Infection Maps: Serious Business™

I haven't listened to the voice message yet.

edit: oh wow, the voice message is an open threat claiming he's going to get my console ID banned if I don't have Uncongealed removed from matchmaking. Do these people realize that Microsoft has these messages on their servers? I really need to Youtube this hilarity.

I hope your bank card is alright.

eh gotz ur console id! HOW?

Edit: yeah the internet is serious business, last night we were testing some heavy variants and this two kids would spend whole matches destroying our vehicles and shooting teammates.

After booting him a few times and some "I won't do it more" messages I booted him for the last time and made the party invitation only. He sent me a voice message calling me a faggot for not lettim him and his guest play more games.

Better do your job and vote that map out. That's a serious threat.

Was Frankie being serious? I don't think I can wait that long because I'm sick of Reach and mw3 is getting old fast. I feel like there are no games that interest me. Portal 2 single player was awesome once. I really hope for a trailer at the Super Bowl.

Relax, E3 '12 is in five months. He said less than five months to imply we'll get a reveal before E3 '12 which has been obvious since day one.

So I guess thatsthejoke.jpg

I think (hope) that he was being serious and joking. We'll be getting news in less than five months, but the joke was that obviously doesn't help us with a timeframe for news, since most of us figured we'll be getting some in February or March.

So, Halo 4 news guaranteed within five months? NOt sure how I feel about that lol. I want it to be so much sooner though hahaha

Also, Frankie saying that made me realize how absolutely insane E3 is going to be this year. Halo 4 stuff, Bungie's new IP's, possible console announcements. Wow.

I've read Slightly Live's article "Are We BETA Off Without It?" and I have to say not having a beta would be a huge missed opportunity for 343i. Its free marketing, server testing, bug testing, and gives gamers a first glimpse at the multiplayer. Another thing is I want to give feedback to the game. I don't want this game to come out with horrible balance and glitches.

It could also give everyone a taste of a shit sandwich. So it's kind of a gamble, especially if they've changed anything.

I posted the full thing here when it went up, guess the new thread excitement buried it for some folks.

(Edit, someone just posted the link above)

I agree about the missed opportunity thing. A beta is a massive boon for marketing and each Halo beta has swollen and grown - for this reason alone, the marketing potential, I think we'll still get one even though right now we have no idea what the plans are.

I don't think I could resist playing a beta either, even though I think going into Halo 4 blind would be more rewarding. It's the same thing with spoilers, sometimes I resist and enjoy a fresh experience and other times I spoil myself and still enjoy something but I'm left wondering if I'd have enjoyed it more without spoiling myself.

I guess I'm too weak to resist.

I understand your logic but I'm the type of gamer that gets frustrated by game developers being so secretive about what their doing about gameplay mechanics. I wish 343 could become a little bit more like Blizzard in that what their doing with the gameplay is open for everyone to see and give feedback on. I think that another good idea is that the game be tested by more than just "casual" gamers. I want some mlg pros to get some hands on time with it but the problem is I think they did that for reach and look how that turned out. I guess I just don't want Halo 4 multiplayer to be as big a disappointment as Reach. I wanted to like it so bad and I couldn't. Even from a casual player standpoint they just did so many things wrong. But that's enough complaining for now.
Edit: thanks for the protip about the bars homeboyd

I agree with you about the secrecy. It does my head in but that's the nature of the industry. On the bright side, when they do public about Halo 4 there's going to be no hiding from it. That's one benefit of a major platform flagship game like Halo, the exposure it will get will make many a small time developer weep with envy.

I'm not sure Blizzard's playtest model is something Halo can or needs to emulate - the original trilogy was never had it and those games did pretty damm well. =)

I really hope Halo 4 marks a trend back to the innovation Halo used to be known for. Halo 1, 2 and 3 set trends other games followed and they became the de facto standard multiplayer experiences during their heydays. Reach, for all it's merit, just didn't hit that peak. It's a ridiculously high bar to hit and even more so with a new developer and tougher competition from games like COD but I think it's only natural that us fans approach the series with these kind of high expectations and demands.

I'm cautiously optimistic they can pull it off and really, really hope they do it.
