking objects
120hz in the display options to make all the modes more fluid
Set climbing to semi-auto
Set magic wheel to toggle instead of hold
switch to magic that is not in cooldown (i don't remember the exact name of the setting)
Auto use the health potion (because during combat can be hard to see the small health bar)

Remember that you can change type of magic with the dpad or the touchpad, you don't need to go into any menu or bullet time.

Oh and the game never tells you that square button is a whip to climb those red rocks in the open world or to avoid enemies (it's like a fast evade move)
You know… or check how you like defaults and adjust yourself :p

Yeah the Square button was something I found out and i am fairly sure the game never explained. It does make the level design more vertical as you can explore all the floating rocks in the sky.

I still kind of struggle with it but it does seem to auto lock to the highest spike you can latch on to. Sometimes you have to hold and aim a bit though. The lasso also works to break your fall, I think you lose health after use drops otherwise. It works on any surface but only those spikes hanging out of walls will launch you.

Auto item pick up is a must, and so is auto potion. The auto L2 support spell switch is a must too, it changes to the next support spell thats not on cooldown so you can continue to assault enemies. Though for both it means you might be wasting potions and specific attacks.

I saw a water magic you get later that also absorb falls from high places.

The full game is gonna feel much better with a proper introduction to all the skills and without having 45095609490 skills already available that overwhelms you.
A good paced sense of progression is important in an rpg.

Much like Marvel's Avengers, I expect the combat on this game to not really land well with reviewers - especially with reviewers who are having to crunch this and won't have time to really "get good" at the game - who won't have time to go into what really looks like a complex "magic + parkour" system in place. Like this video:

Makes me want to fire up the console when back in town and play a more focused game (like 90% of what is discussed in this video I either didn't know or didn't put "two and two together" within the context of the games combat system to appreciate); I went into the demo really trying to play typical action-RPG brawler, when this is really a straight up Magic-brawler with some melee options. And parkour. Lots of weaving in hits with parkour.

The (nowadays trendy) sassy teen girl of color who tries to sound snarky at situations that would normally inspire awe and fear is the worst character i can possibly think of.

Tropes exist for a reason. Also silly to think such tropes are relegated to characters "of color": Aloy is exactly this character as is really ANY character pushing back against an unfair world government. . .as this games lore seems to imply it is.

Same on PSN Store.

PSN I can see, but Amazon?! How? Are PC users just not at all interested in this game, but console users are already dialed in? Is this all due to the demo, that's the only reason I can explain the penetration for console and not PC.

Yeah I agree. This is gonna be one of those games where it's possible to get through the game using the magic system wrong but will give massively different experiences to those who put the effort in to master the switching and different elemental/type bonuses

Yeah, after the demo i searched info on reddit, reee etc. and there alot of nuances that i didn't discovered in my 3+ hours try, the demo try his best to not inform you about fucking nothing...i heard the full game is way better in this sense.
There is a codex inside the game that explain all the possible moves, counters etc. but still miss some advanced tecniques.

A full upgraded character could play like a light clunky dmc in the right hands.

Ι usually prefer the silent protagonist in games, generally. Because i prefer to put myself in their boots.

When i have to play a game with a character who has a personality, the more subtle it is, the better.

The (nowadays trendy) sassy teen girl of color who tries to sound snarky at situations that would normally inspire awe and fear is the worst character i can possibly think of.
Because the voiced white characters aren't annoying?
TWO year exclusivity, dayum! Guess Sony must've also believed those early trailers to be legit. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
Or Square had to sweeten the deal to get it done.

The list is best selling PS5 games. Why wouldn't it be number 2? What else should be selling more than it but less than Hogwarts right now?

You reminded me I didn't flesh out the Marvel Avengers comparison: that one was a game that also had a shaky response to a demo (I swear there was a demo, maybe I'm crazy) and a lukewarm response due to controversial development decisions. . .and this all trickled down to the actual gameplay, which I feel was also full of as much depth as I think exists in this game (from videos on YT from other players). Like you could totally brute force your way through Marvel's Avengers or you could do this:

There's better videos and more recent ones (I like the editing in this one and it was also during a demo or preview period of the game) but it shows what I mean. The same exists for FORSPOKEN and its demo: there are going to be the smooth-brains like myself who just played the demo shooting off the machine gun rocks and then there are the folks who do stuff like this:

. . .I've always said, this game in full might not be great, but I honestly don't see it being because of the games gameplay.

  • Star Wars Jedi
  • Dead Space Remake
  • Elden Ring
  • God of War Ragnarok
  • Modern Warfare 2
  • One Piece Odyssey
  • Atomic Heart
  • Wo Long Fallen Dynasty
There are more.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I think I'm going to give this game a pass, at least for now. Maybe I'll pick it up on PC during the Steam summer sale, by the time they've got everything ironed out technically and the game has a chance to drop in price.

P.s. switch directly to hard, normal is a cakewalk.
Dangit! I knew they could be used somehow but I couldn't figure it out, I thought it would be an ability learned later on in the game. Good to know thanks.

Nice OT title btw. Looking forward to trying this one out day 1. I wasn't sure about the banter before but the demo gave me hope. I actually like the bracelet guy, and I bet its a simple growth over time story for their development as the main lady matures and learns appreciation and humility. At least I hope lol. But we've only seen the beginning so its fair to assume they have yet to grow. I just want a decent fantasy adventure, and my gf has been bugging me since we tried the demo when the full game releases.

That title got me triggered.
Guess there is no room for characters with any personality nowadays. Let alone young ones.
I am getting the game. Not often we get a new ip. Want to try it myself.
Edit: I liked the demo but it does throw you in without any character, story and powers development.
It’s a shame that fun is clearly not allowed anymore and anything has to have good writing whatever it means. I hate that term.
And now also people whine that world is empty. So we want Ubisoft open world now again? The world is populated so you can run for 5 seconds without distraction
I couldn't get into the game myself but you know how it is with gamers now, they like to complain about anything, everything. No middle ground!

and deal with it
what, why? If I think it's shit, I'll call it shit. No reason for having to "deal with it".

And same goes for every game. We as consumers should be able to criticize whatever we don't like.

You saying it's shit, doesn't make it so.
"we consumers" complaining is a different thing than criticizing.
It's not shit. What is shit? A character that talks and jokes around? That would eliminate 95% of games.

The problem I see here is that people don't like the game because they want character to be silent, to be this or to be that.
You don't go to a fucking cinema and complain about everything on the screen. You watch what was prepared for you by quentin tarantion and don't try to correct every decision director made.
There are unlimited amount of games that fit your tastes. You screaming at few games that are not up to your tastes, will only make games more bland and samey. Everything will be the same if developers listened to consumers.
We wouldn't get tlou2 because:
-Abby is ellies gay mother (yes, this was real rumor)
-Abby is trans
-People can't accept story told to them. They want story they imagined in their head.
We wouldn't get Death stranding 2 because it's cringe and walking simulator. according to gamers they should add more shooting and action!!! map is empty! add more stuff!!!

Closed consumers are wrong. They only think they know what they want because they compare it to things they experienced before.
Developers/artists/directors can do whatever they want.

We should be happy it's not another call of duty and looter shooter.

rofif rofif you talk about having "new" and "different" things, yet the writting in Forspoken is the same shit I've been seeing on Hollywood movies, TV series and other videogames for quite a while now.

The problem I see here is that people don't like the game because they want character to be silent, to be this or to be that.
Not true, at least not for me. Funny characters are very cool, specially if they have charisma and a personality to go along with that.
Thing is that imo there's multiple ways of writting funny characters, and they went with the one that's most shit IMO.

You clearly never experienced the pleasures of cussing at the TV due to dumb movie moments
haha. Not like this :p
There is difference between bad and something I don't like.
I remember cussing and whining about Dunkirk stupid fucking ticking clock 1 hours, 1 day, 1 week plot. I hated this movie but yeah... I get it's good.

TintoConCasera TintoConCasera not sure if the famous "writing" is as bad as you make it so. Sure, it is cringe hell probably... but so what? It's not shakespeare and it does not have to be. Proper and correct is the last thing I want from writing.

More than cringe I'd call it insufferable, probably because of the MC's attitude.

Might just be a personal thing ofc. (y)

ps: I love cringe in videogames. Stranger of Paradise, God Hand, even Metal Wolf Chaos. That kind of stuff is my jam. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I will be buying this. Looks right up my alley and seems lit. Don't get the general hate for this game, because it has all the magical action elements I want. It looks like it will itch my inFamous itch as well. Can't wait to play it!

Awesome idea. . .let's get all the terrible, hacky, culture-warrior obsessed drive-by hot-takes out of the way before the game actually drops, to keep the following pages clear.

Nice OT.

I hope this game doesn't tank. It seems like it will but I feel like the team really put their heart into it and unless it's outright trash, I'd hate to see YT dogpiling ruin any excitement around it.. Sending good vibes even though I have no intention of playing it.
