CNET: Wii U to be at CES

Nintendo is bringing the Wii U to CES and I'll be getting more hands-on with the tablet-console hybrid to build on my impressions from E3 2011. Nintendo has historically skipped over CES, but it's great to hear the company will have a presence there in 2012.

BOOM

Note: CES starts January 10

UPDATE

Nintendo of America, working with the 2012 International CES management, will offer demos of the upcoming Wii U console to members of the media who did not see the system at the 2011 E3 Expo. However, Nintendo will not have a booth at CES, nor does it plan to include any games, experiences or information beyond what was available at the 2011 E3 Expo. Production and development efforts remain on track for the Wii U launch, which will take place between the start of the 2012 E3 Expo in June, and the end of 2012."

Some people will over hype this out of pure desperation for Wii-U info of any kind and be horribly disappointed no matter what happens.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
The Wii U will be at CES. At behind closed door demos like the 3DS was last year.

Nintendo hasn't had a booth at CES since..... fuck knows.

Techincal showcase please. No more concepts with Miis.
Those were technical showcases showing what the hardware can do. They had one showing the graphic quality (the bird demo) and a few showing what the controller was capable of.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the Mii demos were real games in development, especially New Super Mario Bros. Mii. One of Nintendo's most popular recent titles, updated for the new console? It's practically a given.

watch people hype this up to the point where they think nintendo will show off the wii u versions of all of their franchises.

Well its either CES or a Nintendo event...I mean if the console really is coming out this summer/before the holidays, they really have to start showing off the hardware and games in a more substantial way. E3 would be too late for an official unveiling, but that's my two cents.

Microsoft heat? Maybe so.

Maturity, bitches.
He typed out all those words and yet failed to provide the most vital piece of information; a date. One should never assume the reader knows anything going in.

Could make a nice birthday surprise if they do announce it since they both coincide. Then again nothing interesting has ever happened on my Birthday ever (except my birth and the first episode of Hidamari Sketch).

I just hope they actually show some games and not just tech demos and video footage of what they hope games will look like.

I'll be very surprised if anything of real value comes out of CES. They've been extremely quiet about the Wii U since E3 and I don't see much changing until E3 next year. Still, here's to hoping.

Do they really wanna do a back-to-back reveal with the new Xbox ? They should've stuck with E3 imo, where they the spotlight to themselves.

Is the Wii U speculation thread being shut down?

Isn't CES always a non-event for anything vaguely game related?
