Yeah console-only fanboys are the worst, they just go from exclusive to exclusive complaining and exaggerating. Just plain toxic behaviour. They can literally spend a weekend just argueing about stuff they don’t like or dig out new bugs or whatever in a game they have already dropped instead of spending the weekend playing and talking about a game they actually like. If a game goes multi the noise usually goes away. Unless there is a 1fps difference then the noise will be about that instead… 🤦‍♂️

You know what’s even worse than console fanboys. Disingenuous people, like yourself. Who likes to parade around pretending to be neutral a.k.a ”I play on everything” but always exposes themselves in the end to favour one side over the other.

Pretending that PS players are the only gamers that are hating on this game while everyone else loves it is a prime example of hypocrisy. It’s like you a ”PC gamer” never saw the ”glowing” reviews on steam. Or you somehow missed all those GAF user who actually played the game and didn’t enjoy it for any legitimate reason.. they don’t exist.
No no only console fanboys hate my precious game that i put hundreds of hours into. Who are you trying to fool? Yourself or someone else?

Keep patting eachorthers backs, no one will notice. Carry on, pretend i didn’t see your pathetic post 🤫

I got the 4 infront of my age myself and this nonsense is beyond me. In the 80s/early 90s people in school had a Nintendo or a SEGA or PS1 or a Game Boy/Game Gear. Mid 90s most went for a Pc. I have never ever seen someone fighting over the platform. We all were just talking about the games. I have no idea at what sad point in your life you become a console warrior. But it is what it is, the ignore list helps.
I grew up with only having Commodore computers and once I started with consoles I bought one console and stuck with that during a generation, that triggered some bad behaviour.

But that was a long time ago now, today I make sure to have all consoles and a decent PC to not limit my enjoyment. I still have preferences, like I prefer MS exclusives simply because they aren’t delayed on PC where I do most of my gaming today.

However, what I see now is people with all consoles still behaving like they only own one. The negativity toward any exclusive on a less preferred platform is always exaggerated. That’s why I think it’s more like a sport fan behaviour, a competition between teams, rather than not actually having a way to get access to platform exclusive games like it was for some of us in the past.

Idk, to me that’s just plain weird.

Lulz. What did Xbox release this year, four first party titles including Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III? All of which, IIRC, were released by publishers Microsoft acquired rather than actually built in-house. For Starfield not to have been the best Xbox game of 2023 would have been a tremendous embarrassment for everyone at Xbox and Bethesda.

A bit clueless, but is ok 👍

How so?

You can choose to role play a whole variety of characters, get married/divorced, buy a house and decorate it with cool stuff from all over galaxy.

If you are interested in combat, again ton to progression that feeds into weapon crafting, ship building etc.

There is ton of stuff to do if you find this interesting. Personally I find it very compelling.

All of these are marred by extremely lame characters, dialogue, narrative writing, cinematics, etc. it’s all dull beyond belief and gives no real authentic sense of role playing.

The combat isn’t fun, the weapons/melee are completely unbalanced and half baked.

That Conan skit where he plays Starfield is pretty on point. I guess it’s a case where some people like it due to how comically cringe it is, like is that actually part of the appeal for many?

Preferring one thing over another is normal, I prefer pizza over hamburgers too, and metal over pop. What’s less normal is hating one thing over another for brand lotalty. That’s fanboyism. And nope that’s not me. And as said above I definitely prefer MS exclusives today over Sony exclusives simply because their games aren’t delayed on PC. Unreasonable? I don’t think so. And I never pretend anything, sorry, go fight someone else who actually care about the plastics and don’t wish they all go away.

Game is a lot of fun. Can't people get over this simple fact ? Nobody cares if the game pushes the open world formula, or even if it has some issues, if the overall experience is that playing it is fun.

You would think people who have been hating on Starfield for several thousand pages would have had enough by now but nope, gotta keep the op running.

Look at the amount of people trying to argue the opinions of others, it’s pathetic.

Personally I’ve finished Starfield twice, or three times if you count NG+. It’s a really good game with some flaws, that takes a long time to get into. But once you get into it it’s amazing and by far the best space game ever created.

It's a flawed but solid game experience with a make your own fun type deal. What frustrates me about xbox is the difference between what releases and what could have been with these games. Starfield really could have done with some shared teams, I'd like to see Xbox leverage studio collab more e.g. FPS mechanics of say Apex combined with RPG of starfield etc.

Congrats. I have a lot of love for Hi-Fi Rush, it is my second favourite game of the year with amazing gameplay and even more amazing mix of story, humour and heart, but Starfield is one of a kind. I'm yet to play BG3 which I can't wait to sink my teeth into sometime in December, but nothing comes to close to Starfield in terms of sucking you into that world and not letting you go.

It's my front runner for GOTY, and easily my favorite sci-fi game of all time.

Discussion on here is just like Halo Infinite where people may be able to find a flaw or two, but that very quickly gets turned into "the game has zero redeeming qualities and you're a complete joke if you even like it." It's literally not more intellectually deep than peer pressure bullying from elementary school. It's fine if you don't like it, but you have zero claim on any kind of objective opinion. I think the game's phenomenal in countless areas, from art design, graphics, quest design, voice acting, to gunplay. It has by far my OST of the year and I can post 30 tracks as examples.

It's literally one of the best looking games I've ever seen. The scale is unlike anything I've played. That ship I zoomed in on in this picture is 3 stories tall, and you can walk around all of it. The scale of the space station next to it is just gigantic. And I have limitless examples of stuff like that.

JfYog3P.png

JfIwegs.png

This isn't even one of the big cities. The scale is just gigantic when you look at how small the people are. It's difficult to even take pictures of it. And there's layers underneath that, multiple shops, quests, NPCs. I've just literally never even seen a game like this.

JJzIKrb.png

I don't really encounter any areas in games this large, and all the assets are extremely highly detailed.

JJLrQQR.png

The lighting is phenomenal, and a giant upgrade over anything they've done previously - extending to even lighting the planets themselves. And they change completely over time, or depending on where you land on the planet and where it is orbiting the sun.

And a lot of the people claiming Hi-Fi Rush was robbed were actually the same people massively talking shit on Hi-Fi Rush in January when I said it was a GOTY contender. It absolutely is still a GOTY contender, but I think Starfield is a lot more ambitious and impressive, and I am literally one of the biggest advocates for Hi-Fi Rush on here, and I got shit constantly for hyping that game up too.

Several of the quests are among the best I've ever played in an RPG, like Entangled, or the multi-part Crimson Fleet quest. Even basic side quests have 3-4 parts to it and are surprisingly deep.

I will never change the minds of people that hate the game, and that's not even my goal. But if you guys can't even fathom that this is at the top of consideration for BEST XBOX GAME this year, then you guys are just lying or trolls in my opinion. If you have eyeballs you can see it's an incredibly impressive and ambitious game. It doesn't even take an argument to refute the bullshit. It's self-evidently absurd and exaggerated to the max.

Just look at the game with your actual eyes instead of being morons. And my pictures are just capturing a tiny, tiny fraction of the game. I'm still playing it and I'm at 315 hours.

Starfield beating out Hi-Fi Rush is a joke in itself. Beating other games like D4, Sea of Stars, AC 6, RE 4, Alan Wake 2, Hogwart's, or Jedi feels like a pity trophy. The only category it should win is Disappointment of the Generation. I'm gonna feel bad for the Hi-Fi team who is gonna watch their gem of a game get beaten out by Turd Howard's undercooked slop.

Are the girls behind the hippos?

I feel this picture should be used to market a carpenter's craftsmanship.....show the fucking support from the deck bruh!

Again, trying to discuss this game with you feels like discussing Call of Duty with someone who doesn't like FPS games.

Most of the characters are clean slate with minimalist dialogue. That's preferable if you wanna role play.

Comparing to something like Witcher 3 where everyone's personality is set, including you.

In some cases, absolutely, different taste and all that. But when it’s said to be some 5/10 worst AAA release in recent times or whatever as some kind of fact I just roll my eyes and keep scrolling down to read opinions from people not attempting to troll or start time-wasting discussions.

Btw, I liked Hi-Fi Rush too, apparently for 2 hours according to my playtime counter. Thought I had played it more but can’t prove it so.
The shadow drop to Gamepass was cool but in the end it wasn’t my type of game. I wouldn’t rate it low though, I can still see why it’s loved, tight gameplay mechanics and great visuals and design, unique too. But again, not for me.

I'm surprised it wasnt pentiment or kingdom crusaders 3. Didn't both these game get like 10s across the board when released from like most review outlets.

Just in time for Starfield player numbers to drop below Skyrim on steam. 21.2k on Skyrim/SSE and 20.8k on starfield. We reached the crossover point.

A third party game definitely should have won this. RE4, Hogwarts... There must be some more deserving too. But first party wise there weren't really any other options. Hifi rush too small and mostly forgotten to win an award like this.

Totally, funny how there are hardly any multiplatform games in the XBox list but the PS5 list is only multiplatform games (not sure when their cut off is but to not put Spider Man 2 in the PS5 game of the year list is just weird, unless I read it wrong)

What could they have listed for PS besides baseball and Spider-Man 2? PS had a slow year.

Anyway, very deserved since there is no BG3 on Xbox yet. Also, wow, seems the GAF hate boner for Starfield is still a rock hard four inches. Sad 😆

Isn't that the case with 99% of the games? I agree, Starfield is no GOTY material and will probably not even win top 5 most awards, but it's still a good game with lots of time to spend in. People just expected much more, but that's their own mistake. I never expected a 94+ game and so i'm not disappointed.

I don't consider it the general public's "mistake" to believe Bethesda's hype. The previous Elder Scrolls games were insanely good.

It's just the Spider Man 2 not being included when it's in the game of the year category. Anyway, they partially explain it on their website, it missed the cut off by not being reviewed/launched when they added the nominees for that category.

As for the XBox nominees list, there are far better games (such as RE4) than the ones in their list. As for Starfield, I found it seriously boring, not a even close to game of the year for me.

Starfield is immersive and amazing. Such big cities. So much to do. And it looks gorgeous. Just look at an example of a night club vs that old Cyberpunk 2077 game.

Starfield was fantastic, don't think it deserves GOTY with Zelda and BG3 in the mix, but I've already got over 150 hours on the game.

This game will definitely have a decade-long tail once people get their hands on the Creation Kit

the meaningfull "hate" aka actual criticism is coming from Bethesda fans/people not in console warz at all.

People are coping so hard for this game that is not even funny and everybody knows it
No one is coping. Lol. Starfield is a huge success on many levels. It will continue to sell and be played long after most games this year. Pretending it isn't just for reasons, is more like coping. Keep it a 1000 bro. Seriously.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
This list isn't correct. According to the list, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was a nominee, but the game was released after their cutoff.
