Dove takes a stand against overly sexualized women in video games

I have a dad bod and a gut.
But seeing a shredded buff guy in a video games doesn't bother me at all. In fact I think it's cool.
Why are some so hyper triggered because they're not "represented" ?

Video games should remain a fantasy, NOT a reminder of reality.

It's always strange to me when people defend overt and needless sexualization in videogames. Like I get the audience is comprised of a lot of incel types and what have you, but move on with your life and get your needs met elsewhere. This is a you problem.

How wanting good looking characters in your game has anything to with this? Is both video games and movies are entertainment and I guess what most people enjoy having good looking characters in games and movie, yes I know it’s fucking big shocker.

It makes no difference to me if Aloy is a 10/10 that I would drink a gallon of her piss just to see where it came from, or if she is a 6/10 or 7/10, etc. Either one of those outcomes wouldn't have made the games better or worse for me, and lets be real here, we aren't talking about pretty people in games. That isn't overt sexualization.

I'm mostly referring to super big breasted and scantily clad women with tit physics and the nerds that get offended when you call them out for being weirdly fascinated by them.

Now do men....since 'we' don't look like vid game characters either....or...
Accept that fantasy entertainment is fantasy and we and our schools need to do a fuck ton better job educating our youth to not make video game characters your role models.

I wouldn't waste time on the matter. I think that type of sillyness you can only find in games media(perhaps because its easier to target). Pretty sure if person calls people for watching movies because "wank female body", people probably would call that person a retard.

It's time to change the conversation to why can't you be more active and eat less? And see how many compelling excuses you get. 5k walks can be done on your lunch hour.
Yeah. I’m running on the 1 hour lunch break, roughly 6km, takes about 30 minutes, 40 including the shower, 20 minutes left to eat. Feels great and at my age that’s what gives the best result since I can’t expect to build any Schwarzenegger muscles. 1-3 times per week has been enough to shave off the belly. Actually haven’t changed the eating, if anything I eat more now.

The funny thing is games that usually people like to complain that character are too “sexy” have no nudity and or sex, but games like TLOU2 that are considered “brave” and “progressive” have nudity and people humping each but that okay as long as characters are ugly….right? Is that the logic?

The only thing you need to know is that no matter what anyone does there will always be a group of people that are mad about it, and they usually have Twitter accounts and make it into a big deal.

A soap company who, for decades, used overly sexualized models and supermodels in their product advertising, which would run in "beauty" magazines that also parroted unrealistic body views to impressionable teen and young women now wants to shame video games and gamers for overly sexualized women?

99.9% of people are against it. 0.1% are for it. Most people call out fatties for being fatties. Somehow companies think those 0.1% who live perpetually on the internet, are their biggest customers.

To be fair the bolded is a LIE! Most people see fatties, but don't say anything because that's just rude man. What kind of A-Hole tells people that they are fat?

Here is Dove's parent company giving you the inside scoop on how lucrative the gamer market is...and delivering ice cream to game streamer influencers.

It’s a tantalisingly lucrative market, estimated to be worth $159 billion in 2020. And according to a recent report by marketing consultants Simon Kucher, 39% of players are ready to spend in the in-game space.

But here’s the rub – the online player community can be hard to reach and if your brand tries to market to them without knowledge of the game or its community’s etiquette, then it’s rare that you’ll get a second chance to market to them again.

Matteo Trichilo works in our start-up division ICNOW (Ice Cream NOW). He and the team are dedicated to finding opportunities for ice cream in the on-demand delivery space.

the Magnum team crafted the campaign around a key moment in the game which is the destruction of the First Tower. When the gamer destroyed the tower, a pop-up banner promoting Magnum Pints ‘created to break and that taste like gold’ appeared alongside a link where gamers could order a pint of ice cream for speedy doorstep delivery from on-demand delivery partner Glovo, and also enjoy a 25% discount.

Yeah...lets re-enforce the gamer memes that they are too fucking lazy to get out of the house to buy groceries that they need fucking ice cream delivered while playing.

If someone is fat, they are characterized as fat. They aren't "big boned", they aren't "plus-sized", they are fat. Obese. People wholly incapable of taking care of themselves.

What is rude is trying to deny healthy living because some folks can't handle being told reality.

Computer games have become the equivalent of 18th century paintings where the majority of women were portrayed as fat to show wealth even though 90% of women were probably underweight back then.

Has anyone else here pointed out the glaring fuc**ing hypocrisy of this coming from a skincare company that sells "anti wrinkle/aging creams" that don't work and that you don't need, which they market towards girls and women to create a system in which youthfulness is superior.

The hypocrisy of that and the audacity of this coming from a skincare company to point their fingers down at us is the absolute filth.

Liking overt sexualisation doesn’t make you an incel just like your comment doesn’t make you a cuck.
Eh. I am no prude and at the end of the day it makes little difference to me what direction games are taken in when it comes to all of this, but I can't help but cringe a bit when I see men get overly excited about shitty characters like Quiet from MGSV and teenage giant breasted girls in Japanese fighting games. Which is mostly what I am talking about. I am judgmental enough to quietly judge those people and I think that is entirely OK.

So their implication is that "representing" women means showing women who are out of shape. Because obviously, women aren't capable of taking care of themselves. That's crazy misogynistic.
