I was wondering the next ZELDA for Switch 2, looking like KENA for PS5!

you may call me crazy, but sure! I can imagine ZELDA looking like KENA for PS5, but running at a lower resolution, but using DLSS of Fidelity FX, to make it look like 4K...

I mean, ZELDA Tears of The Kingdom is not exacly a cell shading graphic, but a kind of cartoon visual, far from what Ratchet Clank look. But if you consider the density of KENA's forests, and all those green filters, you may imagine how next ZELDA will look like.

What's your opinion about next ZELDA?? Maybe more realistic like Twilight Princess?? maybe in the middle, like Ocarina?? Or even the same Breath of The Wild style, but with more polygon, textures, lighting??

let's talk my friends!!

Nintendo will release PS3.5 looking games (in 4K this time) for the next 10 years and their fans will eat it up.

Should have been demanding better graphics for the past decade or so.
you must be kidding man!
Switch already has better graphics than PS3, I know that Naghty Dog and Santa Monica did a good job in the past, but DOOM ETERNAL wouldn't run on a simple PS360 console.
I know, maybe Switch is a kind of PS3 PRO or 360 PRO in term of graphics. But take a look at Mario Odyssey! I've never seen a cartoon game with that geometry on a PS360 console.
And Mario runs at 900p 60fps dude!
Can you imagine a game with Tears of The Kingdom scope running on a PS3? maybe Skyrim, but Skyrim is so minimalist in general if compared with ZELDA.
Remeber all those Assassin's Creed remastered running on Switch, better than running on PS360...
anyway..

That tech don't look all that attractive to me, I dont mind after BotW/TotK they go for different artstyle but just not this one.
yeah, but I think the next Switch will be able to run something better than that tech demo.
maybe more geometry and textures than that, but with the same art, but if they will choose for an open world story or linear, I don't really know

Or alien isolation which has cleaner image quality than the ps4 version, but regardless switch 2 will likely be comparable to a ps4 portable and a ps4pro docked, plus with newer tech bonus, and as long as they don't cheap out on ram and keep 720 p portable 1080p docked upscaled by dlss to 4k, the switch 2 will be the closest nintendo has been to sony and ms in terms of power nearly 20 years

High expectations. Now, we have dreams of a Nintendo flagship AAA franchise looking as good as a several years old, by that time, indie game on PlayStation.
you cute, I can't imagine a new console to be worse than the last console... I know PS5 and Series are getting problems about developing games or so. But taking the same concept of a Tablet Console, but with 3x or 4x more power, better joy con, better screen, and the same good NINTENDO franchise, is the recipe to success again.
NINTNENDO always prepare something big for the launching consoles, and we're not wondering what old franchise will be ressurected this time. Donkey Kong?
Well, I feel more confortable wondering what NINTENDO will do, than using my imagination about SONY and MICROSOFT...
Like, more power, more games, old franchise again, new dashboard, meybe some Gamerscore System, like Playstation and Xbox. Maybe more multiplataform games, cause with more power they will put some regular industry games.
I can't imagine something bad for next NINTENDO console, but if they change the hybird Switch concept to a regular Table Console like PS5, well... That wouldn't be a good idea :messenger_downcast_sweat:

The arts is impresssivle yes much better than Kena art looks like it was made by college film students please never touch Zelda withs that

Switch might have crud technical power buts they hides it with booootyful art in Zelda

Might want to get your eyes checked, because your bootyful zelda is getting outworked by a collage student film lol.

Maybe come with screenshots that don't look like pixelated trash?

It won't, Nintendo doesn't want to build machines with this kind of performance envelope. Needs to turn a profit on every unit sold, needs to be cheap for the families. Oh and they seem to hate creating high resolution / high quality assets.

The next Zelda is probably in works for a year and half if not more, remember Tears was ready for a year and they spent a year polishing it, and I do believe they might target a 2026 release. I remember early in Breath of the Wild's development cycle Aonuma wanted to make with a stylized realistic graphics like Twilight Princess but was worried that it will take too much time, so I do believe he might go for it for the next game.

Actually it is cell shaded, if you look at games like Xenoblade 3 and Tales of Arise, those games are not cell shaded but they mostly going for ”painted” look.

Cell-shaded

OP is kinda right though, most characters, armors, etc. Are cell shaded, but the rest is not. I remember GAF complaining it looks bad but it looks delicious imo.

But hey, most people think cell shading is "cartoon or comic looking", like they literally think Borderlands is cell shaded lol, when it's literally comic looking.

For those unaware, cell shading means plain/hard shadows instead of soft ones, it emulates the style of old anime or cartoon that were literally painted on transparent sheets called cells.

I love how TOTK looks, but I'd like a change for next Zelda... Kena just looks to busy and not Zelda at all, to me BOTW and TOTK are top notch art style, they're very very balanced and we'll designed for the purpose of the game, I'll prefer how it looks to most other stuff on more powerful hardware any day, some may not realize but it's optimized to hell and back for showing an immense open world, TOTK just perfected it, it's natural vistas are just too perfect. The use of color, scale, contrast, everything is just too well measured.

If Nintendo makes a Zelda with similar aesthetic to Kena, I hope it's a smaller game like A link between worlds or Links Awakening Remake and leave their main designers do some magic on their main games

Will probably look closer to Knack.

are those actually meant to be.... impressive?
They're meant to look beautiful, if you want to get impressed with just rendering technology, check Unity and Unreal tech demos. More realistic or movie looking is not better for everyone.

You should worry less about how the next Zelda will look and worry more about who’s taking over as director. If Aonuma retires there will be an immense amount of pressure on the next guy to outdo his magnum opus.

Edit: Before quoting this to correct me, read the post below mine 👍

Twilight Princess is the last game Aonuma directed, he is the general producer of the Legend of Zelda series the last three games were actually directed by Hidemaro Fujibayashi who has been working on the series since Oracle of Ages/Seasons, I imagine he will take over when Aonuma retires realistically after the next title, in my opinion Zelda is going to be in good hands.

Cheap for families?
Nintendo is only interested in making a lot of money by selling outdated hardware for a lot of money since the Wii.

Thats how it was with most anime, the background was hand painted, while characters were cell shaded.

He's already not the director, he just produces now. Fujibayashi directed BOTW and TOTK (and SS, but let's not think too much about that....), and will most likely take over full series responsibility after Aonuma. It's in good hands.

I guess dreaming is free of charge.

It would be already a big step up if their next game is gonna be able to run at 60 fps or at least maintain locked 30 fps.

Please no more cel shading crap, sick of it.

Who am I kidding, more cel shading zelda games coming soon, Nintendo will never change.

More trippy next time. Going from a Ghibli style, to something like Dali or Van Gough.

That's closer to what they already did in SS. Of course it could be done better on more powerful hardware, but nah, the current style is much better.

You are spot on. It's so obvious to me that Kena looks and play like a modern Zelda Ocarina of time. So odd that very few reviewers (or none) made the connection. Some made the connection to PS2 gaming, I mean why, not one game looks and play like Kena on PS2. Kena first source of inspiration is Zelda OOT.

Rather than looks they should focus on the gameplay/setting/combat/enemies. Less boring shrines and such, go back to the well thought out Temples/Dungeons of earlier games. Move away from the boring Ganon/Zelda/Link template…Better combat encounters, more abilities or maneuvers, just make combat deeper. More enemy variety because BotW and TotK is insultingly limited.
Graphics, stick with TotK style, just work on everything else, higher res, better framerate, better LOD and texture quality etc.

I understand wanting more full-fledged dungeons rather than shrines, but that would mean a very empty world, because they probably can't do both. The great thing about BOTW and TOTK is that there's stuff to find pretty much everywhere. And I don't think they're going back to much smaller worlds after the enormous success of the last two games.

I hope it will look like this:

Look at those 360p resolution textures, generic cliffs and volcanoes. Even vanilla WoW has better textures than that holy fuck. Zelda might be one of the best in gameplay/mechanics but technically and visually its a piece of shit. Only blind fans would say otherwise.
Lol. You are blind my friend. WoW looks like generic shit compared to Zelda where everything is interactive and have a purpose. In other games graphics are just decorations.

Nintendo made this mostly for marketing. Same with Twilight. They never really wanted to make a "realistic" design

Even fucking Ocarina and Majora's are basically cartoons

They will change if isn't another BotW sequel, but there's a big chance that is closer to what is now than Twlight
