So it looks like the game is actually called "The Last of Us". Don't know if I like it, but whatever, I want to see what the game looks like!

If this game is a separate entity to 'Until Dawn' then awesome.

Shu did just retweet an IGN article about The Last of Us.

I am confused a bit. "Until Dawn" is supposed to be that flashlight move game, correct?

I as well hope this is something bigger then that.

Besides wasn't flashlight move game being developed by one of UK studios?

TLOU is trademarked by SCEA.

Well, it has never been said that Until Dawn was the flashlight game. That was a connection I made and put out on the webs by our very own TTP. Twas rumoured to be a Studio Cambridge game.

I wonder where all these fucking games are being made. Santa Monica seems to be overseeing more or less every PS3 game out next year:

Sorcery
StarHawk
PlayStation Battle Opera
Journey
Twisted Metal
Rumoured GOW IV

Madness. And they are "only" 200 people. not 500

That was very well known for years now. They shifted their "headquarter" from Foster City to Santa Monica. Santa Monica is now "SCEA's gaming headquarter".
They're overseeing everything now.

yup and and Papa & Yo. Must be amazing to be working for SSM.

Whoever took over John Hight's position as director of product development at Santa Monica Studios must have a massive job on their hands.

Of course, but its really uncommon for one studio to have a hand in so many games coming out in one year. The place must be abuzz with awesome sauce.

Year of Sony Santa Monica.

it's interesting that no one is noticing this actually (talking about gaming media). They are still known as GOW studio and that's it

I seem to remember a farming simulator releasing quite near the top of one of the EU countries charts at some point. It got a good chuckle out of me. Might have been France.

Wasn't there some train simulator or something equally boring that also sold fairly well in.. Germany, I think? :lol

The anti-Move crowd are an odd bunch, I haven't got one yet, don't know if I will but the double consensus seems to be that:

a) Move sucks and Sony better not make any decent games Move only
b) I'll only get a Move if it has any decent Move exclusive games!

So Which one is it and how can Sony possible win with the Move?

I wouldn't mind this being a high production values Move exclusive survival horror/adventure game.

Sony's actions doesn't matter. Fanboy trolls always will complain.
Most of the ones who complain about being (possibly) a zombie game would be happy if it was a 360 exclusive L4D4 (or a Wii/3DS exclusive big RE).
And most of the ones who complain about being (possibly) a Move game would be happy if it was a Kinect (or Wii/3DS) game.

Bullshit, L4D came at the front of the Zombie revival and wasn't just using it as an excuses for piss poor AI, and acting like hardcore gamers who own 360 love Kinect while hating other waggle shit is nothing but building straw-men (as well as wholly wrong).

Well, Kinect and Move are rather different peripherals, so you are wrong as well.

Well I meant the SSM developed plants vs zombies 2 which features the god of agriculture and zombies as clearly hinted at with the teaser trailer and ant video...

And it would be awesome!:)

I don't know why but I have a feeling that the teaser is not going to relate to whatever the game is.

Like I say, just a feeling.....

The Move itself works very well, it's that damn camera which is the problem.

I don't think its the camera, I posted a link in another thread about some eyewriter software some people are working on which allows people with ALS to write on a computer using motion cameras that record their eye and eyelid movement. The camera they used was the PlayStation eye camera, they said they chose it because it was the cheapest high end motion camera. (of course this is pre kinect and the kinect camera works probably better for the same use but it shows that the playstation camera is no slouch) There was also a 2007 japan news report that showed the same playstation camera doing all the stuff you see on kinect hooked up to a computer doing face recognition and head tracking allowing you to put on different masks...

It's sony's lack of software tools that's the problem. In typical sony fashion, they just built the hardware and expected the rest of the world to figure out the software for them. They need a software strategy early on to help push the hardware better, just like the ps3 and other sony devices. I still wonder why we are not seeing tools, games and other uses for the move like we did on the engadget show or even the e3 stage demo where ogres and skeletons were coming at you and you role played an archer or warrior and hacked or shot at incoming mobs.

People wanted that instead we got socom 4 which no one wanted to be move enabled.

Its also a little hate.

People hated sixaxis but I hear people getting excited about a hopeful kinect reacting to left right down up etc 360 controller motions, sooooo.... sixaxis?

Or how everyone hated motion gaming when sony announced eyedentify but raves over kinect doing it.

Sony needs a strong internal software division to work on tools instead of waiting for someone to do it years after the hardware is released.

My point is that if done right and with a large enough budget, a move/kinect only game would and could work.

I'd love to see a first or third person military rpg off of kinect/move, less about kill counts and such but more about taking cover, reaction to how fast or slow we react under pressure from gunfire and such..

Like it or not motion everything is here to stay. I think it was either sony or apple, i think it may have been apple that submitted a patent a while ago to add a motion camera to each corner of a television, and it wasn't necessarily for gaming. I think it was just for controlling menus and maybe some mini games.

Actually the PSeye still has the best camera features (as in resolution, framerate and IQ) ; kinect adds a lot of new things (depth measurement and complex microphones) but the camera it includes is rather generic.

I swear the day HL3 is gonna be announced the internet is gonna implode.

An inter-dimensional portal will open in each computer screen on the planet, sucking anything close to it.

Yeah, the camera isn't really the problem but rather the USB cable that is connected to it. The light camera is affected by the wire and it won't stand still, resulting in loss of synchronization.

I must be super jaded because I want this to actually be a surprise. I'm going to sit this thread out before GAF figures it out 2 days before the actual reveal.

Beware The Ants: An In Depth Theory About Sony's New Exclusive "The Last Of Us"

Some crazy idea on what the game might be, interesting read, and it may not be a zombie game at all.

I had the same idea about the main character being the infected but I don't think the game will be about you trying to infect other people. it'd be a cool plot for a movie, but I don't know how it will translate into a game mechanic

the objective most likely be more clear and simple like trying to find cure or something, although it will probably have some mind control scenario like you seeing hallucination to certain direction, which is the fungus way trying to control your action.

Games like Guerilla's new IP, God of War IV, Quantic Dream's new game, etc. are probably going to be shown at E3. That doesn't change the fact that this is a pleasant surprise and I'm glad that Santa Monica has some sort of attachment to it.
