Is there a way to remap running? I’m still struggling with the controls a bit. Especially jumping while running. I already switched both controls in the settings but it still feels weird.
You can swap Running and Jump/ X and B, but no other options beyond changing them at a system level.

The lack of options in general is embarrassing.

Depths are largely disappointing. Some decent armor, but otherwise all you really get is Zonaite which goes towards the part of the game I don't even use much.
Noobs at depths lights up flower things and lights up the map

when you get leveled up it's a vehicles sandbox especially flying machines

All the Yiga and quest stuff down dare is incredibubble plurs thers lots of vicious enemies

Is your hud in? I’d just play with it on for a while and get used to them.

They are not standard but eventually they make sense.

You can switch l buttons with a single option in the game. I’d try that

I already swapped the buttons but it still feels very unintuitive. Hoped there would be more options somewhere

You can remap in the Switch OS. Go to settings.

I thought the same when I first played BoTW.

It’s unique but once you learn the actions and button combos it’s capable of pulling off some crazy sequences that really wouldn’t be with a standard control system.

I’d just run around. Jump off things to bow. Then to glider etc. just different transitions. Pulling out weapons switching weapons etc etc.

Eventually you will get an understanding of it and realize why it is the way it is with dedicated buttons for each action.

What's the best form to find caverns? Im finding shrines with ease, but Caverns are the oposite
Look for cherry blossom trees, you can offer a piece of fruit there and all cave locations will be revealed for a brief period of time.

I haven’t found them all but from what I’ve gathered there seem to be one for each region.

Another way is summoning Satori, a deer like creature. Find a cherry blossom tree. Under the tree you can find a place to put fruit. After you put the fruit, the Satori will appear and highlight all the cave location. I found one near Zora Domain, there's a Gerudo lady sitting there, explaining things.

To add to the answer above, so far I've seen two cherry tree; one east of Lookout Landing, one south of Akala. I just wish it wouldn't highlight caves you've already discovered though.
(also, you can take back whatever you put as an offering immediately)

This game.... You are going to do something and when you realize it you end up exploring for hours and hours without even touching the main story.
only game other than TOTK/BOTW that gave me that feeling was elden ring.

Is there any reason to explore the underworld earlier than late game? Maybe after all the story stuff is done?

I keep finding treasure maps throughout so it feels like I shouldn’t focus too much on this area

There doesn’t appear to be many great rewards either

I finally managed get top of those long dragons, what I didn’t know is this guy is burning hot🔥 I lost my most of shield and weapons but I did managed get some rare materials.
Yesterday i managed to mount the thunder one but i have no idea on what to do with the materials i got, probably for armour upgrades.

I even smacked his nose and got the horn.

I honestly can't remember the last time I played a game that I couldn't stop thinking about when I was not playing it.
I don't think I've ever played a game were everything just comes together and plays like it does.
If I had to choose between my PS5 and Switch, it would be Switch because of this game.

Can someone explain to me like I'm five how to increase one's battery? I read some comments on Reddit but what they're saying makes no sense to me. I think I may have missed something.
It's so easy to just look it up on YT but here goes(don't go past 4 min mark lest you wanna do it not so legit way):

Video says to go back to tutorial area to increase powerbank but there's an NPC near the outlook camp in Center Hyrule that can do it too.

20h in or so and loving the game but I have 2 problems with the game so far

- depths are a slog and so boring to explore, surface and sky islands are amazing to explore.
- exploration doesn't reward me

Beside that, really great game so far and likely my goty 🔥

Depths are meants for vehicles mostly flying and harvesting Zonites batteries plus it's covered with mini bosses you gotsa light up the flowers and level up your building
Explorations rewards the crud outta ya tons of sidequests and different sets of armour and shrines everywhere. Goes in all the caves.

I can agree that exploration rewards feel pretty flat. Finding armor sets/pieces is cool, but other chests just contain consumables or weapons that are gonna break anyways.

And if weapons didn't break you'd leave them behind if they're not better than your current ones, at least with BOTW/TOTK system you'll more likely use weapons you find.

Been going around the map finding and doing Shrines for the past 3 hours, finally fully upgraded Stamina and a load of Hearts for the 2 last temples, I will say I have had 3 major issues with the game so faar:

  • The lack of Arrows without farming them, they drop really infrequently and you need them for stuff quite often as well, I feel like they should be a bit easier to find
  • The enemies hit you far too hard, even the small red Moblins, I have the Champions Tunic and a defence of 11 and they still take 3-4 hearts off with a club, the scaling feels off
  • The new Champions Abilities are not that useful outside of the Temple they're for, granted I only have 2 so far (the Wind and Water ones) and the ones in BotW were far more useful

Break boxes. Carry an axe and you can always find arrows. They are way more prevalent in this game. I also buy them any chance I get.

I like the difficulty. I mean I’m still running around with 4 hearts and base gear. It is definitely more difficult than BoTW even with decent weapons. I like having to use food for combat buffs.

Is there a bigger fake news goin round that the combat is not good in this game?

Its the best looks at the crud you can pull off if you are pro levels the skill ceiling is high

Yeah, i don't get people who say the combat isn't good when you've got so much variety in it. It may not be the dogde-roll-dodge-hit-repeat of Dark Souls, but it's fun and you can be inventive.

I used the Switch control settings to remap, swapped A/B. Unfortunately the game UI won't reflect that.

my problem with hands are when they appear directly under me. Pretty hard to run away so I can use my bomb arrows
I think there is a music clue before they appear so you can start run and climb on something.

Also protip, try to always have at least one shield with a rocket attached for these or other situations, you use the rocket jump and you have all the time to fire bomb arrows in bullet time while you are falling down.

this is why i upgraded my shield capacity with koroks before upgrading the weapons capacity, to have always a couple of shield with utility tools like the cart to do skateboarding, the rockets or the flamethrow.

And the rest are there to sell you overpriced roasted bananas. 🍌
Lol i had that encounter just yesterday:lollipop_squinting:

It's wild how people can have completely different opinions, i think the exact opposite of what you said, all 3 points.

I swim in arrows and never had to buy one from vendors, enemy are not nearly hard enough and abilities are much more useful that the ones in botw that i never used basically.

I mean I'll give you the opinions differ on the first 2, I mean the harder enemies is fine, I played BotW on Master Mode for example, just here they seem a little too strong at the start

But the Champion abilities? Aside from maybe the odd shield when needed and the odd little boost you get to a glide, I haven't found a use for them (like I said I've not even seen the last 2 yet so I may be completely wrong on them)

I only have 2, the rock dude and he is a great opening against groups or armoured guys because it melt their armour, and he make me break wall stones without wasting my rock hammer or bombs, so utility both in combat and exploration (also useful when i don't have rock hammer to mine ores)

And tulin is great to cover more distance with the glider, like i always use that son of a bird when i'm in the air and in combat you can push mofos out of cliffs, so again, utility in both combat and exploration.

And let's not even start talking about their utility as tanks during battle when they distract enemies, hell tulin even does some cool shit like repeated headshots on enemies, rock dude is slow af but it make enemies flying...

And best thing about them, the cooldown is pretty short and you can upgrade them with blue orbs so they get even better.

Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't the abilites in botw had long cooldowns? I remember using them a couple of times and never looking back because of that.

The only flaw? Framerate tanks in combat the more companion you have, digital foundry can fuck right off with their analysis...i don't wanna even imagine how it is to have all 4 out.

Yesterday i reached the thunder girl and her ability looks cool as fuck aswell, especially because it rain a lot in this game, i can only imagine the carnage on groups under the rain...

Like even if the dungeons are still divine beast in disguise and i kinda hate them (but not as much as botw) now i can't wait to do them for the rewards as opposed with botw where i dreaded doing those fucking beasts.

I really love the ending, when the Lynel disappear as the recall turned off. Looked like Link snapped his finger and said "too easy"

I met one at labyrinth. I was walking at the roof of the labyrinth and then landed right where they were lol

My problem with the champion is that I have to get to them to activate it. When fighting, they are usually very far from me.

Ah you can upgrade them? That would be useful for Tulin to help glide me further, they can be useful in fights to tank I'll give you that, especially against the Phantom Ganons

In a sky island i collected a random blue orb and the description was related to improving companions (it was a while ago) but i have no idea if you upgrade the cooldown or the strenght of the skill.

Yep. Reminds me of DMC with how high the skill ceiling is. So much to try out and mess around with.

The biggest test is in BotW at Eventide Island, its a pain but you have to get good with the mechanics to get the Shrine there, not sure if TotK has something similar

Haven't been any significant challenges tbh aside from crawling the Depths early game.
