And nothing of value was lost.

Though credit were credit is due, they did at least give us this gem:

This is all he is going to be remembered by. Imagine this being the legacy you are leaving behind as a video game journalist. Good riddance.

It's a shame but at the same time I doubt they thought about developers losing their jobs while boycotting stuff that didn't align to their views. They also had families and were passionate about their jobs.

I'm sure he will be able to find a job although maybe not related to video games and that's fine. I also wish I could work in the industry but got a mortgage to pay.

I looked at some of their articles just now, didn’t know waypoint existed.

Tbh, this is not journalism. It’s basically the op ed portion of WSJ but for games? Gaming journalism does need to get better, imo nothing beats OG Gameinformer and Gametrailers (but those are basically dead now too)

Lol imagine living in a society that has produced so much excess wealth to the point where you can actually make a job out of talking about video games. Then you end your shows with “fuck capitalism”.

Yup, Klepek & co must have such a flabby and entitled mind-set to think they deserve to be paid in perpetuity for talking about games with a "progressive" bent!
As if that's sooooo intrinsically valuable that it supersedes all market forces in that Capitalist system they are endlessly decrying!

Talk about slacktivism...

Lol yes, they literally had a job where they got to sit in an air conditioned room and talk about entertainment products. That has to be the cushiest and least essential job in the history of mankind, and they act like they are living in the most unfair and oppressive society on earth

Sucks for anyone to lose their job unexpectedly. I used to listen to the podcast a lot. Generally, it was like 40% excellent video game discussion, and 60% left wing yadda yadda about every little thing.

Like many other podcasts over the past few years, I got exhausted with the “our view is the absolute only correct view and you’re a terrible, evil person if you think otherwise.” I even agreed with some of their thoughts on things, but it was just too much. It’s like wallowing in misery to be that mad all the time.

I find the man a hypocrite and a repulsive human being. I still sympathize with anyone who stays up at night wondering how they're going to feed and shelter their family in a few weeks. I hope he finds new work, preferably outside of the video game industry forever.

You are a better person than he is. If you were someone of the opposite political leanings and lost job, someone like Patrick Klepek would be laughing his ass off and tweeting that your nazi ass deserved it.

it was already a miracle they survived the wave of layoffs a year(?) ago. They were making 6 figures while being able to work remotely. also they're part of the gaming woke cabal so they'll easily get jobs in this shitty nepotistic industry through their connections or rebound with a patreon.

Not to throw salt in their wound. I didn’t read their stuff. It felt too much like an agenda driven site than a video game news site. It’s a finger pointing contest with people who have worked in the gaming journalist industry for X+ amount of years. Hopefully their families will survive this.
Unemployment is at an all time low. If they want to work they can this isn't the 1930s.
