If xbox is huge in the uk how would you call sonys position worldwide or even in the uk alone.
Cma has a problem with cloud only.
And rightly so, because xCloud has a 70% market share while PS+ has a 20% market share.

If your argument is that the company with the minority share (Xbox in the console market) should be protected, why change your principle when it comes to Cloud market where Sony is the minority?

The best thing about this deal is seeing how, all of a sudden, Gaffers are extremely concerned by the future of cloud gaming. Unbelievable, since every post about cloud gaming at Neogaf in the past was generally derided as a totally worthless enterprise no serious gamer would ever consider. Add to that the extreme Gaf concern about the future well being of COD, a franchise that Gaf considers dude-bro territory since it’s initial release. The amazing power of this deal. 😂

Selective generalization. I've read plenty of arguments on GAF from plenty of folks stating "cloud is the future". There have been many who claim that it is inevitable and local gaming would up and disappear. And what about Phil Spencer and his boasts that Nintendo and Sony were out of position for the future that is cloud gaming where Microsoft will be competing with Google and Amazon?

If sony took cloud srsly then they would be bigger then xbox cloud in a heartbeat.
The cma thinks i m a cloud user while i fire up some games in the cloud for rewards. Their numbers are wrong again.

We could say the same about Xbox.
MS has more money than Sony and are now spending this much money on Activision. They could have went toe to toe with PS, had they invested that money on Xbox early.

The truth is that you cant predict the future. At one point, your system is great and doing fine. The next thing you know, you are in deep shit, because of wrong invesment(X360-Xbox one).

And sonys cloud share could be much higher too had they invested. Ms shouldnt be punished for beinf the first to heavily invest in cloud or offering it with my gamepass.
I think the abk deal is better for everyone sony players included. Sony is a very scummy company when they have too much power. Same for ms.

67b spending isnt beneficial to us gamers. Stop it.
It allows more consolidation. What do you think Sony will do, if this deal passes?
They will go around and buy bigger studios, which locks it to their platform. Do you like that future?

That will happen regardless and that goes for both companies. Good thing is that we have regulators that can stop them if things get out of hand.

Will Sony buy bigger studios? Or double triple quadruple down on more live service games to make that sweet sweet microtransaction money??

I have no problem sony acquiring other studios. New ones will always pop up anyways. But i wouldnt advise sony to go that route as it wont end well for them.
I want a more or less balanced playfield while sony players want status quo.

That really depends on the studios that they buy. Getting something similar to Insomniac wouldn't end badly for them. Now if they go after something large regulators might stop them.

Sigh.....
Cope ? Why should i cope lol.
Its about a healthy market and bigger marketshare for ms.
Sony fans would benefit from a strong ms but you are obviously too short sighted to understand that.

Why can't they work with what they have? They certainly have enough studios that they can steadily release great content with them. There's no need for either to go after big publishers to compete.

MS drop in market share since the 360 is the result of their actions.
They need regulators to fight their fights now?
Do companies now get worldwide protection when their market share drops because consumers prefer the product of competitors?

Wtf lol its sony that s crying to regulators about the deal not ms.
If anyone is getting protected here its sony. I m done with you

Nobody ever talks about the deal benefitting third parties too. Its much better for them when xbox is as strong as ps. Thats why they are all in favir of the deal. The only ones against are sony and google . This says it all really.

It doesn't benefit third parties at all. Independent studios will have one publisher less they can rely on to fund and publish their games. It will force a lot of studios to either publish their own games or abide by the rule of having their game on Gamepass day one - if they choose to still go with Activision, even if they don't want to because of the toxic effect that that has on sales.

On top of that publishers like EA and Ubisoft will not be able to financially match Activision after the merger.

And yet they are still in favor of the deal. Why?

Another juvenile trying to ignite console wars when the decision had nothing to do with consoles. User has been removed from thread.

Ok one last time. If they were no regulators this deal would have been done already. So stop all that nonsense about ms needing regulators. Its sony that gets protected here.
Besides regulators are not there to protect or help companies but customers.
Something you and the cma dont seem to understand.

How is Sony being "protected" when the console aspect of this was thrown out by both the CMA and the EC?

Yeah right. Let's allow Sony to merge with Nintendo, since there will be no regulators to stop them.

Oh, I got a better one. How about we let MS, google, apple, Amazon and other giants to merge together. Wouldn't that be wonderful, since no regulators would stop them from doing that.

This is how the echo chamber becomes so powerful
They are so used to blocking anyone who disagrees with them

If powerful is a new euphemism for deluded, then sure. Otherwise, what?

The fundamental flaw with Echo chambers is that they collapse under the weight of any opinion that differs from theirs. To be involved in anything like that is a sign of some deeply personal mental issues. Allow me to quote the professionals...

"environments where beliefs exist unchallenged and are reinforced by the group, regardless of validity or accuracy."

That XB influencer thing where they block if you challenge their opinion, is actually a coping strategy.

And if Xbox took consoles seriously, they would be bigger.

Why allow Xbox buy up multiplatform publishers so they can "compete" when they are behind due to their own mistakes of not taking Xbox and Xbox consoles seriously?

Microsoft do need regulators if the acquisition is large enough. Buying something the size of Double Fine isn't going to activate the regulatory process.

And you already replied to that post before...
Are you OK?
You seem to be a little stressed.

The fact they labelled every game pass subscribers as a cloud gamer instantly raised eyebrows.
Like it or not, that is what Microsoft chose to do with its cloud offering. They bundled it with Game Pass Ultimate, and therefore, anyone who uses GPU is also a cloud gamer. Ya'll are simply clutching at straws...the key reason MS bundled their cloud offering with Game Pass Ultimate is to grow their user base quickly.

CMA isn't responsible for how MS chooses to bundle its services to make them attractive to consumers. I provided this example before, but if I am subscribed to a service like Netflix and haven't used it for the past few months, would you consider me a Netflix subscriber? If anyone decides to bring Amazon up again, understand this, if Amazon was the one buying A&B, they'd have the same issue.

I don't know that much about Xcloud but how does it work?

I understand with gamepass you can play your games via the cloud. However without gamepass can you just play games through the cloud if you bought them digitally?

You need to be a subscriber to Game Pass Ultimate, and if you are, you can play games that are available on the cloud locally or natively. The option to play via cloud is available from the console UI, from the game's page, similar to how it is on the PS. You are simply making a selection, and if you choose cloud, no installation is necessary.

EDIT
Not sure how they have set up the PC app, since I hardly launch it, but I bet it is similar.
