hearing abysmal first impressions too. On Ree not a single poster who has their hands on a unit have much good to say about the display. Maybe all the early reviews saying the image quality is great have set expectations too high... very strange that such glarring issues would be almost completely ignored by almost all major outlets.

It is. The PSVR2 headset definitely has a smaller sweet spot and is less tolerant of being improperly positioned on your head than PSVR1.

If it's a bit out of place, the sharpness drops off very noticeably. Getting it in the right place and tightening that back dial is important.

Does it stay in place well once it’s there?

It's really annoying how many games I have on PSVR1 and the PSVR2 is paid upgrades. Rez is $10, Thumper is $5. Waiting on the others to load.

Yeah, provided the back dial is tightened up, you're good.

Also, I've just realised with RE: Village, there's a free VR add-on you need to download from the Store. It isn't added to the game automatically by the latest update. You have to get it from the PSN Store yourself.

Where do you find it on the store??

We must realize that some comments about being blurry could be from different things.. headset not setup properly, maybe defective units?.. or console warring... Many legitimate sources have gave high marks for the headset, so think we should take all opinions in this thread with grain of salt, least majority of us will know ourselves by tomorrow.

Think it's just a sweet spot thing, I haven't really heard this to be a widespread issue. The video above talks about the sweet spot being small, but if you set it up properly it looks fantastic. Perhaps some people aren't getting to the sweet spot?
It should be hard to fuck up with the eye tracking doing all the heavy lifting during setup. Fresnel lenses have a small sweet spot, if people are looking with their eyes and not moving their head they will be looking outside the sweet spot and it will look blurry and have CA distortion compared to looking straight down the sweet spot barrel.

I remember psvr1 being a tad difficult

You had to adjust more up/down to get it right, I think people miss that

Reading a couple of comments on that other site, and I'm thinking to myself, dude, take off the plastic protective film on the lenses, lol.

Well at least hopefully that's it, or some defective units, or people with degenerative eye disease or config issues.

I think it's a bit silly someone earlier saying things like console waring, seriously doubt these people are going out to buy a psvr2 and ps5 to intentionally trash it. And likely not fake either unless a brand new user.

Time will tell. Still seeing intermixed reports of people saying it's just fine.

Sounds like lots of people might be discovering the MURA/Screen Door effect. I found it very prevalent on the PSVR, I think OLED makes it more noticeable? Won't be able to compare directly until I get the VR2 later though.

I recently tried the Quest 2, played RE4 - that was bright though as I was in the village forest. Didn't seem as 'dirty' there though but they use LCD I think.



The downside of OLED is that there is a visible fixed pattern noise (sometimes called mura), and this can be distracting in some scenes if you’re sensitive to visual detail. But I suspect many won’t even notice it - uploadVR

However, traces of Mura artifacts were observed, which is uneven lighting or color reproduction - Mixed

God Rays are not be completely eliminated but are less noticeable than in the standalone VR headset. A slight Mura effect is noticeable in dark scenes, however, isn’t annoying in most VR games - Mixed


I also think eyes are so individual you are going to see a range of opinions. People who wear glasses but leave them off for VR, people with glasses who haven't got their set adjusted properly, people with inserts and old prescriptions, unadjusted headsets, first timers with unrealistic expectations and only the most disappointed are likely to be posting.

I'm very excited for you guys. Hopefully will pick up PS5/PSVR2 at some point this year.

Played some RE: Village and wow, it's a whole different experience. The all new tutorial reveals just how different it is. Combat seems much harder now though I guess I'll adjust. Visual detail looks great, but seeing it all in VR reveals where the scale of different assets is just a bit off. Going into the village, you can see the horse corpse is a bit bigger than it should be and the eggs are like avocados. In flat screen, you can get away with the relative sizes of things being a bit out of whack, but in VR where you sense the scale of things compared to yourself, it's obvious when they're over or under sized.

I have no major complaints about the hardware. The image clarity is very good, the headset is light and comfortable. With that said, my minor gripes would be that the OLED does seem to show some mura effect in very dark scenes and as a guy with large hands I do wish that the Sense controllers were a little bit larger. My hands fit in them just fine, but I find my thumbs a bit higher over the buttons and sticks than I'd like. Most people won't have that issue.

Damn I remember the first time seeing how steep the trails in skyrim are in vr lol. They looked like they went straight up.

I assume dark scenes are more common in horror games.
So I'm good! I'm not gonna touch any horror game on that thing, I play to relax, not to get even more stressed.

Had a chance to put in a couple hours today but it made me feel nauseous unfortunately so I had to stop and have a lie down lol have to get used to it. Played the Star Wars demo - was really good actually. Im not the biggest Star Wars fan so didn’t plan on getting it, but might wait for a sale on this one. Something about the HUD thingy on your wrist is really cool and using the blasters is satisfying

Song in the Smoke demo was also great but I got disoriented and almost tumbled over because of the movement. I should’ve used teleport but the little I played was promising, might pick it up later. The crafting was interesting

Demeo is bloody awesome! Loved it. The small amount of gameplay I had seen in videos didn’t look that great graphically but it looks really good in person. Waiting for my buddy to get his headset shipped in to play coop

Horizon Climb up the mountain is good, didn’t make it very far but I plan to have a proper session over the weekend. All the reviews I saw were pretty spot on, graphics are good, bow feels great and so is the interactivity with the environment

Side note: Played around on the YouTube and Netflix apps, just display content on a screen which I assume is what cinema mode is. Nothing particularly outstanding, does what you’d expect. Screen at max size is a bit too close for me. VR YouTube videos don’t work as intended

Probably just people who are having trouble finding the sweet spot (which is always going to be pretty small with fresnel lenses, just because of how those are constructed).

Interesting you say this, I noticed the background furniture in Demeo is large. I thought it was a stylistic thing but this makes a bit more sense. The scaling of the tabletop miniatures is really great though

The scale is up to the game, really. Like in skyrim I feel like im 4 feet tall, because everybody in the game appears to be around that height. You get a good sense of how big things are and some are not as they should be.

There is no option to cancel the order on the website, it's pretty dodgy really!

That's why there is a height setting in the VR settings/setup :messenger_winking:

It's so good to be in VR again!

Horizon is a great showpiece. Looks great and keeps things varied enough. I love the gesture walking lol. Kayak VR looks fantastic but gave me motion sickness when I was rotating too much lol. Downloading GT7, Pistol Whip and done demoes.

The hardware feels so good, love the controllers. The lack of drift is very nice.

Sometimes get some tracking lost messages if I look at a specific corner of my room. Should stick up a poster or something I guess.

The headset does have a small sweet spot. Does require tightening to keep in place. It definitely lacks the sharpness of a 4K TV, but definitely a couple steps above PSVR1

Thanks for the heads up. Can you play the entire game in VR or is it a special mode?

And it’s here. Weirdly the charger still says “waiting to ship” on the Sony direct site but that got delivered too. Hopefully that means some of the headsets/bundles still saying “waiting…” are actually on their way.

Tried GT7 and Horizon so far.. The chromatic aberration is most noticeable on white text so all the UI elements on the dash.
I also have noticed huge Chromatic Aberration. Mostly UI. When I set the headset at the sweet spot it fixed but the corner ui still have CA.
Do u have ghosting when moving objects inside the game? I easily can see double images .

Btw I have perfect vision on both eyes
