Redfall: Summoning and Slaying The Rook - IGN First Gameplay

The video didn’t do the game any favours and the cut outs to IGN red squares were odd. Just as the boss arrives and some possible excitement might have happened the video keeps cutting the footage to red squares. Not sure if that's due to getting rid of janky gameplay footage or the player dying ...
i'd almost guarantee it's the latter. covering up multiple deaths'd be the only reason to further mess up an already messed up 'promotional video' (smh)...

This looks worse than I could ever have expected. Not like this Arkane, not like this.

Fortnite is actually a good game though. Valorant is a solid PvP game with a mix of Counter Strike and League of Legends.

This just looks like it doesn't know what it wants to be.

I think they're somehow making a mix-bag of everything but I think they're trying The Division formula here of PvPvE. Overall, not my cup of tea.

I am sorry, but this looks terrible. And this is coming from someone who was really interested in this originally.

I try not to be harsh on exclusive titles because of the response it elicits, but this is probably the most uninspiring gameplay I've seen from an Arkane title, and I say that as someone who isn't a fan of their games. I feel like I've seen this kind of co-op shooter gameplay too many times before and nothing presented was interesting. I could be totally wrong at release, but everything I've seen of this game is just passable at best.

It's weird that people can look at a video & decide if they like a game or not lol

But it's only 3 weeks away & I'm not seeing a big lead up to it's release but I think it's going to end up with a big following on PC. Not going to make people go out & buy Xbox Series consoles like some people was hyping but I think it's going to get good word of mouth

First I was not hype. Then a month or so ago they released some previews that said "hey this can be a single player game like Far Cry" so I got a little hype. But seeing the latest round of previews has once again diminished hype to near zero. RIP Arkane. You were one of the good ones. Hell of a run last gen.

The problem is that they lean more and more on the shooter side with every game but the gunfight still looks like it's coming from an immersive sim like Prey.

While I'm still looking forward to it I can't help but agree with this. Gunplay itself still looks a bit underwhelming compared to similar shooters (even something like B4B).

Yep that looks like a typical GaaS game boss battle alright. At the very least make it exciting. Theres nothing exciting about it. The shooting seems to lack impact, even on the red bar enemies. The player abilities are boring. The boss itself isnt that aggressive and lacks interesting moves/attacks. I dunno, maybe the one playing is making the game looks worse than it is. Who on earth uses a sniper rifle so close to a target and go lock picks doors midst boss fight?

Is the game only online co-op? Or is there a singleplayer campaign that could perhaps be worthwhile?

I haven't paid much attention to the game (I'm on PS5, don't own an Xbox), so I don't know much about it. The footage turns me off, but I'm wondering if we're only seeing one side of the game (sloppy co-op) and there might be a robust singleplayer campaign in there, too? Just asking.

This may sound extremely small, but something that has really irked me is how this is a game about vampires, has blood all over the environments, but there's no gore when you shoot enemies? Wtf? Shooting enemies there's no visual sign of impact at all, lmao. Wtf? I remember thinking, "Eh, it's early, maybe it'll be added later", and nope. It's so odd, lmao.

Let me guess, CUPHEAD was also a terrible game because of that one fella who couldn't get past the tutorial.

That's probably easy to do if you just make up nonsense about a game. REDFALL isn't and has never been advertised to be anything close to "The Division" least of all with PVP (like where do you even get that).

I don't think bosses will be the games main selling point. Given I've watched other gameplay footage I think this will make a good solo shoot em up game with a half baked Vampire aesthetic. The Vampires seem more like evil wizards/witches then typical Vampires. The lack of blood is disconcerting in a Vampire game but it kinda looks like Borderlands + Vampires to me.

I'm willing to give it a go but Deep Rock Galactic has spoiled me too much. Cautiously optimistic.

Look... I'm going to play this game, thats the advantage of gamepass but...

Every trailer makes this look shit, the lack of impact is just terrible. I understand its a boss fight, but it's just so... boring... run around house and farm and shoot entire mags into the boss for zero reaction and he just teleports away.

I'm hoping the game plays better than it looks.
But the advantage of not having GamePass is you'd spend your gaming time on a better game that you actually wanted to buy.

I don't know if it is so much shitty gameplay as it is shitty gamers. The guy playing just seems to throw shit randomly and at :53 in the video he has the "Bellwhether Operator" guy lined up and takes out MOST of his health but then turns away isntead of finishing him off. I really don't understand what this guy is doing at all.

sad black and white GIF by Hyper RPG

The Division is of course a much superior game, but talking about the PvPvE element here.

oh boy. watching this thread tells me 2 things:

1. This game is no way near to the levels of expectations/hype some people are making it out to be.

2. IF this game falls in the 70s on Meta....you know what kind of narrative is going to circulate online.

I think the reality of the situation is that this game was green-lit before the acquisition and Bethesda needed to make a "popular" game.

...was this game meant to have MTX's?

i don't see a strong Arkane identity. and the co-op doesn't feel well-integrated or meaningful.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Let's not forget the Arthur Geiss Doom 2016 video.
