They're bigger fools than anyone could have guessed, then. This game will sell less than any other game released in the same month, I would bet. In fact, I would take this opportunity to urge people NOT to buy Xenoblade at GameStop, because fuck them.

lol

I can understand people who "imported" it not getting it again, but urging people to just avoid buying the game altogether? Fucking tools.

I guess I may order from nintendo, though it's not like i really hate gamestop. preorders from nintendo start 19/12/11....darn.

I don't but after all that Operation Rainfall commotion it's going to have to sell that much to convince Nintendo they did the right thing.

Doubtful. NoA knows what they are getting into by localizing the game, as long as it sells enough to make back localization costs I assume they would be fine with it.

Now that was a thoughtful reply. Thank you for your contribution, I don't know how we lived without it.

I can see we're just full of winners here!

Look, since this is apparently hard for the two of you two grasp: I don't like how Nintendo of America treated their fans over these and other major releases that should've been guaranteed for the US to start with. And I wouldn't be surprised if this was a GS exclusive because it might end up being a straight, no redub, no rewording for US audiences release of the UK version, just region-coded for the US. Released with extremely little fanfare, effectively sent to die. There's no guarantee that's what's going to happen, maybe they will put their full marketing backbone behind it, but somehow I'm hesitant to believe it.

It's nice it's finally coming. It's shitty how long it took, and how they treated the people asking about it. And we've yet to see just how well they'll support it.

Perhaps for someone who is a regular modder, but for a regular joe who has never modded anything, it is not possible to do it in 25 minutes even with downloading. That's just not true.

Maybe whatever method you've used is faster, but if you use the USB Loader, HBC, etc. that is outlined in the Wii for Dummies walkthrough, it takes at least 2-3 minutes til the game starts from booting up.

I also used the Wii Homebrew for Dummies Walkthrough and it still didn't take anywhere close to an hour even when getting everything the Walkthrough asks for, including optional stuff. And the beauty of Wii Modding is that it doesn't take someone who his familiar with the modding process to do in an expedient matter (and it takes much less effort to mod than a PSP, and is much less risk prone than modding a PS2 or XBox; it is literally just hitting Y for Yes Prompts). I'm just not fathoming how it could take anything over half an hour to do unless one would take longer break periods in between each segment.

Now as for 2-3 minutes until the game starts from booting up, that definitely must be a difference in Wii models, because GekkoOS (at least for me) takes 5-10 seconds to boot up Xenoblade, which is still a dual-layered disc).

Edit: Oh man, that "Suggested Games" list on the Nintendo Site...

If this is real, then I'll be picking it up along with my Wii U next year as well as Zelda Skyward Sword.

The Wii would literally have to drop to $99.99, because at this point there's no reason for me to invest in a new Wii console just for 2 games, but I'm all aboard the Wii U. :)

That's what people want. IT'S ALREADY BEEN LOCALIZED. WHY WOULD THEY DO IT AGAIN?

I sincerely hope this does well for them, but if my own actions are any indication, I'm worried that a significant percentage of those that were interested may have already imported.

I'm always very happy to wait for the localization of a game I want, no matter how long it takes. But when there was ZERO indication this was going to be brought over, I went ahead and imported.

I feel bad that I won't be supporting their efforts by buying a localized copy, but I also don't feel at fault for it.

I'd tinkered with PSP homebrew before modding my Wii, but never really got very far and ditched it pretty quick.

It really does take no time at all to mod a Wii. Seriously.

Download a few files and put them in the right place on an SD card. Open a message on the Wii message board. Install HBC from the menu, bam, modded. Put Gecko on the SD card, bam, region free.

Weird question, but is this "Buy GAMES direct from Nintendo" new? Because I'd probably do that for all my Nintendo games in the future.

I bought a few games from them through Nintendo Power deals.

IGN: Why has Nintendo decided to release Xenoblade in the U.S. now ?

Reggie: We're passionate about gaming and we listen to our fanbase.

IGN: Was it really because of the backlash from Operation Rainfall ?

Reggie: Yes. I received too many death threats.

Why do you care so much about the "fanfare" it gets and whether it will be "supported"? Just enjoy the game. This is not the kind of game that any company would be putting a big marketing effort behind in 2011, I wouldn't have so much bitterness over a perfectly understandable business decision. It's not like this game would have been some massive hit with a couple of commercials and started some groundswell of new JRPG development.

...

Considering we got a whole 2 games this year from them, and Wii U is coming out next year...

This was a zelda holiday and a 3DS onslaught. Financially, they didnt need it at all.

Next year is when we will start seeing all these japanese DS and Wii games they held out on because all the internal teams have moved on.

Considering its not coming out till next year, I would hope they are fixing dialouge and VA to match with American english. It's not a big deal, but I think they should.

What are the chances we're getting a new dub?

I loved most of the english one, but if I'm going to buy the game twice, might as well have some differences...

Hmm. Order from GameStop and get it the day of release or order from Nintendo and not have to spend any money in GameStop. I waited this long I guess I can wait a few days after the official US release to get it in the mail. Unless Nintendo tries to get it out in time to arrive that Saturday or Monday.

Nintendo also says NORTH AMERICA, not U.S. So it's not US only.

Us Canadian are not left behind!

All right I feel better and am not as pissed at the incredulous negative comments in here now. Ahem. So, do you guys think that if this one does pretty well, maybe they're be more happy with the idea of bringing Gooch's game over, too?

Nice to see you can order it directly from their site, too.
