The only people who buy those are super fans who buy all the DLC anyways.

Possibly, but I'm sure there are players who would buy this who don't have the DLC yet, or who already have it or wouldn't use it who could give it out to their friends. That's at least a few more people with DLC, at negligible cost to Microsoft.

Think I found my new home in Reach on Anniversary FFA. Went +43 my first game then got the jetpack beat-down achievement legit the following game.

I can wait till E3. Hopefully we'll get news from Bungie as well.

Really? I mean if we get to june without any news at all thats going to be crazy. Even one in game image would be enough to keep us going till a large reveal at E3 but nothing till then would seriously bug me.

Id understand if this wasnt some huge AAA game but E3 would mean that its been pretty much an entire year with little to no information since its original announcement. Id like the hype train to of started now but at the latest i want info by mid march

You're talking about a company that held back ODST from E3 2008 because they thought FF13 and You're In the Movies were more important to push.

Would anyone else be interested in a book that detailed bungie and microsofts joint venture and eventual separation?

I bet that'd make for some good readin's!

Can't see what good it would do for either company's image. In the end the split was for the best. Bungie stays Bungie and we get to look forward to more Bungie games in future and we get 343, a company of great potential formed to make Halo games.

We win.

I busted out laughing when I saw this and everyone in the room looked at me.

As for being on topic, (all this talk of low tolerance for junior members :'( ) Have we ruled out a Superbowl commercial or is that an actual possibility for a Halo 4 Reveal? Its not too far away (14 sleep units.)

I know alotta people watch the Superbowl but I feel the majority of Superbowl viewers are simply too dumb to operate an Xbox.

No offense to any of you NFL fans out there.

"Halo 4 to have regular, Ultra-super Limited Edition, and Unbelievably Incredibly Rare Pre-order only Legendary Edition* at launch."

*
Will be able to find copies of it brand new on Amazon for $39.99 6 months after launch.

"So rare, not even Bungie employees can get their hands on one".

I wish I could find that clip in one of the old Bungie podcasts. Bungie and Activision are a match made in heaven.

I don't care about pre-release info, I just want an awesome game in the Fall. I don't want developers worrying about executing marketing and PR campaigns, just put your head down and work on making the best game you can. AKA, Blizzard, Valve, Rockstar, Nintendo, you know, some of the best devs in the business.

Marketing Blitz Strategy

1. Make good game
2. Give Juices/Tashi/KyleJ/Walshy a copy early
3. Let them play 2v2s on JTV.

Preorders in the trillions.

Microsoft have the best marketing people in the industry 343 dosnt have to worry about much, rockstar are notoriously camera shy, valve do decent press stuff as do blizzard and nintendo is practically everywhere not the best examples really.

Its not like 343 have to spend months and months on PR stuff, they give some PR company employed by microsoft a small playable build and they cap some screenshots.

I haven't listened to the voice message yet.

edit: oh wow, the voice message is an open threat claiming he's going to get my console ID banned if I don't have Uncongealed removed from matchmaking. Do these people realize that Microsoft has these messages on their servers? I really need to Youtube this hilarity.

AKA,
Blizzard - Do plenty of preview and early marketing, often showing lots of the game years in advance, do big "closed" beta
Valve - do big "closed" beta
Rockstar - Yeah, I'll give you that. Shown lots of Max Payne though
Nintendo - Eh, no. Showed off gameplay of Skyward Sword when they announced it iirc

Nitpicking, most of the "pre-release" stuff that Blizzard and Valve do are to make the game better, no one focus tests more than Valve, and no one Beta tests better than Blizzard. If 343 wants to go the route of Blizzard and have 3-6 month beta's for Halo games to make them play better, go for it.

I just see all the goofy marketing that has been done for Halo games, and then look at the quality of the games, which were all disappointing compared to their predecessors, which makes me realize, I don't want to see how well you can market the game, just how well you can make it.

I dunno man, Hysteria and ElamiteWarrior got to play Reach early, and look how that game turned out.

You cant make an honest opinion on a game after a few hours with only a few good players. It takes a while with a game to know exactly what it has to offer. Watching MLG events you can see how different gameplay was between Dallas and Providence, and during that time many opinions of the game changed.

Pros going in to test games early though useful, wouldn't do much for the overall game I would think. Also the selection of pros wasn't the greatest in my opinion...

Disagree about the nitpicking, completely agree otherwise.

Exactly, Hysteria whines and complains about everything, so who can tell if it's good based on his opinion.

On the contrary, I think that Rockstar markets their games the best in the industry. They don't waste their media or reveals on 'events' or save them for magazines/exclusive stories, their media they release is always just in-game footage, and they show enough footage to get people very excited about the games.

Haha other people's immaturity is very entertaining.
