I think if anything is to be learned from this mess is that boycotting accomplishes jack shit. Nothing wrong with anyone not supporting a product or business for personal reasons, but people need to stop pretending they are saving the world in the process.

Possibly not on console but the game has issues on PC (no surprise there, I guess). I can vouch for that (it's completely playable but has traversal stutter alas but NOT shader compilation stutter, fortunately!).

Regardless though, I always enjoy their coverage of the technical aspects of the game and engine they run on and how the various versions compare with other and how they run. At times I have used this information in deciding which version to buy if the video goes up early enough. Also, their coverage helps promote the game (I mean if it didn't then they would just cover it, right?) and also highlight any glitches/bugs for reporting to the developers so they can fix them, sometimes ahead of the official launch. I know people will say that they will get reported and fixed anyway without DF's involvement but they are very influential in getting these things patched, far more so than, say, the likes of me or you posting on Twitter or the Steam forum or wherever. Capcom, for example, only patched the PC version of Resident Evil Village after Digital Foundry called them out for the various issues the game had some months after launch otherwise I suspect they would not have fixed it at all despite the issues being wildly reported for weeks and weeks before they covered it.

Wtf are you talking about, all anyone knows is Alex and John aren't interested in covering it. That's their prerogative. DF could get one of their other guys to produce a video if they wanted and may do so.

Their is no evidence that they are scared, that is your confirmation bias. Maybe its just not that important to them and they dont want to deal with potentail blowback covering a property they do not like. They could also drop a video in three days. You are dealing with incomplete information.

I'm on the side of play and review what the fuck you want and that extends to the folks that don't want to play or review it, but the reason I say they're in tough position is because they are deep in the ResetEra community. They will burn that bridge to one the biggest communities thus a bad business move on their part. Same for smaller sites and voices more community driven. I understand why they're not touching it.
