Digital Foundry may not be covering Hogwarts Legacy (Update: Cunts showed up to John's home to harass him prior to all of this.)

I'd have more respect for it if they just said "nah, we not tryna get cancelled". But it is what it is. Such a shame that a bunch of clowns formed a hate mob for this magic game. Wish that hate mob would tackle more important things like why is eggs $20 and important shit, lol.

Can a mod close the thread? Seems I may have jumped the gun and they might cover it but it's not guaranteed. We know that John and Alex aren't but that's as far as we're aware. Apparently, Oliver might do it.

Feel free to insult me everyone for the unconfirmed news.

Told yah so... the fact one or two might not cover the game doesn't means that the entire crew is not covering. This would be very weird considering they covered drama games in the past.

It's uncertain so I'd rather not add more fuel to the fire. Still a possibility for now.

I'm not sure why people are surprised. DF belongs to Eurogamer, which is super woke.
I was not aware of that, so it did come as a surprise.
If this an executive decision sent down from Eurogamer then that would explain why.
Still a very stupid decision though.

Don't worry DF, they'll find a reason to cancel you eventually.

This (very likely) won't be down to a DF decision, but an editorial direction from their parent company, Eurogamer.

The people in this topic are just as bad as the "twitter crowd " that they are always shitting on. They are given obvious incomplete information and by the way they are acting, you would think DF personally accosted them.

Talk about a premature overreaction.

This wouldn't be the first time DF bent the knee to the altar of identity politics, that's why I have no faith.

1. I'm hearing there is a huge day one patch, but won't drop until tomorrow
2. John seems like an absolute insufferable asshole.

Well even the fact that John and Alex are apart of pretend world is enough to unsub.

I can imagine John is enjoying the game in his own leisure.

They tried to cancel the poor guy for playing and enjoying Ion Fury in the past.

Probably doesn't want the online hassle/abuse again from era.

I remember being banned from that shit hole for standing up for the guy. But you don't play by their rules. You push forward. Fuck em.

DF staff could have supported him more though. He was alone against the purple fascists. The guy was just enjoying a great boomer shooter.

Agreed. In any event, if they decide not to cover it, there are other outlets that will.

It's time to go oldskool and experience the bugs without an analysis/warning lol.

Yeah I always got the impression John is a bit up Sony’s arse. He edited a post here once where he admitted he wished Microsoft had never entered the industry but can stay professional about it in his work, a few of us saw it before he quickly edited it .

DF is part of EURO gamer. Being up Sony's arse is par for the course. That's what 30 consecutive years of champions league ads does.

Such a dumb move.

One of the things enjoyable about DF was they were apolitical. Just tech of games. Now they've made a political move.

They will not cover one of the biggest games of the year because theyre either offended...or, even worse, because they were scared and they caved.

(PS: Still mindblowing that stories about pre-teen wizards going to school is the day's most controversial book/media.)

Look at all the hate in this thread and remember how much hate and anger John got when he reviewed Ion Fury, no wonder they don't want to touch games like this, he was driven into depression last time!

Come on guys, let's not lower ourselves to era standards and harass/insult people for not covering a great game.

When they went after John last time about Ion Fury, he seemed genuinely upset that they would target him for showing his passion for a game he genuinely really liked, harassing him and insulting his personal appearance.

It seemed like it genuinely really got him down, I'd personally like to see John do his own retro stuff/performance analysis though, his content is by far the best on the DF channel imo.

But I can imagine he doesn't want to go through that again, these era members and their twitter mob are really rotten people.

Hopefully they do a video in the future, as I know people here find performance analysis interesting.

Ya, I’m sorry I’m not going to have any empathy for John on this one. All that Ion Fury controversy should of showed him just how trash and toxic that forum is and just deleted his account then and there. Like why deal with that?

They don’t need that place to thrive and probably would gain more subs covering the game then however many Reeetards over there decided to drop them.

GTA 6 will be interesting

I wonder if they will stick to the same type of humour or...

They haven't covered the game in months as per the post. Eurogamer, their parent site and where all of DF's text analyses are posted says they won't be covering it. Alex who covers pretty much all PC releases also won't be covering it. Eurogamer and by extension DF, is boycotting the game it seems.
Eurogamer loooove ReEeeeeeeeEeeeeee.

This is getting silly. Dislike JK Rowling's comments all you want to, but she didn't make this game.

When your voice becomes louder than everyone elses in the room, to the point where you feel only your voice matters and you'll attack anyone that disagrees with you, that's no longer equality. That's bullying people into submission. It will only make people dislike you even more and refuse to listen to you further.

If you have this kind of mentality, grow up. There's always a bigger fish and it will eventually find you and bite you.

John won’t cover the game because the doesn’t like HP and “Destiny-like” open world like games, LOL

I think thats not a problem.
Also reinforces that the game will have a tech analisys. Just not by him or Retardalia. Guessing either Oliver or Tom Morgan.

I thought VG247 was the worst rather than Eurogamer , I haven’t visited it in a long time to see if anything has changed. They were pretty obsessed with PlayStation products being “killer”

“Vita is the DS killer”
“Drive club the forza killer”
“Killzone the Halo killer”

Erm, what, Digital Foundry are not covering this game because... they are taking a political stance, for what someone who wasn't even involved in the game or even created it, said?

If that is true then that is pathetic because a game should be judged on its own merits and free of any politics where are 100% not relevant to this game since it seems to be very pro-transgender anyway, offering you the freedom to create a male character with a female voice who is referred to as a witch and vice versa. Even the dialogue is gender-neutral, likely to avoid having to record multiple lines of dialogue with 'he', 'she' and 'they' but still comes across as a bit odd in my opinion. Thankfully, most of the time the game's dialogue is carefully written to avoid this so I have only come across it a couple of times. The first time I heard reference to 'they' in relation to my character though, I actually thought that Professor Fig was perhaps old and confused and just didn't realise my character was a boy! I mean it would sound that way to anyone like myself not brought up or educated in transgender politics.

As for Digital Foundry, well I am glad I am not a paying subscriber but, even so, I think I may have to consider my own personal politics here and restrict my viewing of their videos going forward if they are taking this stance. I don't care who owns them, they should stand up for themselves and cover games regardless of external politics. Their coverage is extremely beneficial to raising awareness of issues with the developers and is one reason many of them get fixed. I fear that their refusal to cover it will mean that the issues this game has, such as stuttering on PC, will not get fixed.

*sigh*

What a sad world, we live in, eh?
