I'm pretty sure they said that they literally had no more room on the disc for the other maps and they'd have to go 2 disc if they did, then they would have had to increase the cost. I would have been OK with that, but they had to make a choice. $60 for a remake would have been unjustifiable for many people. I feel they made the right choice. If you paid damn attention you'd have all the maps. Its not really 343's fault I don't think. Though I do also understand the other side of it.

I don't think ODST was 60$ because it was two discs. There's also the fact that they spent all this time hyping up the Halo 1 pistol gametype for marketing purposes and then didn't include it on the disc for space reasons. When you've run out of space on a DVD for a 102KB gametype, mayhaps it's the time to change the SKU to a two-disc release.

In the end, Microsoft chose to favor saving 2$ from printing a single disc instead of favoring the Reach playerbase.

As Halo has gone on, the DLC releases have gotten more and more pro-shareholder and less and less pro-userbase. Halo 2 was the best for the playerbase, free maps after a while and a reinstallable disc. Mythic was a pretty ideal compromise, with all the maps on a single disc. And you could use Mythic to cheaply set up a LAN with all DLC, and the disc allowed Core users to finally enjoy the entire Halo 3 map selection. But people on the vanilla disc did eventually at least get permanently discounted maps (Legendary costs as much as an RB song).

With Reach, we've gotten DLC releases that are still the same price a year later, a title update that not only split the online userbase but split LAN, and you're either going to be lanning with the disc maps or just the Anniversary maps, unless you've got enough money to rig up all your LAN 360s with storage devices and DLC purchases. Like I said before, Halo Wars' DLC support was VERY.. I'm looking for the word.. corporate. It's DLC is still both 10$ two years later.

Now that MS will have complete control over 4, I see nothing to indicate to the contrary that Halo 4's post-launch support will favor keeping the community intact over making the shareholders 5 more bucks. Even the TU does this, with a DLC gated gametype and more bandwidth usage for ATLAS to help sell Windows Phone 7 phones.

Blah.

Snipes and swat is far from vanilla same with living dead! (although I understand your simply comparing TU playlists with none TU playlists stuff like living dead/ grifball/ snipes and swat will probably never have the tu applied to them but they are from from vanilla )

Okay, what.

The vanilla variants of Sword Base etc et al are still in Living Dead alongside the new and improved community variants of them.

Sounds akin to the scenario where Paradiso is still alive and well in BTB despite them adding Utopie previously. Makes no sense in the end.

Cool didn't realize that. Fixed.

You know, it sure would be great if there was anything int he UI, in the playlist description text perhaps indicating what sort of gametypes each playlist uses.
Oh, I agree absolutely. I think Reach and also H3 failed at being descriptive in this case. And for the wait time going into the game of whatever it may be, it needs to detail what the settings are. It is lackluster as is.

Caged/Uncaged. Then again, they should have deleted that map instead of trying to fix it.

The Cage only exists in Living Dead, Bungie deleted it from the entirety of the rest of matchmaking. And it's still there, complete with non of the softkills to keep people from getting on top of the map or on the bottom of it as of this update.

edit: people are bitching that they can't escape the map on this Bedlam game :lol

Ehh, that's a shady excuse. And an extra disc shouldn't cost $20. I could see $45 perhaps, but $60 for two discs of barely new content would have been absurd.

Edit : And yeah, Blamite, I totally agree. If Squad DLC was using TU settings it'd be my main playlist.

Right, but adding those maps is also more content which would raise the cost. Maybe it wouldn't raise it to a full $60 but still raise it more than they wanted since they wanted to keep it at the $40 price point. Maybe too us the content isn't new, and we have it but too some it is, and it probably hasn't been out long enough for them to justify "giving it away". I mean, they are a business and selling content is how they make money. I wish I could remember where, but I am fairly certain it was Frankie who said this either in an interview or even on GAF. Perhaps he could confirm.

Again though, I wish it had been 2 discs with all content like Mythic and I would have paid $60 for it. I'm just trying to think about it from their point of view and I can't really fault them. I'm also just repeating what was said. Perhaps I'll google around for that.

I like to read posts too.

I read it, then reread it after this. Your point?

It wasn't mentioned in the update and it's also not mentioned in the playlist information in game, but apparently Doubles requires all DLC now.

Squad DLC shows how much I hate Vanilla Reach. Bloom is sometimes too unpredictable. It's friggin annoying. Especially after we played TU Reach. So much better. Did we say thanks to 343i already for 85% and especially Zero-Bloom? If not, thanks so much for it.

Still don't get it why there are no Objective Gametypes in Squad DLC...

Wow is it really only Slayer?

I have absolutely no reason to go into there now.

According to Jeremiah, even optional objective drops the population of a list. Something about statistics showing that on average, once a person that wants to play Slayer gets Objective two times, they'll quit and never come back to the playlist.

They're trying to give it optimal population by making it Slayer only. I tried it a bit earlier, and nothing much to write home about except "Slayer on DLC maps". I'm starting to wonder how many Slayer-only lists Reach can support. It's disappointing that we don't get Objective in it but them's the breaks with the Halo playerbase.

Squad DLC is basically Team Slayer with DLC maps. As if it wasn't predictable enough.

Of course it counts, and I hope you're ready for an onslaught of my work again, I was spartanx5 if you don't remember. It's been a few years, but after years of firefighting, some college to supplement, and certain events, I'm coming back to art for good.
Looking forward to it. ;)

It's interesting to see the reactions to the community maps in-game. I actually tried to ask people for feedback in real time and one called me a fag because I was "killing him while he was trying to check out the new map."

I also was finally able to get a game on Uncongealed. You spend so much time observing people and looking to see if they get stuck/glitched somewhere that you really can't play too well. Also, it appears I nerfed the top middle so hard that people are favoring the corners now. Also interesting that they deleted the filter off my map but not the others, Uncaged must be borderline performance for 4 player split if the filter pushed it over for their tests.

Nice. How's the playlist look so far? Have you tried any of the new LD maps?

Will try them tonight after some BTB matches.

Also, your avatar... no me gusta.

Christwire Halo Review

Setting: Massive structures of fascist design dot dangerous Asiatic landscapes. The hyper-real graphics are drawn with jarring fluorescent colors. This future world is on the cusp of the ultimate judgment, reminiscent of Biblical End Times. There is no grey area here. You’re either lock step with Master Chief’s agenda of anarchy or you die.

Satire indeed.

Reach 1.0 on DLC maps, thank the maker!

I really hope they inject that playlist with the TU settings. :p It would be nice to at least have the option to play TU settings on the dlc maps.

Barring that just throw the other DLC maps into the anniversary playlist, I would play that a whole bunch more if the map selection wasnt so tiny.
