Future Insomniac games leaked

Anyone who was expecting Wolverine in 2024 was just kidding themselves. Though I am surprised it's 2026. Crazy to think GTA6 will be out before it.

I see people now complaining that Insomniac is only doing Marvel superhero titles and I understand the frustration to a degree. But this is the single player equivalent of EA securing contracts to develop games for major league sports. Blue chip IPs beloved by the masses is a certified cash cow. Especially crucial during this time period when Sony is having difficulty finding success with GAAS.

Now back to this insane leak: Largest in gaming history at this point, right?

This, GTA 6, and Nvidia are just to be shuffled in someone’s top 3 but those are THE top 3 now

Too much Marvel for me.

They'll probably do the same/similar gameplay to Spiderman/Batman games and that alone will get boring so quick.

Insomniac have a lot of good talent but seem to be relegated to being a Marvel pump and dump.

They're copying God Of War 2018 with Wolverine.

I was expecting them working on Venom and Spider-Man 3, but I'm surprised to see an X-Men game here. Either way, it's kinda a shame that Insomniac's almost entire 2020s plans are dedicated to Marvel games.

That being said, I'm glad to see another Ratchet & Clank game though. I had some gripes with Rift Apart, but overall it was a good game

Fucking hell, they're gonna reuse the same NYC map for a fourth time, won't they?

I was so sure a Resistance revival would be coming in the near future so this is disappointing tbh. Resistance is what PS needs

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Apparently Guerrilla Games stuff is slowly leaking out too 👀

You want to have a "PlayStation Showcase" and not announce a single first party game, skip all game shows, show up at TGA with a fucking free DLC, remain secretive as fuck, and expect me to be hyped about 12 live service games, then FOH, leak it all

I'm actually fine with Insomniac just doing licensed content, ratchet is pretty but boring as hell, sunset overdrive sucked ass, resistance was good but clearly sony don't give a shit about it and I doubt Insomniac can even make a shooter anymore. Creating IPs is not their strength and that's ok.

My main problem is I don't really enjoy Spidermans cast of characters so I'm hoping Wolverine's are better. Oh and that Venom ditches harry the little bitch in the standalone game.

I found this post on Reddit (Lord forgive me...)

New IP in 2030s is interesting. Does that mean the Marvel license only extends that far and from then on Insomniac is doing their own thing or is this incomplete depending on license renewal.

EDIT: Oh wow, they are totally expecting to not do Marvel ten years from now. A team allocation slide has leaked and there is a small team dedicated to "Ratchet / New IP group to prepare for post Spider-Man era."

Venom team is around same size as the SM2 team in its final year of development. Wolverine team is twice the size as the SM2 in its final year of development, and the SM3 team will be as big as the Wolverine team.

EDIT 2: The multiplayer project Insomniac was working on was a Spider-Man game called The Great Web, which would be like GTA Online (in other words a live service co-op experience updated with new campaigns). It was cancelled. So, unless that team got put on new multiplayer duties (X-Men?) then it means that's another PS studio whose live service project was canned.

EDIT 3: Those clamouring for Ratchet, Rift Apart lost money, so that's why it won't be back anytime soon. Just be glad it's even coming back at all in 2029.
Basically, they're not becoming a Marvel factory forever, the GAAS project was canned and Rift Apart lost money, so that's why they're taking their time with the next Ratchet & Clank game.
