Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
The sequel looks pretty good and I'm not going to deny that but I really couldn't get that far into the first game.

I just got so frustrated because it's so vague. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that it does not hold your hand but at the same time it's so broadly vague that I had a tough time trying to figure out what to do.

To be more specific, I'm trying to get to the fourth shrine that's at the beginning of the game. I completed the first three but the fourth one is up in some snowy mountains and I can't find out where to get a jacket or whatever to protect me from the cold. I've even looked up walkthroughs and they tell me I need to get some boar meat and some fish but I can't find the fish in the pond.

Overall, I just don't know what the hell to do so I put it down and haven't played it since.

Like I said, don't get me wrong. I think this new game looks great but it's hard for me to get excited after being so frustrated with the first game.

Completely inferior to the main BOTW trailer that brought Tears to many an eye.

Still not sure if this game is just gonna be BOTW 1.5 (more of the same with some new mechanics) or a true innovation and Revelation....cautiously optimistic.
Either we are all going to be pleasantly surprised at the new features Tears will have . . . or just BotW 1.5.

Either way. I'll be there day 1.

botw trailers were so good.

this trailer sucks. the editing , the music, shit voice acting. disappointing.

Still looks like it will be a good game, but damn.

Told you guys. Similar but bigger for days. Aeriel levels looks to be the new thing here.

Seems recent sequels are suffering from more of the same syndrom. Like Horizon Forbidden West and Gow Ragnarok are pretty much the first game but bigger. I bet even Zelda would feel pretty familiar after tomorrows direct.

I've just realised I've not touched the DLC for the first one yet, 100%'ed the base game twice (once on Master Mode)

This trailer was lacking one solid minute after the title where they go all out showing the new stuff to even compete with the original.
The BoTw trailer was 3 minutes of long nintendo dick helicoptering

Raising the price is one way to ensure those Vouchers get sold.

$140 for 2 vouchers in AB, works out to $69 CND for both games, so it's a "deal", actually a big deal because Zelda is $89 CND works out to $95 CND.

One can hope that the CND is strong when Amazon.co.jp finally puts up their pre-order, but it'll be hard to see the price being cheaper than $69CND.

You're welcome Canadians for me doing the math.

TL;CR(too long;can't read): If you're in Canada buy 2 vouchers you'll end up saving $26 on Zelda and $15 on any other game that's included in the voucher program. Also "move" to AB.

So I watched this month old video that talks about this being a glorified DLC:

And it made sense to me. Now I understand why my expectations for TotK were completely wrong. This isn't some grand new game that will bridge with Switch 2 like Twilight Princess did with Wii. This seems to actually just be DLC on steroids.

I don't know how to feel right now. I think I need to lower my expectations greatly and maybe pick this game up after summer.

The Switch being what it is, tech and art wise Tears of the Kingdom was always going to look very similar to Breath of the Wild, and NO doubt there were gameplay features Nintendo had to cut in order to fit the harware.

That doesn’t mean Totk can't be an amazing game, it is an incredibly important release for the company but the fans need to check their expectations only because its Zelda, they are coming for this game because its not the next big thing or whatever

Look at this game as a companion title to Breath of the Wild and you won't be dissapointed in any way, like God of War Ragnarok was to God of War 4

At what point is the "Looks like DLC meme" going to be considered trolling? God of War Ragnaroc "looks like DLC", Horizon "looks like dlc" Fucking Elden ring.. "Just darksouls in an open world. not DLC but might as well be.." and now Zelda.. get a fucking grip...

This game will either fail to respond to it's hype or go above and beyond and surpass Breath of the Wild.

Looking at the trailer, I gotta be honest - I'm on the first boat. I'm not expecting the game to be as inventive and mesmerizing as Breath of the Wild.

This trailer really makes it apparent Nintendo has dramatically lowered the dev budget for this compared to BOTW. As many have said hopefully it’s simply that this trailer is phoned in.

Nintendo makes way too much to push efforts like this on its flagships…

When it’s not true
I feel like direct sequels by nature are going to suffer from this as we hit these tech walls.. I get it with Zelda though, Zelda has a history of drastic art style changes. seeing this one as it is, is disappointing... But it is exactly what I thought it would be 5 years ago.. I think it is just suffering from people seeing it as long in the tooth at this point.

This seems to actually just be DLC on steroids.
Majora's Mask was just a expansion pack to Ocarina of Time when you cut it down to size. Lots of reused assets there as well while also having it's own narrative.

Nothing wrong with a Zelda game having a sequel with additional content they had to cut out from the game. Aonuma himself said they had a lot of ideas that could be made into a whole new game and this is what we have here.

Over the course of the Zelda franchise concepts for dungeons and puzzles were either scrapped or retooled for later games in the series. Not sure what the fuss is about.

Game looks like another 100+ hour exploratory adventure to me.

Based on what? It's a short trailer that shows less than 1% of the game.
and it's loaded with a bunch of new content vs the previous game.

This is basically Majora to OOT
Darker and different

How can you tell anything for sure, though?

Much better than the horrible spanish voice over. And by the looks of it the english one isn't great either.

I wouldn't mind playing this one on japanese, Ganon sounds cool.

I disliked BotW in English and it felt cheesy in Japanese, so I tried Latin American Spanish and it was awesome. The VA were excellent and the language also brought a certain gravitas or weight to the story. It was exotic enough to my Scandinavian ears for me to be able to imagine it being Hylian.

Looks great, it's fun to think about everything they have in store for us with the refinement of the base game, the long dev cycle, and the verticality of the sky map.

I wish their storytelling was better, especially with the VO, which was an unsatisfying first impression before hitting you with all the awesome gameplay.

Post makes it sound like you were playing Ark. But yeah I hated that shit too.

Trailer didn't manage to get me excited. BOTW novelty is long gone and 6 years later, visual is starting to show it's age. I can wait, specially when we all know a better version will eventually come to the soon the be announced Nintendo next console.

I haven't picked it up since and that was over a month ago.

I really want to love this game but it's too vague and the world is a bit too empty.

It's definitely not a bad game and I've enjoyed what I played so far but I just feel like I have no direction at all. Even the walkthroughs don't help.

Also, fuck breakable weapons. Fml lol.

Can’t believe it took this long to make this game only to showcase it with such a lackluster trailer. The only interesting thing was the air mobile and the Shadow of the Colossus looking fight. Though the fan base for this franchise is so frenzied it will get easy 90-100s regardless if it turns out to be a glorified DLC.
